Good Morning Sidebar :)

Well...I am not a happy Windows Camper! I knew better than trying download Windows 10!!!!!! Nothing but a nightmare for me. First of all, it took 10 hours, then all I have is a flashing home screen. Turned the dang thing off and now all I have is a blank screen. grrrrrrrr (I'm on my tablet right now). I cannot get to any of my files or anything on my laptop. Going call Microsoft...wish me luck. I want my Windows 7 back ASAP!!

Whoa...............I guess laptops take longer to download (I'd hook it into your router to do it faster) and are having "issues" like the plague!

Has anyone had issues downloading it onto their PC? Mine was real easy. (Win 7 to Win 10)

For all my WS Friends struggling with Windows: Consider investing in a MacBook Air. No more troubles and computing life will be so much sweeter.

Anna and my grandson's download took over three hours on their laptops, but mine took about an hour on mine. I have a two year old Dell and they got new HP laptops at Christmas and they have more ram than I do. We have Verizon FIOS with 75/75 mbps, four laptops, three desktops and my tablet and our landline. For some reason Anna changed something on my phone the other day and it showed I was using wi fi at my sisters, and I don't like that. I hate change. Websleuths is the only site that is slow and spins. I think at times there are so many visitors it may be overwhelming their server. The other night there were over six hundred visitors and two hundred members.

2003 - A major power outage never seen before across the Eastern United States and parts of Canada and including New York with over 15 million people affected . The total number affected is thought to be the worst power cut in North American history affecting more than 50 million . The effects included traffic lights failed, underground railways, people trapped in lifts, and because it was one of the hottest days of the year and temperatures approaching 32C some of the worst effects were caused due to the lack of air conditioning. Most did have power back with 24 hrs

My dog is having problems today. She's a big 11-year-old Lab, that until last week was very energetic. I was encouraged that she was still acting like a puppy dashing around the house and engaging my husband to play with her. Well, something has happened in the last few days. I took her to the vet this morning, a new guy we hadn't seen before (her regular vet has either decided to take a year off or he's retired- nobody was really sure). He thinks she sustained a neck injury. He gave her an injection of a narcotic for pain, and although she's walking better, she's been acting really weird in ways I didn't expect, so although my worries about having to put her down or that she was paralyzed were unfounded, I'm still disconcerted. Since I got her home, she's eaten- but been fussy about what she'll eat, but she's been whimpering on and off for the last hour, and wandering the house restlessly, but not wanting to go out. I wish she'd just calm down and sleep it off. I would have a hard time getting her back into the car by myself ( she weighs 85 lbs. and I have to lift her up because it's an SUV). Also I am supposed to be cooking for a band BBQ evening that I'm meeting DD & DH at this evening. DD also has singing performances both days this weekend. Now I'm nervous about leaving my dog home alone. I thought at first the whimpering was begging for the chicken I reheated for my lunch, but I don't know if she's still in pain. Anybody else ever go through anything like this with their dog on drugs??? I'm hesitant to keep asking my vet friend because she's not my vet. Wish my regular vet that knew my dog was still there...

Well.. I just getting ready to leave the house this morning to go grocery shopping, when I saw Louie (the orange one) :cat: sitting at the sliding door, whimpering and had blood on his leg. Well, somehow he broke his leg and punctured it. Rushed him to the Vet (Huz said don't spend more the $200!! if more put him down!) well he has a splint now and have to take him back next Thursday to check his bandages for the puncture. And it cost $300! What's an extra $100 among kitties!! Too bad - I'm NOT putting him down! And if I couldn't have paid, they would have kept him as an office cat - they wouldn't have put him down either way! He's resting now - very comfortably!!! :D

So busy day! Getting caught! Not too many people here this afternoon!

Off to cruise the net! :seeya:

Animals, they're just like kids that can't talk. I guess your cat didn't require narcotics like my dog did. She's been acting really weird since we got home from the vet.

Also from 1965 and the campy (at best) beach movie "Wild On The Beach":

It's gonna rain outside. They can tell by the clouds in the sky, whoa, whoa... ah, ahhhh...

Personally speaking, I'm more of a fan of Cher's AM radio classic hits "Half Breed" and "Gypsy, Tramps And Thieves". But then again... hey... who isn't? lol

I remember that all too well. My better half had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia three weeks earlier. He had an appointment at Sunnybrook in Toronto. We travelled from Algonquin Provincial Park to Toronto that day. We were riding down the elevator when the hydro went out - I thought I was going to have a heart attack right then and there, lol, then the generators kicked in and we were fine.

The drive was an absolute nightmare as every street light was out. By the time we got to Peterborough, we were low on gas. Needless to say, there were no gas stations open. We ended up driving to a friends place where we emptied every last jerry can of gas he had. It was so hot and humid, we had to use the air conditioning which of course used more gas at the time.

Our ride home was about seven hours. We were one of the last to get hydro back on - just a little over a week without it!

Could her meds be making her queasy? And did they send any pain meds home and she's hurting? Anna's dog Eva has problems some days getting up on beds or the. She tends to stay in my bathroom closet in a basket when she's hurting and the weather changes, and some days she'll run all over the back yard and later that day she's limping. She'll be thirteen in November.

Our vet (since 1973) is a nudist and sailed around the world several times, and we found out that his last"trip" wasn't around the would, but two year prison sentence for having sex with a fourteen year old girl.

I am sorry that some are having such trouble with your furry-kids. I can be of no help, Linas, but I hope everything will be OK for you and your dog.

Niner, a kitty with a broken leg?!?! Ooooh my ... I hope that kitty heals quickly and perfectly!

No Windows 10 yet .... I am appreciative of all the experiences you have all had thus far. I hope it does not take too long and leave me confused.

A NUDIST vet ? :shame:.

I remember that blackout. Ain't was hotter than hades here, and we were one of the last to have our power restored. A five nights, I believe .... and we slept downstairs on the floor to try to get a bit of breeze. We did not have a generator then (we do now l... guaranteed to never lose power again  ). We got to really know our neighbors, was like a block party every evening. And the sky was magnificent with no traces of airplanes, but also a bit strange to not see those trails.

I am sure I have missed something I intended to comment on, but I have had a long, busy day so forgive me.

He was a good vet. His practice has been run down by drug addicts that have knock down fights and bickering in front of clients. He had to shoot a lion that got out of it's enclosure when he was boarding it. Hmm that was back a long time ago. Maybe the early eighties.

She's doing better. Apparently she ran into the fence, probably chasing a squirrel, and compressed her neck and abraided her nose. Didn't want her dry dog food, but ate people food earlier, has drunk lots of water and finally went outside, and barked, and most importantly- stopped whimpering. I had to leave her alone for two hours, so I was worried about her. The vet said the whimpering is a normal reaction from the narcotics.

Yeah, she got Rimadryl? and Tramadal, which is the stuff I OD'd on, but she won't get them 'till late tonight because of the narcotic shot. I like the clinic, but didn't have a choice who we saw since our vet- one of the owners has been gone for a year.

Mona was on tramadal for pain for and for antibiotic ten days when she got hurt, She slept a lot and the change in her diet to soft food with her pills hidden gave her diarrhea

Is he a nudist sailing around the world on his yacht? Did he leave any forwarding addresses? Like any to any department of corrections?

Dunno. I just found out today that he was gone, which is strange because he is part owner/co-owner of the practice and was instrumental in helping their new building get built.

Our cat went to live with my sister and he loved to jump up on her car and jump to the six foot fence gate and one time he got his back leg between the pickets and broke his leg trying to get down. It was on a Sunday morning and the emergency vet clinic is one hundred dollars for just walking in the door, so they splint it up to his hip and send him home on pain meds which make him sick and then you have a throwing up woozy cat that keeps falling over. That cost eight hundred dollars on top of the hundred walking in the door. Hope Louie is doing better.
