I just shock my DH when I use his business Mastercard at New Bolton Center for my horse and he is unaware I just charged up to $10K on it. It makes for an interesting discussion after the fact ;)

BBM

I know this is highly inappropriate given the subject matter, but that last bit made me laugh -- I think it would make a great scene in a movie!

But seriously, just the fact that you can and do that kind of thing makes me think he must be a super sweet guy -- if I were you, I'd keep him! :)

Knowing her she'll be like one of those women who say" look honey how much I saved" vs how much she spent. ;). Just tell him how many frequent flyer miles you got out of it!

Came across this video which made me both laugh and cry. Hope it provides a little relief from all the pet nightmares people here have been dealing with lately:

ETA: Here is some background info which I think makes it even more special:

Of the eight groomsmen, four were also professional dancers and easily able to keep up with the speedy dance steps, but the other four definitely had no dance experience and really surprised Kirk with their willingness to play along.

“My two brothers work construction, my brother-in-law is a Second Officer navigation on a cruise ship line and one is a Secret Service agent, so they’ve never danced before,” the groom explained. “They were all actually on board from the jump.”

Apparently, Valerie had dropped hints that she’d love the men to do a dance at the wedding, but Kirk played it off acting like that would never happen.

“When we first got engaged, she was like, ‘You could do a groomsmen dance for me,’ and I didn’t even know what that was,” he explained. “She showed me a few online and I was like, ‘No way, I’m too busy.’”

Little did she know that he had taken that idea to heart and began emailing his groomsmen in March with Vimeo videos outlining the steps.

“I was just hoping they were actually checking their emails,” said Kirk, who
only had one in-person practice with all the men before the wedding.

I found this last year when Cooper Harris died. I don't think Ella Mae would let hr daddy forget her in the car. I'd miss that little voice.

I saw this on Facebook, it's incredible!!! What a dancer!

I work with a young guy who recently revealed to me how embarrassing it is to walk down the street and suddenly fall for no reason whatsoever. (well, not no reason, but something like a slight dip in the sidewalk, which most people could navigate, no prob). I told him I thought I was the only person who did things like that! Our friendship was instantly cemented -- one klutz embracing the other.

I am in awe of people who have such great control of their bodies, but I do note that they usually have lower centers of gravity. I have long limbs (like my friend), and constantly feel off-kilter.

Maybe that's why I admire this stuff so much? Oh, how I wish I could dance! It looks like so much fun!

Niner ... what's going on with the Tennis Channel? The commentators said a few hours ago they are not allowed to stream the women players. WHY? They couldn't say why just that they can't do that. That's half the reason I subscribed to it! So no more Serena and all the others and it seems I'm not able to watch on ESPN3 either.

update -- FB mentions a contract dispute.

Big List of Uses For Baking Soda (Besides Baking!):

•Freshen carpets. Sprinkle on carpets and let sit for 15 minutes before vacuuming. Try adding cinnamon! Especially helpful with pets in the house!
•Clean and remove marks (even crayon!) from walls and painted furniture by applying to a damp sponge and rubbing lightly. Wipe off with a clean, dry cloth.
•Make sachets and stick in stinky gym shoes!
•Many people use baking soda as a “shampoo” and LOVE it. Just add about a tablespoon to a normal-sized dollop of your shampoo and and apply to wet hair in the shower. It will be very foamy. Rinse, condition, and style as usual.
•Keep kitchen and bathroom trash cans fresh-smelling by adding a sprinkle of Baking Soda regularly as you add to the container.
• Use 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda per gallon of water to make sun tea. Tea never comes out bitter and always clear.
•For a great tile grout cleaner, mix baking soda and hydrogen peroxide into a paste, and scrub the grout with the paste and a toothbrush.
•Before putting on self-tanner, remove dead skin cells with a paste of baking soda and water. It will leave your skin soft and smooth, perfect for applying that “glow”. (Make a paste of 3 parts ARM & HAMMER® Baking Soda to 1 part water. Rub in a gentle circular motion to exfoliate the skin. Rinse clean.)
•Every couple of months sprinkle a mixture of baking soda and a tablespoon of your favorite fabric softener over your mattress, let it sit for an hour, and then vacuum it up. Gets rid of dust mites and freshens up the mattress. Keep that same mixture in a small mason jar with holes poked in the top in your linen or clothes closet to keep it smelling fresh!
•Here’s a two-fer! (Love two-fers!) After cleaning your coffee pot with white vinegar (add one cup of vinegar and enough water to fill the pot and let it run through a coffee-making cycle), put baking soda in your sink drain and then pour vinegar in and quickly put the stoppers in. It will bubble and foam and eat away at grease and food deposits. It works a like a charm and no waste!
•When cooking green veggies, add a dash or two to the water and then bring to a boil as usual. It helps them stay green.
•To remove burned on food from a pan, simmer water and baking soda in it. Most of the food will become soft and then can be removed easily.
•Use baking soda to clean the inside of porcelain cups. Just wet the inside, pour some in the bottom, and scrub! Gets coffee and tea stains right out!
•Here’s a good one to know! To to relieve symptoms of a UTI (and prevent future recurrences), fix yourself a baking soda cocktail. At the first sign of symptoms, mix half a teaspoon of baking soda in an eight-ounce glass of water and drink it. The baking soda raises the pH of irritating, acidic urine.
•To combat litter box odors….sprinkle baking soda generously across the bottom of the box before you add new litter. As the cat uses the box and kicks up the litter, the baking soda will help mix in and destroy some of the odor. Baking soda is non-toxic and won’t harm or bother your cat.
•Brighten your manicure by scrubbing nails and cuticles with a paste of 3 parts Baking Soda to 1 part water. Rub in a gentle, circular motion over hands and fingers to exfoliate and smooth. Rinse clean with warm water and apply polish as usual.
•To absorb carpet spills…blot up the area, spray with water, and shake on baking soda. It will help lift the stain, and once it dries, you simply vacuum it up.
•Deodorize plastic food containers in between uses with Baking Soda sprinkled on a clean damp sponge. For even tougher odors, soak items in a solution of 4 tablespoons Baking Soda and 1 quart warm water.
•Clean tough, greasy stains from your outdoor grill by scrubbing with a wire brush and a Baking Soda paste (3 parts Baking Soda to 1 part warm water), then rinse.
•To clean smelly jets in jacuzzi tubs…fill bath to a few inches above the jets, pour in 1-2 cups of baking soda and let it run for about 10 minutes. Drain the cruddy water, refill tub with warm water and run jets for another 10 minutes.

(Non-Food) Uses for Sugar

Sugar is one of those kitchen staples we always have on hand (you never know when you might need to make an emergency batch of cookie dough!) But sugar can actually do a lot more than just satisfy your sweet tooth.

From beauty treatments to fighting grass stains, regular table sugar can pinch-hit for a number of other concoctions, often times taking the place of more costly or possibly toxic solutions.

HEALTH

Soothing baby.
Studies have proven that babies who were given a 1 to 4 sugar/water solution before immunizations handled the pain of the shots better than children who received only water. Lending credibility to Mary Poppins’ advice that “a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.”

Healing wounds.

Studies show that sprinkling sugar on bedsores or ulcers before cleaning and dressing can help kill bacteria that prevents healing. Bacteria needs moisture to survive, and sugar draws water from the wound. A 6-month English study conducted on 21 patients whose wounds did not respond to conventional treatment showed that sugar was effective in curing painful infections.

Cool a burning tongue.
Hot coffee? Sizzling hot pizza? The next time you inadvertently burn your tongue (or eat something too spicy!) suck on a pinch of sugar or a sugar cube to help quickly relieve the sting.

Bee stings and bug bites.
To soothe painful stings and bites, mix equal parts sugar and water and apply to the area. Leave it on for about 20 minutes. It works beautifully!

Cure hiccups.
Eating a spoonful of sugar helps halt the hiccups because its graininess could slightly irritate the esophagus, causing the phrenic nerves to ‘reset’ themselves and forget all about the hiccups.

BEAUTY

Body scrub smoother.
Sugar is a wonderful exfoliating agent for body scrubs. Make your own simple body scrub by mixing sugar with oil (coconut oil, almond, jojoba or olive all work well) to create a loose paste. Add some essential oils if you desire. Gently rub on your skin and then rinse off in the shower.

Another option: mash a very ripe banana with 3 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Gently rub on your skin and then rinse off in the shower.

Lip scrub smoother.
Blend a little coconut oil or olive oil with sugar and a drop of peppermint essential oil. Place some of the paste on your lips, massage and lick off.

Make lipstick last longer.
Sprinkle a little bit of sugar on your lips after applying lipstick, wait a minute, then lick it off. The sugar draws moisture from the lipstick and will extend the color.

HOME & GARDEN

Hand de-gunker.
For extra dirty hands, add sugar to your soap to act as an abrasive. Or try making my Gardener’s Hand Scrub. My FAVORITE way to clean up after digging in the dirt!

Battle garden pests.
If the plants in your garden have unsightly knots at the roots, they may have fallen prey to nematodes. To combat them naturally, sprinkle plants and the soil around them with handfuls of sugar. The sugar will feed microorganisms which will increase the organic matter in the soil while making it a hostile environment for the nematodes.

Keep cut flowers fresher, longer.
Add 3 teaspoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of vinegar per quart of warm water, then add fresh-cut flowers. The sugar feeds the stems and the vinegar restricts the growth of bacteria. Replace the water every other day.

Trap wasps.
Make a simple syrup by mixing two parts sugar with one part water and bringing it to a boil. Once it cools, pour the syrup into a jar and set it outside. The sticky mixture will attract the wasps and trap them.

Make your own natural fly strips.
Bring equal parts sugar, honey and water to a boil, until thick. Let it cool and dip strips of paper bags into the mixture. CLICK HERE for the complete instructions.

Banish bugs and roaches.
Mix equal parts sugar and baking powder and sprinkle the mixture over any place you suspect bugs are hanging out. Sugar attracts the buggers, the baking powder exterminates them. Reapply as needed.

Another option: dissolve 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 tablespoon of borax in a cup of water and soak cotton balls in the mixture. Place the soaked cotton balls around the area where you discovered the bugs.

Feed the butterflies.
ButterflyRescue.com recommends the following formula for attracting and feeding butterflies in your garden:

Make a simple syrup by adding 1 cup of sugar to 1 cup of water and bring it to a boil. Remove from the heat and allow it to cool. To mix up the butterfly solution – take 3 ounces of water or Gatorade, add 1 teaspoon of simple syrup to it, then add about 6 drops of soy sauce.

Paint the mixture on trees, fence posts, rocks, or stumps — or simply soak a sponge in the mixture and hang it from a tree limb.

Lighter fluid substitute.
Once sugar is exposed to a flame, it decomposes rapidly and releases a fire-friendly chemical that can help ignite that stubborn charcoal. Simply apply a light dusting of sugar to the coals before you light them.

Fight grass stains.
Combine sugar and warm water to create a thick paste; apply directly to the grass stain. Let the mixture sit on the stain for about an hour or two, then wash the garment as usual.
KITCHEN

Clean your coffee or spice grinder.
To clean and eliminate odors…pour 1/4 cup of sugar into to your grinder and let it run for a few minutes. It’ll break down and clean out all the excess oils that have built up in the machine over time. Dump out and wipe clean.

Keep baked goods fresh.
Add a few sugar cubes to the airtight container holding your baked goods. The lumps will absorb the moisture and keep your bread, cakes, cookies, and biscuits fresher, longer.

Eliminate cooking odors.

To rid your kitchen of cooking smells, “burn” some sugar in a pan. Cook it to the point of medium dark caramel color, when the aroma still smells sweet. Caramel is a natural fragrance and you’ve turned your pan into a natural air freshener.

Also….add 1 tablespoon vinegar and 1 tablespoon sugar to the water before cooking “smelly” vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower or Brussels sprouts. Your nose will thank you.

Prevent cheese from molding.
To keep your favorite cheese from turning fuzzy, place a sugar cube with the cheese in an airtight container.

And a couple more than DO involve food…but that you might not have thought of!

Better berries.
Nothing beats fresh berries! “Macerate” berries for a quick no-cook dessert topping, by stirring in a teaspoon of sugar and a squeeze of lemon for every cup of sliced berries. Let sit for 30 minutes. Serve alone, with ice cream or whipped cream, on top of cakes, bread pudding, etc.

Make vanilla sugar.
Split a vanilla bean in half and bury it in a jar full of sugar, let it sit for a week, and you have vanilla-infused sugar. Stir it into your coffee, tea or hot cocoa, add it to homemade vanilla ice cream, use it to decorate holiday cookies, or sprinkle it on top of cupcakes or muffins.

Make rock candy.
Stir 2 1/2 cups sugar into 1 cup hot water until sugar is dissolved. Pour the syrup into open containers and add a grain of sugar to each dish. Store in a cool, dry place and check after a few days for crystals. As they form, scoop them out and let dry on a paper towel. A simpler candy does not exist!

GOT MILK ?
The Blonde & The Milkman
Just when you think you have heard every blonde joke, along comes one like this.
A blonde heard that baths in milk would make her beautiful. She left a note for her milkman to leave 25 gallons of milk. When the milkman read the note, he felt there must be a mistake. He thought she probably meant 2.5 gallons. So he knocked on the door to clarify the point. The blonde came to the door and the milkman said, "I found your note asking me to leave 25 gallons of milk. Did you mean 2.5 gallons?"
The blonde said, "No, I want 25 gallons. I'm going to fill my bathtub up with milk and take a milk bath so I can look young and beautiful again."
The milkman asked, "Do you want it pasteurized?"
The blonde said, "No, just up to my breast. I can splash it on my eyes."

I recently was given some info that I feel I should report to our Local Police. Could be something/nothing. My Husband and Family are Danish. My MIL talks with her Sister weekly in a small city outside of Copenhagen. Now my MIL is 82 and her Sister is 85. Both sharp for the most part. Anyhoo Uda shared with my MIL yesterday she has a group of Syrian's now living in her building. Apparently there is a lot of activity. Folks coming and going and expensive cars. It might not hurt to report???? Uda is scared and does not want to report anything. I will have to dance around MIL trying to get the addy and exactly what apt. these folks are living in. What do u folks think?
ETA Uda sees them almost daily as she hops on her bike to go down to the market for her fresh food. They are a group of 6 men. Polite to her but as I said her hinky meter is up.

What does your husband think, Bravo? If they aren't the type to get suspicious/uncomfortable of others and this is out of character, it can't hurt to report it. Better safe than not.
