Now the Huz wants me to see if I can get the heart dr. and hematologist together, so he can get his pacemaker. Meaning give him 3 or whatever units of red blood cells and put in the pacemaker. So I've called the heart specialist and his nurse said to go ahead and send the blood results and will give them to the doctor who will be doing surgery. Then called the meatologist's nurse and her the fax # of the heart specialist! I hope this works. His heart is really weak and he thinks he would get better much faster with the pacemaker. We shall "see" what each doctor says! :waiting:

Bernina, what a joy it is to "hear" you sounding young and spunky! Glad you had such a great time on the run. But .... did you win anything?

Quite cool here today. Wish my trees would start shedding their leaves. I don't want to be raking in freezing weather.

Nope, REALLY bad hand, lol!
Winnings were all donated to the 2 bikers who were hurt, and like everyone else, I rummaged through my pack and threw in the $50 I had in cash/another $50 in a check.........by the time I, Marc, and the other 5 of my school buds left, the total was over $20K, and donations were still coming in from late comers. LOTS of people.
The 34 year old woman who was really busted up is a champ, the 2nd vehicle swerved and clipped her on the leg, popped out her hip, compound fractures up and down it, and she kept her bike up. If she had dumped it, she REALLY would have been in bad shape. No word on how soon she'll be out of the hospital.
What was terrible is not one of the car drivers were cited. People who don't know that road just don't pay attention and all of a sudden they see the traffic light and slam on their brakes. There's been all sorts of accidents there, several involving livestock trailers. And with what is being termed as the "brown out" on emergency services in this county, the Fire Station with EMT's just a 1/4 down the street couldn't respond because of employee cut backs and re-drawn boundary lines for services.
I'm just glad that Prescott Regional Medical was able to air evac her to Phoenix.

It's that time of the year, or just an extension of that previous "time of the year", we just need a month where everyone is feeling good and everything is chilled out!:gaah:

Ok, spilling the beans (did some editing) on Saturday's adventure:
The Red and White Poker Run was a multi club/group event, just bikers from all walks of life, and the wonderful people at the Az Gang Task Force, aka GITTEM, followed any and every one who participated from Phoenix (even though it officially started in Black Canyon City) all the way to Chino Valley. I believe it was someone from GITTEM who was one of the many callers who asked for assistance when 2 riders got snared up in an auto wreck in front of the Prescott Airport. We were a mile ahead of them.

It wasn't until we got to Chino that the reason we had a following became clear. Sonny Barger had moved to Chino Valley. So we probably all had pictures taken of us at various points of the ride...........I get it, I just don't want to become infamous, lol!
Good people, good food, exhilarating ride, just a really fantastic day that ended back in Phoenix.....I haven't felt so alive in a long time.
I haven't been on the back of a motorcycle for 35 years and it was just the ticket to get me in a positive place. My old school bud, Marc, let me ride with him, he had blues playing on his speakers all the way up and back, which probably took most automobile drivers by surprise :floorlaugh: there's something to be said about the sounds of a Harley and blues music that just makes the scenery more intriguing.
And the weather was perfect.
I'm going to be splitting my time between Phoenix and here, didn't realize how much I have missed my old friends.

Motorcycles have come a long way in 35 years, right? My BF finally switched over from a Road King to a Honda Goldwing. So much quieter. I didn't realize how much the noise of the loud pipes (that save lives) was getting to me until the time we did the "Ride to the Wall" for Memorial Day a few years ago. You can't imagine the reverb and sheer decibel levels of all those motorcycles (mostly Harley's) going through the 7th Street tunnel in DC. Even with a full-face helmet, I thought my head was going to explode! But it is so much fun to be on the open road with the wind in your face.

I hope you enjoy your new-found freedom and explore all the opportunities that await you.

I was involved in a conversation today where someone said [they had read] that depression is what happens when you dwell on the past, and anxiety is what happens when you're worried about the future. I found that to be an interesting way of splitting the baby. We debated a bit about the fact that some life circumstances leave people both depressed and anxious. True Dat!

I am glad that you seem to be managing both ends of the spectrum with grace. Please keep up the good work and seize this moment in your life for all that it's worth. It's your's for the taking!

Had my mohs surgery yesterday and they only had to go after the basal cell once and stitched it up. Sadly it's on my left side and that's the side I sleep on. I'm so tired---between husbands snoring/talking in sleep and having to sleep on back...

I believe that, too. I think it is a contagion. No matter what else, if you're around happy people, you're more likely to be happy. But if you're around people who are depressed or angry or ... fill in the blank ... Bottom line is that you're more likely to take on the positive or negative influences of those in your immediate circle...
