Has #9 spoken? (besides the getting on the bus video?)

Not really. A reporter chased him down and stuck a microphone in his face and questioned him but he wasn't commenting. It's just a vibe I get. He just did not seem happy.

For those of you interested in how a juror could go visit a murderer after the trial, Google "Robert Durst".

Short version: Durst is a member of an enormously wealthy NYC family. His wife, a medical student, "disappeared" and was never found. He also had a friendship with a woman whose Daddy was in the mob. She continued this friendship with Durst for decades. One New Year's Day, she was slaughtered in her LA home. The cops wanted to question Durst, but he disappeared.

It turned out he was living in Galveston, TX, where he dressed and lived as a woman. He got into a fight with a neighbor, shot the guy in the head, then dismembered the body and threw the parts into trash bags, which he then dumped into Galveston Bay. The problem was, the bags started to wash ashore. The only body part not found was the victim's head.

Durst was tried for murder, and was represented by Dick DeGuerin, one of the hot shot defense lawyers in the country. Durst claimed self defense, and took the stand. He gave his version of the story. The jury decided to acquit, since the head was not found and the State could not determine the trajectory of the bullet to contradict Durst's story! Not only that, because he stayed in jail for a while for some other charges, multiple jurors used to go visit him!!! I have no idea where he is now, but he's walking the streets somewhere.

If he had any involvement with a daughter of a mobster and they were able to locate him after his release I doubt he is still alive and I highly doubt he is walking the streets, more likely than not Daddy got him a "new" pair of shoes. I don't see him getting away this time when they knew exactly where he was. jmo

Just came up downstairs.

yep, he's free as a bird and he's killed 2 people, probably 3. that was some crazy trial, and dick de guerin is crazy good at getting people off. and durst had the money for a first rate defense and got what he paid for.

this guy even stalked the JUDGE!!! remember?

:scared::scared: :panic::noooo:

One of the scariest things I've read!

I'm not a dp person, but do appreciate your analysis. I wonder what percentage of killers that have murdered someone SO savagely have borderline personality disorder? Or even just murderers, period - what is the distribution?

A better question would be how many have personality disorders, since BPD is one of several. That would give a much more accurate picture.

IMO, 18 came across like he had something against JM and apologetic for the killer.
Had he just said I didn't think she deserved the DP we would not be in as much of a snit, but his hubris kept him from keeping his thoughts to himself even at the cost of the Alexander's feelings....
in my book that says a lot about him

I bet Mr. Bill Z did not have a choice. He knew it would cause a mistrial if he did not give in. I hope one of them does write a book, one of the DP jurors. I'd buy it asap.

How about everyone except the foreman? I'd only buy it if each and every one supports Travis and his family.

as of 2011, he was alive and well. this guy is teflon. he'll die of old age.

I will echo what MANY have said repeatedly on this thread: after hearing Mr Foreman open his mouth (please stop now Mr Foreman!) I am convinced it is a MIRACLE that we got a M1 conviction. And an especially cruel verdict to boot...

He didn't just come across that way ... He stated exactly those two things. JM "talked down" to the jury ... and he felt sympathy for Jodi while the "merciless" Juan was questioning her on the stand.

Interesting, I haven't looked it up.

How does it apply when JA finally admitted to murdering Travis? She may have given more than one admission. We don't know.

She will be in jail for a very long time at this point, and maybe life, we don't know.

If you want more on jury studies, that we can do, but it does not apply.

there's a movie about durst called 'all good things' with ryan gosling and kirsten dunst. it's really good. check it out.

It's interesting that new technology is now used in jury selection. Run a search and you'll
find all kinds of new apps and ways for jury selection to make it easier to find the "right"
jurors.

Here's some random ones I found:

Amazing and so much easier to select jurors.
Like here for example: http://www.lawjournalbuffalo.com/news/article/current/2010/07/05/102410/tech-tool-

"Juror No. 3 is a 32-year-old Native American woman. Seated next to her is a 25-year-old white male with blonde hair. One touch of the screen alerts the user that he is married, has a small child, works in construction and was once arrested while in college for disorderly conduct."

"No stacks of paperwork, hand-drawn charts or sticky notes to update juror information. If the construction worker makes the cut, he is seated. If the opposing counsel uses a pre-emptive challenge, he is dragged into a folder at the bottom of the screen. If you choose to dismiss him, there is a second folder. All of that information is stored for future retrieval, if necessary."

:floorlaugh:I'm trying my best to be as nice as possible.....I don't want a TO

But real humans never do. :(

Yes, you are correct. They do it every time. But it is in the instructions and a foreman is the gatekeeper and somehow the court is failing to properly instruct those who have that position. It could very easily go the other way in terms of not being fair to the defendant. Hard to believe but it could because of them not following instructions. I don't think the foreman liked JM telling him there were no mitigating circumstances that pertained to the crime. I think he took that as "talking down to them" because the foreman had already made up his mind there were mitigation factors that he would consider. So the foreman (even though JM was telling him this) he decided to ignore what he was being told. Had the foreman been someone who felt the DP was appropriate they would have still deliberated until they were unanimous.

Thanks for sharing that, Curious... very interesting!

Yes, it's one thing that they hung up on the sentencing phase. Some people couldn't do it and that is why we have a jury system. I do not hold against any one of them for not being able to give her the DP.

But to hear that at least one of them actually believes Jodi was mentally and verbally abused by Travis is really, really hard. He did not abuse her in any way, shape, or form. I would be curious to hear his opinion on the pedo accusations...

It's just so frustrating. I can see plain as day who and what Jodi is. It's so crystal clear. But with her sweet demeanor and her pretty face, she will be able to snooker people as long as she lives. If Jodi had been a man, she would have gotten the DP a long time ago. It's such a subconscious double standard people have. If people who look like Jodi kill, the person must have given them a reason. Jodi's too pretty to kill. Ugh.

He's probably a part of the foundation of an office building.
