50% being deductible for who? You mean Dr. Phil could only claim half or the Foundation would only pay taxes on half?

Dr. Phil wouldn't care about that - the 50% that is non-deductible slides into production costs and is still non- taxable.

The question for me is did the Foundation have to pay taxes on the Dr. Phil money. Legal expenses at 125K would be Lippman's share, less 100K to a charity, leaving them $375K. So did they have to pay taxes on the 375K?

If they had to pay any taxes and paid their house off and bought a couple of news cars - I still say they don't have much money left.....

I assume the donor could only deduct 50% of his contribution. Since the 990 hasn't been filed, there is no way to figure out if the A's had to pay any taxes unless someone in the know tells, and they ain't talking.

One would think it would be illegal to spend money for anything other than the stated mission. I guess the lawyers know how to make sure that all expenditures were legal.

Well, when we get tired of getting money the old fashioned way, it's good to know you can go down to Florida, open a charity, collect oodles of cash and then close it and go on your way, no one in authority is interested in scams like that, it seems.

People work work as consultants get paid to work for charities - and yes, non-profits so I suppose Lippman worked that angle for them.

Wait just a minute...remember back when we were looking all over the place for FCA and she was actually staying at the church property in St. something or another?

And do you remember the pastor saying on his blog that he'd been fortunate enough to receive a donation that allowed him to re-carpet,buy some new computers for the church school etc.?? So is this where the money - the 100K charitable donation went? To the church people who hid FCA until she was outed??

That sounds like a very connectable dot to me!! :banghead:

I started to say, before the church connection jumped into my brain - that I'd always loved the pink breast cancer campaign that has been running for about ten years now.

It is always a big hoopla, with the big grocery chains joining in, the three day marches, etc. etc. and I was totally disgusted to find out that with the millions and millions they collect every year - only 10% of the money collected ends up in research, which is the whole point of collecting the money in the first place. Ten Percent!!

I was so disgusted I've never donated to them ever since!!:stormingmad:
That's charities for you! All perfectly legal.

Or come to Canada - what the heck. Check out my comments about the breast cancer campaigns. Each walked in their three day march has to raise $2000.00 minimum before they can participate and they raise million. Unfreaking believable.

Wasn't Cayleesfund established to fight for grandparents' rights? Just one big joke! Now I get it. They meant Caylee's grandparent's right to spend the money as they pleased!!!

Well the foundation was - the second one - and George and Cindy may actually have initially had that intention. However the foundation was formed very quickly after the verdict and I don't think they anticipated the huge backlash as the most hated grandparents in America.

Huge huge media/public backlash - there is no way they could have even begun to run that kind of a charity as a kind of paying back to society. Who would have listened after the world watched their behaviour during the trial???

You should have taken one when you're walking your dogs twice a day...

I would have if she is/was actually there. By the way, the pic of a maroon HHR floating around labeled as hers- isn't. The pic was taken at Ocean Woods, but belongs to a retired couple who are long, long time residents there.

Hello Beautiful!! :heartluv: I know - I know - I go on and on - but I have so much resentment and "dislke" against that family I want to make sure I'm biotchin about the things they've actually done!

And that is saying a lot!!!

I do think they were hoping to come out after the trial as vindicated and expecting sympathy for everything they'd "bravely" been through.

Hello - shocker reality steps in!

Yes .. that is a very valid assumption.. because very few people on this earth ( giving you the recognition you may be the only one) gives a **** about her these days.

Off topic, but related. Another child killer, Mario McNeill was sentenced to death for the rape and murder of Shaniya Davis. Antoinette Davis should be next.
