SIDEBAR to the Drew Peterson trial

I would have loved to have heard the interview with Jack Ruby. :rocker:

I saw the interview also, katydid23. The only consolation I have is that probably all of the defense saw her opening at the beginning of the program. She was scathing, and rightfully so. The Lopez' were instudio, so you know they heard what she had to say. Judge Jeanine has been incensed about this case from the beginning, and again rightfully so.

Let the defense bring it on! The prosecution can speak twice in closing arguments. They can do their closing, then the defense gets their shot, then the prosecution gets another whack at it if it is like most states. The defense is going to pizz off some of the people on the jury, IMO. I hope the one(s) on the jury that think DP is guilty stand their ground. I am half expecting a hung jury. I do not think their clothing colors have anything to do with unity because if they are obeying the law and not discussing the case, then they do not know as yet if they are united or not, IMO.

I think I need to call my doctor and ask for some chill pills, lol. I'm gonna need something to get through this next week! Not one day of this trial has gone by that I have not been very hopeful, then gotten very down. Yo-yo emotions if you will. At this point I am thinking a hung jury would be best.

Oh! Tricia's radio show was excellent tonight. I loved it and I love Jeff Ruby!

MOO's

I am somewhat confused on what exactly the jury can discuss regarding Stacy. She was brought up during trial, her name mentioned, and hearsay testimony was allowed in. Will this jury be able to ask and discuss "where is Stacy Peterson?"

I think what is very disturbing, too, is the fact that DP took money from Kathy's purse prior to any decision from the ME's office as to this being an accidential death. No police officer is ever permitted to do this and yet DP seems to do it with such ease it was disturbing to think he thought this was entirely appropriate.

Also allowing civilians just to search the house alone while he talked with the locksmith outside was wrong. He knew he should have called it in for a wellness check. He was not on duty at the time and had no authority to call the locksmith. LE would have known not to put the OJ container away and would have known not to touch anything at the scene. He set it up so that evidence was compromised. And we all know he knew exactly what he was doing. jmo

Do you think they will rearrest him and charge him with Stacy's murder if he is not convicted?

Good question. I don't think they have enough evidence to charge him with murdering Stacy at this point. If they did, why would they wait to charge him?

I can't see any reason they would not have charged him prior to this trial.

If you look at the info available on no body murder cases, you'll see the majority of convictions have some kind of forensic evidence the victim is deceased even though no body was found.

Some very interesting information at the following site:

Through August 7, 2012 (373 trials) (48 states, DC and Virgin Islands)(No cases found in:
NH and IDAHO) (Approximately 41 dismissals, mistrials, acquittals or reversals on appeal
for conviction rate of approximately 90%) (Approximately 16 death penalty cases) 1

They can't discuss her at all. However if they aren't already aware she's "missing" they have to ask themselves why she wasn't there to testify...

I believe they can discuss anything she told to others but you're right they can't discuss that she is missing or why she could not testify herself. I also think that if the jury considers the possibility that Stacy might be hiding, by now they are pretty confident they would know why. jmo

Until or unless Stacey's body is found or someone who has knowledge of Stacey's death decides to talk to police, I don't believe DP will be arrested for SP's murder. They need to establish that she was, in fact, murdered, and is not merely "missing." If they had such evidence they would indict him for the murder. Hopefully they will eventually have that evidence.

There is one thing that I'm having trouble with. The hitman says that Drew offered $25k to kill Kathleen. Then - when Drew announces that Stacy has left with another man, Drew says that Stacy took $25k. Is this just a coincidence? Am I trying to make a big deal out of nothing?

Coincidence? Hard to say. For some reason Drew likes the financial number of $25K and tends to use it, whether on purpose or not.

I think this totally hinges on what DP's cousin has to say and whether LE believes his account at all. We shall see.

Judge Jeanine Pirro at 8CT will be discussing DP on her show on Fox.
she attended the trial last week so she has alot to share.......

IMO LE had more cause to arrest Josh Powell than they do to prosecute
DP for Stacy being missing. And just look what happened to those two darling little boys not to mention their mother.

I tried to link up to it but I could not get through on the link at Fox. Can someone give us an update?

What was the significance of the testimony of Jennifer Schoon, the live-in girlfriend of Drew's son Stephen? She said that Drew said how/why Kathleen died and that was significant because why? It wasn't in keeping with the scene or with the ME or how in the world did he think that he knew??

Does anyone know when Harry Smith stepped forward with the information about Drew having murdered Kathleen relayed to him via phone conversation with Stacy? I wondered how long he waited to say something or if the police came to him with their investigation when Stacy went "missing"?

Did financial forensics people find 25K missing from Drew's accounts that Stacy allegedly took?
If so, I can see that a couple of ways.....he had already withdrew that big fat lump of cash to pay off the hitman but when he took care of it himself, he knew that he still needed to account for that cash when he was aware that Stacy was a risk to blowing his cover or he actually paid someone else to do it? (doubtful given him returning home dressed in black with women's clothes and coaching Stacy about what to say regarding his whereabouts) Still, he would have withdrawn that sum a long time before Stacy went missing.
Maybe he paid someone else to kill Stacy?
(I don't think so, but I am just floating ideas as they swim around in my head)
:what:
I am certifiably OBSESSED with this case!!! I love all of you WS members.....I learn from you and you are GREAT company!

p.s. my apologies to the mods for having to snip my bit of what I considered to be gentle vernacular...(another term used to describe a donkey)
I thought it was fitting for Brodsky, but I knew it was perhaps not English enough even for me......sometimes a girl has got to use a few good words for their punch! :blushing:

Well you really got to hear it because she is convinced Kathleen was murdered by DP and her commentary sums it up nicely.

Attorney Smith who was called by the defense couldn't say on the stand that DP's fourth wife told him DP told her he killed Kathleen. She also mentioned that inside the garage was a hole in the wall board that someone could have entered the house. She said DP entered the house by either that hole or the sons missing key. <lots of discussion>

Commentary

She explained DP entered and surprised Kathleen by one of those two methods. Dragged her into the bathroom and drown her with her head in the toilet explaining the bruising on her chest. Dragged her on the floor to the bathtub, causing the abrasions on her side. I'm sure her commentary will get posted but it's extremely powerful against DP. She puts the circumstantial case together and does an excellent job or it to for Kathleen.

Ohh his 4th wife says he wasn't in bed when she awoke and didn't answer his phone that night. Because DP knew he had to get rid of his DNA that night, he took her clothes and was found the next morning washing those clothes in the fourth wife's laundry room. How much came out in trial I don't know but will link the video when I can.

me think of the commode too... like when you are sick and bent over the commode vomiting....I can picture her clavicle hitting against the porcelain lavatory. The bruising to her knees could have also been the tile floor in the bathroom.
I must listen to Judge Pirro's theory on this case. It sounds interesting. I don't watch FOX news--I don't know if my TV even gets that station though. I will have to hunt for this online unless there is a link to the program....will google it.

Your first 2 questions are answered here in appropriate transcripts. A wealth of info here. Not sure if Money issues were discussed at anytime. Perhaps somebody can weigh in on that.
