I thought for sure he would have brainwashed/browbeat at least one of them into claiming the photography as their own to get him off the hook. That would definitely be his style.

Apparently his being behind bars has lessened the power he holds over the remaining children (at least that is what I hope).

If his remaining daughter AP has enough time and therapy without him, maybe she can be helped?!

We don't know their trial strategy yet; 2 PIs tells me that they will play the 'Susan ran away' card and that josh was pushed into murder/suicide. It will be the 'poor me, I'm a persecuted man' steve powell dog and pony show.

I only hope for one thing: JUSTICE for Susan, for Charlie, for Braden and for the Coxes.

This day is the beginning of the final nail in the coffin of steve powell's 'chantrey' ego.

It surprises me that none of his other children besides JG are listed as witnesses for either side. Also, not JP's mother. And the defense only has two investigators listed. This could be a slam dunk. jmo

Hard to say, but since the last was heard publicy from her is that her father was being railroaded (that's my word) by LE, I can't see that he holds lesser power over her yet. jmo

I don't think that Alina is emotionally strong enough to be a witness. We don't know how traumatized/brainwashed she was in that house and how fragile she is psychologically.

Alina reminds me of a poster I have seen that depicts a young girl with braids in her hair. The caption is 'This is how a 40 year old sexually abused woman sees herself'. Alina needs help, she does not need to be damaged any further by being placed on the stand in a court room. I truly hope that she gets the proper help, that there will be someone to mentor her and get her through this time period so that she becomes a mature, strong woman. She deserves that and so much more.

considering he wanted to put all the kids on birth control around the age of, what, 9-11 years old? I bet he was at the very least using her for sex.

I agree. What has she got now? She burned her bridges with her mother and older sister, her father is in jail, her oldest brother is dead, another older brother is in Minnesota, and the last sibling is mentally ill and no help to her. She is really very much alone. I doubt she is on any of her neighbors' good side either. And like Jacie said, she probably has the emotional maturity of a ten year old. I'm not sure she even has a job. I think she was the full time caretaker for the boys before they were removed. What has she got? Maybe not even the life insurance money either. The house could be foreclosed before long...She is in a real pickle. If I were her, I think I would soften a little and start cultivating some friends real fast.

I'm thinking she may not have the 'tools' to move forward. Contacting a women's health specialist would put her on the right track; she needs counseling. It seems like the powell men are, at the very least, chauvinistic and she has to be so confused. She is not a victim, in the sense Susan and the boys were, but she is a victim of steve powell's and the others in that house.

Powell, 62, is charged with 14 counts of voyeurism and one count of possessing an image of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Prosecutors have said Powell took images of girls as young as 8 during a 10-year span, although the court case focuses on voyeurism episodes from 2006 and 2007. Powell allegedly filmed two former neighbor girls bathing and using the toilet.
Cox family states:

Culpepper asked the remaining 65 jurors to fill out questionnaires which will be reviewed by attorneys before jury selection resumes at 10 a.m. MST Tuesday.

Outside of court, Chuck and Judy Cox said they are hopeful Powell&#8217;s trial may yet reveal what happened to their daughter &#8212; especially if a plea bargain can be reached. The couple maintain Powell and his son were involved in their daughter&#8217;s disappearance.

The Coxes said they believe Powell enjoys the attention of the trial and is trying to hurt them by dragging out the case and not cooperating with police. Judy Cox said this is Powell&#8217;s way to "stick it" to them and the world.

"He thinks this is going to hurt me?" said Chuck Cox. "I already imagine he has done as bad as he can

While alot of us believe SP had something to do with Susan's disappearance, I don't see how SP's trial has anything to do with Susan. I wonder if these little girl's "voices" will not be heard because their trial against SP will be overshadowed because of Susan's parents thinking that the trial has something to do with Susan.

I just got a KSL text saying that the porn charges were dropped...the judge said that sp didn't pose the kids so charges didn't stand...voyeurism charges still in

The alleged victims in the case are two little girls, former neighbors of Steven Powell, who were recorded with digital cameras through an open bathroom window while they were taking baths.

Judge Ronald Culpepper ruled that because Powell did not direct the girls to pose or act explicitly, his alleged actions did not meet the definition of the child pornography charge.



Is anyone else impressed with the fact that steve wore a purple tie in court, purple being the color associated with DV victims? :banghead:

I figure SP's attorney brought him a suit to make him look more respectable. I had no idea that purple was the color associated with DV victims. The color of Powell's tie makes no difference to me and most likely many people would not know that is the color associated with DV. When I hear "purple" I think of it being Donny Osmond's fave color, he loved purple socks. Really, I don't think men really pay any attention to colors and what a certain color/cause it may signify.

Well, the mother was staying there in SP's house for awhile, remember? Wasn't it right after SP was arrested? I can't remember. Maybe they are on speaking terms right now, but don't forget, SP likes to draw lines in the sand. The kids had to choose sides. I'm sure Alina feels the sister and mom chose sides against her dad, for whom she obviously shows allegiance. There is no gray in the Powell household. Only black and white. You are on SP's side, or you are the enemy. He made that quite clear.

That is so wrong. Does this mean if he were to sell/send those photos over the internet it wouldn't be child porn because he didn't pose them? It's not porn if the kids don't know they are being photographed naked? Ridiculous. That law needs to be changed.

I doubt he picked the tie. Someone who DOES pay attention to clothing and how their client appears in court (i.e. an attorney) DID. And they do know purple is associated with DV.
