The Regina Police Service (RPS) is asking for public assistance in locating a 2-year-old baby and a 36-year-old mother who is under investigation for abducting the child.

RPS officers were dispatched to a residence on the 1100 block of 13th Avenue at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning according to a news release.

Police say Keewatin is Indigenous, 5’7” tall, 140 lbs., has black, shoulder-length hair in a ponytail and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white tank top, black shorts, a blue medical mask and was barefoot.

Two-year-old Holdan Keewatin was last seen wearing a black-and-white horizontal-striped outfit.

Service has been cancelled. The subjects of the alert were located safe in the city of Regina. The child was found at approximately 6:00 p.m. The female subject was taken into custody without incident at approximately 6:00 p.m.

Police received a report that a woman was allegedly trying to remove her biological son, who she did not have custody of. When police arrived on scene both the mother and her child were gone. RPS later learned that the duo appeared at the Regina General Hospital after the incident. However, they left the hospital on foot before RPS were able to respond.

It seems odd bio mom would go to a hospital with Holdan after leaving the home. There are a number of reasons she would have gone to RGH but my mind goes straight to seeking medical attention. Assuming the hospital visit was to seek care for Holdan, she must have had serious concerns about his health and well-being. I'm glad he's been located. I hope he is being cared for properly. MOO
