ANY time any identifying details about these child-killers is known, as long as they are still running around free, the public should be notified. To do anything less, is completely irresponsible & potentially deadly for the public.

I am almost positive these aren't unique weapons at all. Now if they were and only a few on the market or if a specialized bullet was used then that may narrow it down some in the state but if they are common weapons/bullets that most gun owners have then why would the revealing of the weapon assist LE?"
OceanBlueEyes: If LE used that logic, they wouldn't have released the description of what the POI looks like either. Too many people have pony tails. Too many people wear baseball caps. And thin males are not rare at all. Also, Native Americans are too common in that area, so why let the public know that the POI has those characteristics? Do you see where I'm going?
Why tell the public the POI was driving a small white truck? According to your logic, that's too common of a truck, so it would just hamper the investigation.
No, the more identifying info the public has on the child-killers, the higher the probability that someone will recognize them and their behavior, travel plans, blood stains, etc.

Those words probably wouldn't be very comforting to the victims that these child-killers are probably murdering as we speak.
