SL Tribune Article with Steven P. and Susan website created by Josh

Was it John or Michael who were running for state senate? I know he was a delegate for the democratic convention recently.

Does anyone know what kind of relationship Jennifer has with her other siblings?

LOL:D No senate.....state representive. Michael.

No, erynne936, I'm not an authority or expert on anything. I pretty much rely on outside experts and authority figures to help me form my own opinions.

I read as many varying opinions as I can find ... about everything that interests me. I'm soooo grateful for the Internet. I don't know how I ever lived without it. I sure was much dumber then.

I don't own Photoshop and my own limited photo editing is very elementary.

I was curious if you were an experienced photo editor because if you were, you would be the FIRST ONE I've found who believes that campfire photo was not a poorly executed fake.

Thanks for your reply. My vote remains that the FIRE in the photo is a total fraud. I don't care about the rest of the photo. Josh's only point in faking the photo was to try to prove the family has freezing-snowy campground campouts with S'more making blazing campfires.

We already know from Susan's friends that Susan, Josh and the boys had been camping only 4 times -- and NEVER during winter months. Therefore, IMO, that fire in the photo, (whether faked or real) is NOT a camping-in-the-wilderness campfire.

Josh's photo was just another of his half-a$$ed LIES!
imho

My husband is pretty good at editing pictures but is not what I would call an expert. He looked at the picture and said he did not see any evidence that it had been photoshopped.

Even so, I think there is a lot going on with the picture that leads to many questions.

Will Josh bring the boys to Saturday's vigil for Susan?

If Josh Powell goes to the vigil and takes the boys, he will make his father look like a total 🤬🤬🤬 for demanding the flyers be taken down. I don't think he will. Of course, one never knows what crazy move Josh will make next so I wouldn't be surprised at all because nothing he does makes any sense at all! He took Charlie to at least two other vigils so, based on that, he clearly doesn't have a problem bringing him. However, one does not know what the Powells have been telling the boys about why their mother is no longer in their lives. The vigil would let Charlie know that his mother is still missing and that nobody has heard from her which is something the Powells might not want him to know. I also have to wonder if Charlie will be home schooled since it appears the Powells want to shelter him as much as possible. Sending Charlie to school would enable him to be questioned by the police, social workers, etc.

I have sent a link to the fire photo to a friend who is a graphic artist employed at a college and have asked her to examine the photo. Hopefully she will get back to me with her opinion by tomorrow morning.

Oh, that's awesome! I'm anxious to hear what she has to say about it!

Besides the well picked picture, seems the whole website is a bit telling. Lawyer has his work set out for him.

Agreed. That's why I think Josh should continue to post whatever he thinks is important on the website. I just can't believe he was stupid enough to think the website would help him. Oh, wait...I guess maybe I can believe it...:innocent::innocent:

I'd bet the "kids" are getting student loans for school--helping pay the mortgage. 3X @ ? Wonder if Josh would be able to collect public assistance even tho living with a parent? I would guess, yes. How would having a house in Utah affect that?

A person is allowed to own their own home and get public assistance. However, a person cannot rent out their home and get public assistance. That totally disqualifies him. He could, however, get unemployment benefits. But, I don't know how that works when a person moves out of the state they were employed in. One would think that wouldn't matter. He was, after all, fired from his job and would be eligible. The amount one gets from unemployment has nothing to do with where you are living, if you own your own home, etc. However, you have to be actively seeking employment and provide proof that you are.

Thats right. Josh can apply for unemployment; he would file to Utah to get it. That is, if he was working anywhere long enough to pay enough into it to be able to file claims from it.

In Texas, you can't get unemployment benefits if you're fired...layed off, yes -- fired no...to get unemployment benefits ya'd have to prove the firing violated some kind of law.

If JP was in TX and was a no-show for work, then didn't call in (to make his situation even worse) - too bad for him ....no unemployment check.

Anybody know what UT says about getting fired & getting weekly $$ bennies?

Utah unemployment benefits are different from the other states, as each state's unemployment rules are as per their own calculations of the level of unemployment compensation and their limits. Moreover there is a difference in the duration of unemployment benefits offered by Utah state as compared to the other states.

Described below is the short summary for the unemployment related insurance programs, eligibility, benefits as well as durations.

Filing for Unemployment in Utah

Tips for correct and complete unemployment claim are as follows:

Mnhe a collection of the employer names, dates of recent employment and addresses.

One has to show that unemployment is not solely his/her fault.

If you receive termination, always maintain a written notification of it.

Utah Unemployment Benefits: Eligibility

The basic requirements are as follow:

It is mandatory that one must be employed and worked for an established period of time which may be referred as "base period" as specified by Utah Department of Workforce Services.

One has to be unemployed without his/her own personal reasons or faults as per the Utah law.

One must be able to file ongoing claims as well as respond to question about continued self eligibility.

Maybe he won't be so lucky afterall.

One would think that Steve Powell has his home almost paid for by now. Regardless, the cost of property taxes, mortgage payment, home owner's insurance, gas, electricity, water, garbage disposal, vehicle insurance, cable, etc. has to be a substantial amount.

It has been reported by I believe Jennifer Graves, Josh's sister, that none of the adults in the household are employed. Whether they are getting unemployment benefits or are receiving disability checks is unknown. Regardless, these people need to eat and have expenses. How they are managing to get by is beyond my ability to comprehend.

If the finances are a struggle, you can bet that there are some pretty unpleasant discussions going on in that household. It would be interesting to talk to the neighbors within close proximity to learn if they hear arguing and yelling. If Josh was arguing with his father and brother on the telephone, just think what is going on now that he is in the same household with them!

HUH? _ :waitasec: _ Steve Powell should have his home almost paid for by now ?

He purchased the home in August of 2004 for almost $300,000. How do you think he could have the house almost paid for by now? He's been paying the mortgage for less than 6 years.

I doubt if Big-Daddy was Mr. Moneybags because he had to sell his prior house before he was able to purchase this latest house.

It took me 22 years to pay off my mortgage and it wasn't an almost $300,000 loan, even though my home is now worth much more than his house is.

Powell is a salesman for for the State of Washingrton -- selling prison made school supplies. He just recently got a raise from rep 1 to rep 2, or something like that. It sure doesn't sound like he's high up on the Salesmen scale. It's not exactly like he's selling high-end goods for a Fortune 500 company.

You bet I'm also guessing there are some big-time financial struggles going on in that family with only one adult employed.

Hey, maybe they're all prospering drug dealers. _ That would certainly account for a good deal of their totally insane behavior. :D

imho

Thanks, AF! :)

One has to show that unemployment is not solely his/her fault.

That pretty much answers my question.

Heres more info:

UI EligibilityAm I Eligible to Receive UI Benefits?
In general, unemployment insurance benefits are paid to eligible workers who:

have earned qualifying wages,
are unemployed through no fault of their own,
are able and available to work full-time and
are actively seeking full-time work.

What Earnings Do I Need to Qualify?
To qualify for benefits, you must have earned at least $3100 during your Base Period. Additionally, your total base period earnings must be at least 1 ½ times the highest quarter of wages during your base period.

If you do not have 1 ½ times your high quarter wages in your base period, you may qualify by documenting 20 weeks of employment during the base period with earnings of at least $155 in each week.

What Other Eligibility Requirements Are There?
In addition to having sufficient earnings, you must meet additional eligibility requirements to be eligible for UI benefits. Some examples of issues that may affect eligibility for UI benefits include:

Reason for job separation
Ability and availability to work full-time
Actively seeking full-time work
Proper weekly claim filing
School attendance
Strike or labor disputes
Self employment or corporate officers
Alien status
Refusal of a job offer
Illness or injury
School employee
Professional athlete
More detail on UI eligibility requirements can be found in the Claimant Guide.

If his work performance is good with the trucking company he was working for, they may overlook his not calling into work considering Susan is missing. But if he was a crappy employee, they won't go out of their way to accommodate him. jmo

Great, just great. The last thing we need is Josh getting off by reason of insanity. :nono:

Nah, that will never, ever happen, Alexis! The insanity defense fails almost 100% even when the defendant really IS nuts.

No attorney would even attempt to use an insanity defense with Josh. It would be laughed out of court before it even began!

BBM -- Vegas odds he wasn't an over-performing star player....considering he couldn't even keep his days straight & was a no-show on a Monday. And it's on video!! LOL

Ronald Cummings got fired when he didn't go back to work after HaLeigh went missing.

There's a pattern here, methinks. IMO, jerks are jerks & employers are glad to be able to wash their hands of them with legal reason to do so.
