I think they all murdered their babies on purpose and used "Forgotten Baby" as an excuse. I think it's the new "I smothered my baby with a pillow and the cause of death was listed as SIDS". The biggest reason I think this is because it's not happening anywhere, but the US! There hasn't been one single hot car fatality in Europe! In most other developed nations they have an extensive support system for new parents. New parents get up to a year off from work paid, the government offers you help from a nurse in your home and they even have short term foster care called Respite Care if parents just need a break and it's free! We have NOTHING like this in the US! They even have Day Foster Care where the child is in foster care during the day, but goes home at night. Again, we don't have programs like these. If you're overwhelmed, get depressed, have thoughts of harming your child, your options are very limited and they come with huge social stigma and possibly criminal charges for abandonment. It's crazy, but some parents would rather their child die and some even think they're doing them a favor by taking them from this "cruel world". America is not child, mother or family friendly. I don't think any alarm on a car or campaign to stop car deaths is going to work because I don't think they're accidents. I believe the parents are leaving them on purpose even if they don't even admit it to themselves. There are two things that will prevent these death. First, harsher sentences for parents who forget a child in a car leading to their death. If people end up getting 30 years plus, mark my words, instances of hot car deaths will plummet. Second, a better support system for overworked, tired, depressed, overwhelmed parents to admit they need help and get that help before they harm their children! I was speaking with a friend from Ireland and he could not wrap his head around the fact you couldn't just put your child in foster care for a break and get them back easily later. He was like, "Well, you must have a government foster program for a young, suddenly widowed woman without family and three young children! She gets depressed and overwhelmed by her loss so the foster care keeps her children until she's on her feet again!" I had to explain we don't have it not even for that woman.
Anyway, these are just my random thoughts since this is only happening in the USA.
