So... where is Lee?

Coley, I've been online way too long. I don't understand what you mean ... I'll get some sleep and try to understand what you meant about Lee using this statement so he could throw away his key that Caylee had and the Key=Evidence=Destroyed ... Caylee, KC, clothes, etc.

Okay.. about the whole key thing, I just reread LA's interview and he NEVER said that he destroyed Amy's key. The detective said "And you called Amy and destroyed that key for her?" and LA responded that when he had talked to Amy, she said "Hey, my key's on her, probably on her keyring somewhere" and LA said "I already, I'm one step ahead of you. I already got it. Consider it, taken care of."

Here's the link, pg. 1450

I have always said the "phone" is Caylee.

I thought the same thing as I read the transcript that Noway provided. (Thanks Noway!) There is something not right about that part of their conversation. I always thought that but reading that section by itself it sounds even weirder. And the whole key thing could definitely be another code for something. Maybe it's nothing... these people have such odd ways of saying things.

*disclaimer* I know this is a huge stretch, please don't beat me too hard.

Phone (Blackjack) = BJ = Baby Jane (doe) ?

I know, streeeeeeeeeeeeeetching but it came to mind and I'm sharing it. Feel free to ignore :D

Transcribed at link above.

LEE: Where did you get this phone from? Like how was it provided to you?
CASEY: Through the AT&T Store, god, what road? It’s the bottom left side of town kind of near where the mall and stuff is.
LEE: Was this a phone, is this another personal cell phone of yours?
CASEY: Yes.
LEE: Ok, so tell me. So if you lost the physical phone itself, aside from searching for it, how would you go about finding this? How should I go about finding your phone?

Entire call

The post right below this one said the PHONE is really CAYLEE & I think that's right!

Those last quotes from Lee above seals the deal for me..He was definitely NOT talking about a phone/object..No way!

So what was really in his head at that time? I think it was one of these 3 things..

1..He fell for the kidnapping story that KA told him & CA.

He was going to search for ZG.

2..He fell for a slightly different story KA told just to him & that was she really lost Caylee..She had no clue where she was or who had her.

He was going to search for ???

3..She confessed she was dead, how she supposedly died, & that she got rid of the evidence.

He was going to search for her remains.

All of these make total sense to me but I'm leaning towards #3 :(

Indianagirl, from the link you provided:

EE: And you called Amy and destroyed that key for her?

LA: The next, yeah (affirmative), the next day she reached out to me ...

I took this to be Lee's response to "And you called Amy and destroyed that key for her" ... with the yeah meaning he destroyed the key. But I see it could just be "yeah" to "And you called Amy" ...

I took it to mean "yeah" I called Amy and we discussed the key.... Either way, he never said the word "destroy" or brought that word into the convo, so in response to other posters who think it's code for something it's not... it can't be, he simply never said it.

They both IDd it as the key to Amy's car that Casey had just been driving.

It strikes many of us as odd that anyone would destroy a car key without waiting to talk to the owner of the key. Why not just return it to her?

Was it a key to something Lee and Amy did not want LE to know about?

I don't know what kind of key it was if it wasn't the key to Amy's car. That's why I added IMO. I'd like to hear Lee's explanation for destroying the key before he asked Amy what she wanted done. It wasn't his property. Why would he destroy it or think that she wanted it destroyed.

He was way ahead of her ... but I'm way behind ... 'cause I just don't get it.

If I'm following these key posts correctly, It is explained in one of Amy's earlier statements. She had a bad habit of locking her keys in her car, so she had extras made and given to all her close friends, including Casey. I took it that Lee knew the reason why, and after the events of the 15th fiigured Amy would just want it destroyed. Hope this helps, and I'm not off base here.

I wondered about that check too?? Maybe this LEE A. is a realative that LA is named after? Usually when a check is given as a gift, it is b/c it's mailed to them. I don't recall the addy on the check. I just don't think LA would write her a check as a gift, if anything he would have just given her the cash. Not to mention, why would he want her to see his checking account number.. He knew better!

If I am not mistaken I think this is Casey's other set of grandparents, George's mom and dad, in Fort Meyers...They apparently also sent a birthday check for Casey.

I didn't get this either.
"I already, I'm one step ahead of you. (Laughs). Í already got it. Consider it, consider it taken care of".

Who "takes care" of a key? You either hold onto it or ask the person what they want you to do with it. It's not like a bag of pot or something. Who knows, maybe it WAS some sort of evidence. Lee speaks a lot in code. Or else he just doesn't make sense when he speaks. Take your pick.

If Amy didn't want Lee to destory the key, she certainly did not indicate that in her testimony. It makes no sense to me to destroy a key to a car you are currently driving. If for no other reason, it's nice for a friend or family member to have an extra key to your car. Especially if you are like my sister and her family members who are prone to locking themselves out of their cars on a monthly basis.

IMO ... it was not a car key even though Lee identified it as such and Amy is saying that is what it was.

You know you can mail a key, pick up a key, throw it in the trash, hide it under you mat key, & possibly mangle the key, and it's not a car key but an apartment key? So if it's to the old place that she (Amy) lived, he would have thrown it away. Hopefully smashed it. What kind of key would it be?

I have always thought the key was to AH's totaled car and that is why she didn't want to retrieve the key from LA. She did not need the key and I assume LA laughed about having taken care of the key because at that point he knew KC had been stealing AH blind and him "taking care" of the key would be one less worry on her mind. I also believe KC may have planned on having the car fixed for herself and that this car is the one referred to in the WW interview that had been wrecked, brought to the repair shop and "smelled like a dead body" that LE received the crime tip from RH the night he was arrested for DUI. I also believe she may have initially drugged Caylee and put her in this car, as it was towed to AL's parking lot 6/14, where from 6/16 on, we know that KC was at TL's everynight, permitting her access to this car wherever it was in his parking lot. The 2.5 hours that LA was gone from the As to TL's to retrieve KC's cell, computer and bag could be explained by LA looking for this car, which may have been located to the bottom left of TL's apartment or the clubhouse. I originally thought LA may have tampered with evidence, or moved Caylee's remains from this car or its trunk, which would explain his 2.5 hour absence. I am considering now that maybe he has been MIA because he may have lawyered up with MN since MN dropped the As as clients, he would be free to represent LA without a conflict of interest and LA is the only one (for now) staying out of the limelight and remaining silent.

Anyone?

I may have the wrong information, but thought this car was wrecked and Amy had a new car? Which, if correct makes even less since about any concern over the key to a vehicle which was no longer driveable.

I cannot help but believe they are trying to tie LA to the case thru obstruction charge...then they will have probable cause to search his yard. The gas can story by AL regarding a close neighborhood matches up to either the 9/12 statements in latest doc dump OR LA home...IMO

MN is now the attorney for TES. It would be a conflict of interest for him to represent LA.

Who destroys a key?
In my enitre life I have never heard of anyone doing that.
Is there any one thing this family does that is normal?
:bang:

If I were family, which, take God I'm not, I'd be reluctant to send her a money order!

I have numerous times counted my blessings that I have NEVER had any contact at all with this family. Other than the countless hours I spend obsessed with this case....LOL

It scares me that people like this are out there in society. :chicken:

On another Lee subject, I read in the docs, part 5, page 34, about checks that KC had cashed at Amscot. Well, there was one from Lee that was cashed on 1/17/08. The check was a joint account, with Lee and a Ruth I. Any clue what happened there? Is Lee divorced? I haven't heard of Ruth....

I wondered about that check too?? Maybe this LEE A. is a realative that LA is named after? Usually when a check is given as a gift, it is b/c it's mailed to them. Don't know if anyone has responded to this but I believe these are GA's parents.

We're missing something here - why would LE even use the word 'destroyed' unless Lee had said something to them about it? You'd expect to see the question "And you gave her back the key?", but that's not what he was asked.

Odd.

I think he was saying "destroy" as in gone, KC will never see it or have it again.

Very possible.

There's a thread that speculates that it was the key to Amy's storage unit. (And maybe that's because Caylee was stored there for a period of time.)

I wondered about that check too??

You know what I wonder? I wonder why a 22 year old mother does not seem to have her own checking account? (She seems to cash any checks she gets at Amscott). If she did, in fact, not have a bank account, it clearly shows (to me) that 1. she did not have a legitimate job and 2. she never had to pay for a single thing herself.

Anyone?

There is a witness on the prosecution list from a car repair shop, isn't there? Hopefully we will find out more about whether there is a 2nd stinking car.

I'd also like to find out where Lee was for 2.5 hours that night.
