SoCal fires continue thread 2

No but I should start thinking about a plan. The fact is it would have to get all the way through the backhills of San Clemente to get to me and that is still a long way.

JBean, you ought to at least gather up important papers, pictures, sentimental items, some clothing and etc. in case you do have to move in a hurry. Sometimes you don't get a whole lot of warning in advance. Better to be prepared and not have to go than to need to leave in a hurry and not be prepared.

Can you get info from the fire captain??

It's terrible what the firefighters here in OC are having to put up with. They are short handed and working well beyond the 96 hour limit they are supposed to be under. I agree, Jbean, the devastation is clearly in SD, and Spitzer said they put in the order for equipment and manpower days ago.

Jbean Please get ready just in case. The way these are jumping never know

Wow, I saw the fires near the 241 toll road while driving home from work today. Geez, it's about 5 miles from where I live. :( I didn't think it was that close to me... EEK!!! However, there is not much wind so that helps.

Here are a few pic's I took tonight.

The first two are the Santiago Fire from my street and the last one is the smoke over Laguna Beach from my backyard. I can't believe the Santiago Canyonm fire looks so close to me.

So you're closer than JBean to the fire, better pack your papers and carry them with you in you car in case you're at work and things get closer.

My nephew just called. He lives in Laguna Niguel and his backyard faces my house. He said he can see flames right behind my house! So I don;t know what he is looking at, but do any of you locals know of any new outbreaks?
let me know..I am going to find out.

I don't know what fire that is, Jbean...I can't see it from here....please, stay safe

We are up at the charthouse looking omg we can see pewndleton raging

There is nothing on the ofca.org website and nothing in the OC Register. I can't see anything!! Is it on the oceanside or the hills?

We are at the am pm by dp harbor and we can see bright orange holy moly

We are almost to san clement proper on pch we can see it

Stay safe, Jbean.

Yes, two fires on Camp Pendleton. One is the Rice Fire burning in from Fallbrook.

Navy personnel assigned to ships who normally live on base have been ordered back to their ships to make room for evacuees using their bunks.

I seem to live in the only part of San Diego County not burning.

You all please get prepared to move and if firemen tell you it might be best for you to go- please do.

Firemen are good at their jobs. But there are things they cannot predict. If the wind changes or picks up it will affect the fire, it's movement and it's direction. If you prepare in advance to move out, then if/when they come and say it is time, you having prepacked, will have a bit of extra time to pack those last minute things you always think of and could so easily forget. And you are more likely to make it out safely.

Please be safe everyone!!

Jelly, don't wait until the last minute please. We don't want to loose you or any of our other extended WS family.

My prayers and love to all of you.
