Sondra was last seen at work at the Desoto Memorial Hospital in Arcadia, Florida. She clocked out at approximately 6:00 pm on October 10, 2002 and has never been heard from again. The next day, her car was found stuck and abandoned 3 miles from the hospital. Her purse and other belongings were inside the car, but her pager and car keys were gone. Her parents reported her missing that day.
In July 2004, authorities charged her boyfriend, Thomas Jessie Crews Jr., with second-degree murder in connectoin to Sondra's case. They had a history of domestic disputes. Sondra was scheduled to testify against Crews on October 11, the same day her car was found. Crews was convicted of her murder in September 2006 and sentenced to life in prison. Sondra's remains have never been found.
