Source: Kyron search now a recovery effort

  • #21
Looks like a recovery effort is underway for accurate reporting. :: Sigh ::

I believe it was KOIN that reported that Kyron's body was found.

Well, this seems like a non-news story. When they were searching with divers last summer, did anyone really think they were expecting to pull a live Kyron out of the water?

I disagree. Throughout this case, LE has been consistent in saying that they had no reason to believe Kyron was not alive. This is the first indication or statement contrary to LE's stance this whole time.

THEY DID! Oh I can't believe it! Someone is cyaing for sure! I wonder if LE called them and demanded they change it or something...

I think I just heard the sound of heads rolling :innocent:

If I see one more article citing an unnamed source, I think I make puke.

eta: "may" puke.

Please recall that it was KOIN that announced Kyron's body had been found some months ago. As a local, I have to say they are absolutely the WORST news source in this city. I never watch that channel.

Several layers of disgusting. Basically, gossip presented as a news story. Allegations of new evidence, citing....who? No one. Not even Tinker Belle.

Then a casual mention of a "source" re: the pings.

Then they rewrite headline and story, and don't say so.

Not journalism. No ethics. Corrupt. (There's a lot of that going around these days.)

Given all that, I wouldn't believe a single word from that media outlet. If they reported that the sun would rise in the east, I'd go check for 3 reliable sources.

And what a thing to do to everyone involved in this case--toss around "recovery" with no sourcing or proof of their statement, then "disappear" it. I have no respect for "disappearing." It's CYA and leaving a dishonest record. If someone did that with money, it would be a crime.

they have now changed the wording in the article and there is not one bit about it being a recovery effort.....

just wondered if everyone else is seeing this...

eta: glad CH snipped the original article in the opening post.

Yes they did nurse. I had to read three times:banghead:

In my neck of the woods, it's the local FOX channel that is "famous" for this type of reporting :couch:

A friend of mine in LE told me one time that "an unnamed police source" usually means the reporter talked to the cops directing traffic around the crime scene. He swears he once overheard a couple of local newspeople exchanging gossip, and that night's news report each cited as a "source" the other, unidentified, reporter...

Many of the articles in Kyron's case have reminded me of that. Recycled and recirculated rumors that never had any basis, and now previous news reports are being cited as evidence to support the new rumors.

If people are really upset about it then this thread should be deleted because, with the article being re-worded, this thread is surely the most prominent place on the web perpetuating the rumour (in this thread title especially).

Maybe the thread title should be changed to crappy reporting, and we can list all those who've been guilty of it during this case. Oh, wait, the thread would be waaay too long!

Can I reword it to "KOIN SUCKS?"

;)

I will reword, do whatever you guys think. It could even be merged with this thread:
Why does MSM keep editing their own articles?

I was asking this a long time back about a month after little Kyron came up missing. Why and when was this going to be a recovery effort. They needed to do this awhile back.I do not feel he will be found in Sauvie Island and I do not think Terri had anything to do with his disappearance. They need to look else where also and look at different suspects. They should have a long time ago.I pray they find this sweet little boy soon.

Actually, when I first started reading this thread I thought, Gee, this is a nicer way of reporting 'looking for bones' and then they go and delete it all.....hmmmmm. I'm starting to really wonder about this case. Nothing is even close to normal.

What "new evidence" would be tying Kyron's step mother to Sauvie Island 120 days after Kyron's disappearance?

They already had cell phone pings and a witness.

It almost has to be just eliminating other possibilities.

Oh well. The changing articles part of it is very annoying but otherwise I can't say I'm shocked. I have pretty much been considering the searches they've done a recovery effort all along, with the exception of the first couple of days. If LE have done searches in order to find Kyron alive they've kept pretty quiet about it. The searches they've done in a number of Terri's friends' homes and properties might have been like that but they could just have been more recovery efforts or to find the bat phones or some other evidence.

I'm hoping LE has found friends/associates of Terri and/or Dede that live/work in that particular area of Sauvie Island.....

I'm surprised the title on this thread has remained the same, every time I read that I have to check the thread just in case. Inaccurate titling should be avoided at all costs. JMHO

The article originally referenced used that headline. I think it's still the same because it serves as a reminder that even media not only gets it wrong, but makes it up. But that's just how I'm taking it. :)

To be fair, we don't know why they changed the headline. But a few days earlier we had the one about searching for "bones", so somehow, I do not get the feeling that the searches on SI are "rescue-oriented." So this headline is probably accurate but possibly unsourced.

Any "rescue" operations at this point would be via a swat team surrounding a house. Anything else would have to be recovery, or a search for physical evidence.
