It's hard for me to believe he could be so calculated as to plan the murder of his wife, and then spend time with her like everything was normal. How much emotional self control would that take? I can't really grasp that. It's so surreal. I hope for the sake of Anni's family that he wasn't involved. For them to think he deliberately got rid of her (in such a brutal way) just to save face would be unbearable.

This case is built on such flimsy evidence that in most countries it would never come to court. There is no corroborating evidence to convict SD.
What really happened onl Sd and the killers really know

Another thing that doesn't make sense to me is that Dewani and Anni had broken up at one point (or was it more than once?) so why didn't Dewani use that as the perfect excuse for his 'way out' if that's what he was after? It wasn't like this was a deeply loving and committed relationship, by either of their accounts, so why did he get back together with her? Was it family pressure?

People do things for no rhyme or reason. He may have very well got her killed but the evidence is flimsy. SA police have done horrible job collecting evidence against him and doing deals for evidence proves incentive to lie

He had to marry her to save face in the community (vis a vis doing the adult thing and coming out as a gay man) and somehow guarantee his inheritance, which I think was/is considerable. Once married, if she died then he was off the hook.

True that. Not just gay but simply marrying anyone who is not South Asian (Indian).

No more $ and completely cut off from Indian friends and family.

I also think people think they can get away with it, which, in many many cases they can.

"Did he simply want to “get out of the marriage” as Leister will testify? And why not just divorce her? Why arrange to have her murdered in this particular fashion? Was he planning to act out an ‘eternally bereaved husband’ role for the rest of his lifetime, therefore plausibly hiding his true sexuality from his own family and the entire world?"

Jansen got to court THREE hours ahead of time. And another journo said there were big, fat brazen rats sitting outside court this morning.

Haha how appropriate :p If the rats abort the sinking ship, we'll know Dewani is sunk. :p

Leigh-Anne Jansen (@LA_JANSEN) tweeted at 9:33am - 8 Oct 14:

#DewaniTrial @eNCAnews Media & public have entered the courtroom. I have a front row seat, for better tweeting. (https://twitter.com/LA_JANSEN/status/519752546244513792)

(She may have snapped her heel yesterday, but today she was prepared!)
