Van Zyl starts by asking Qwabe why it took him almost two years to enter into a plea agreement with the state.
Time: 14:56
Qwabe responds by saying he had lied under oath when he initially said he had an alibi. He also says he was assaulted by police, a little bit.

Qwabe: "I was assaulted before I gave a statement... He basically told me not to lie. I must tell the truth about what happened."

Qwabe is now questioned about his unlicensed firearm. He says he bought it in the township, but doesn’t have the name of the seller.
Qwabe says he bought it for protection because it’s not safe in the township.

Dewani was on Gaydar while Anni sat by his side in Johannesburg airport, on their honeymoon, he admits

MQ on firearm: "I bought it in the township." FZ: You don't know who you bought it from? MQ says he doesn't.

FZ: "What were you planning to do with this illegal firearm?" MQ: "It's not safe in the township. I wanted to protect myself."

FZ: An acquaintance kept borrowing your firearm and ammunition and you don't know what for?

MQ: I never asked him.

Van Zyl probes what Monde knew about Qwabe:"You didn't tell him you were a hitman? You didn't tell him to call you if someone bothered you?"

imo, SD has an average to above average sex drive, if he was bisexual Anni would have been able to satisfy at least till he got back to the UK. So in my book he's definitely gay, doesn't make him a murderer but the stress of hiding in the closet for all these years, and having a wife putting pressure on him to perform, and she would expose his unwillingness to have sex to all the families when they get back to the UK, could be a motive to have her eliminated. Money would factor into this also, his inheritance and good standing in the community. jmo

FZ: What exactly did Monde say when he called you? MQ: Someone needed a job to be done.

FZ: so did you ask him what the job was? MQ: No. That's why I asked him to give the person my number so the person can call me.

FZ: Did you think it was something illegal? MQ: I thought of that, yes.

FZ: were you prepared to do something illegal? MQ: Yes

Shrien Dewani is listening to "hitman" Qwabe's testimony with eyes wide, moving his head from side to side, straining to hear, shaking head

Francois van Zyl scoffs angrily at Qwabe's response that "anything is possible"."You are giving evidence. Can you try to ASSIST the court?"

I think R15000 is about £853. How many weeks pay this would be in SA, I have no idea, but sounds desperately cheap to me for killing someone.
