These are my questions which I hope the trial will answer, one way or another.

1. Why would Anni want an excursion through the poverty stricken streets of Khayelitsha in the middle of the night?

2. I have read 2 different media reports, in one, Anni's £25,000 diamond engagement ring was stolen, in another it was found under her body in the taxi. Which is true?

3. Anni had sent texts to her cousin that she wanted out of the marriage? True or False

4. Can it be verified that Anni sent a text to her cousin before she was killed that Shrien had sex with her five times in one night? Earlier she described him as a reluctant lover and she felt he didn't find her attractive. Could he have sent the text or was it in fact, true?

4. The most obvious question and needs to be answered, why was Shrien thrown from the taxi and Anni kept, if there was no intention of a sexual assault? Why not shoot Shrien, why leave a witness?

5. Was a helicopter flight booked for the next day as an explanation for Shrien withdrawing a large amount of cash, £1,000?

6. Why has Zola Tongo, Xolile Mngeni and Mziwamadoda Qwabe implicated Dewani in the murder of his wife? What advantage would there be for them to lie?

I'm just as interested in this trial as the Pistorius one. Really hope it will be televised (or at least filmed and shown on YouTube).

BREAKING NEWS: The NPA, responsible for prosecuting Shrien Dewani for the murder of Anni, have agreed with Dewani's lawyers NOT to request the trial to be televised.

This private agreement (made out of court) means the world will not see or hear Dewani on the witness stand, nor German Master, nor Tongo nor any of the other witnesses. Having waited 4 years for this trial, everyone who is not in the court room will have to rely on reading second hand write-ups from journalists.

Western Cape DPP Rodney de Kock is reported as explaining his decision to make this deal with Dewani as being due to concerns for Dewani's "health". Although this has been questioned by many people as Dewani was found not to be mentally ill by a panel of psychiatrists and unanimously deemed fit to stand trial.

IMO OP's trial has had a lot to do with this decision. The NPA must be cringing with all these new developments being aired to the international community ahead of sentencing. Anni's family wanted it broadcast.

#DEWANI MURDER: ANNI'S FAMILY TO HOLD PRE-TRIAL PRESS CONFERENCE ON EVE OF TRIAL

The Hindocha family will be holding a press conference for the media on Sunday 5th October at 7pm in Cape Town.

Vinod Hindocha, Anni's father, and Ashok Hindocha, Anni's uncle, will both be in attendance. This is thought to be the only public statement the bereaved Hindocha family will make until the end of the trial of Shrien Dewani.

Director of Public Prosecutions, Advocate Rodney de Kock, says that the media will be allowed limited access to take still photographs of the accused and silent video clips on Monday. He says the state and defence have concerns that unregulated media access to Dewani may impact negatively on his health.

The NPA says it has no objections to closing arguments and judgment being broadcast live.

British businessman Shrien Dewani is set to stand trial next week for allegedly murdering his wife Anni on their honeymoon in Cape Town in 2010.
Local and international media are expected to pack the benches of the Western Cape High Court when he appears before Deputy Judge President Jeanette Traverso on Monday.

It appears only closing arguments and verdict will be televised.

A British businessman accused of having his wife murdered in a staged carjacking during their honeymoon in Cape Town visited a male prostitute for drug-fuelled sexual liaisons in the run-up to his wedding, his trial is expected hear when it opens in South Africa next week.
Shrien Dewani, 34, told Leopold Leisser that he was due to marry to a "nice, lovely girl” and could not break off the engagement, despite having strong feelings for men, because he would be “disowned by his family”, it was reported.
Mr Leisser, a German national who trades under the name The Master, is said to have told police he met Mr Dewani, a care home owner from Bristol, through the homosexual introductions website Gaydar and he was “very charming and quite educated".

Anni’s father Vinod Hindocha tearfully read a prepared statement.

“It has been a period of torture for our family and we have missed Anni a lot. Now that I am here, all that I ask, is for the full story, and justice.”

Hindocha and several members of his family have travelled to Cape Town to attend the trial.

“I’m confident that South Africa will conduct a fair and open trial of Shrien Dewani.”

Uncle Ashok Hindocha answered questions from the press, despite the number of reporters, there were not many questions.

Honeymoon murder suspect Shrien Dewani begged a male prostitute to humiliate and racially abuse him during drug-fuelled sex sessions only a few months before his marriage, it was alleged yesterday.

The millionaire businessman is accused of meeting Leopold Leisser, known as the German Master, three times before he married Anni Dewani after making contact through the Gaydar website.

Asking Mr Leisser to use racially insulting slang, the 34-year-old allegedly pleaded to be called a ‘P***’, and told him how he enjoyed being slapped and degraded.
Dewani is also said to have told the prostitute he was due to marry a ‘lovely girl’ but could not break off the engagement because he would be ‘disowned by his family’

It sounds as though court is very crowded and things are hectic amongst the media. This poor eNCA reporter managed to snap the heel right off her shoe while trying to get into court, so I suspect she's now a barefoot reporter. There's a pic of said shoe on her twitter feed.
