I don't buy the DT's ransom version, maybe, a botched robbery....but Qwabe and Mnengi have nothing, no remote shed to hold her captive. No spare phones to make ransom demands and then ditch.

The community of Khayelitsha wouldn't tolerate these two bringing Anni into their township. She would stand out immediately. The community would be outraged and report them. They all live under each others feet, everyone knows each other's business.

I could believe a robbery gone wrong, but I think DT is covering their asses because SD was released absolutely unharmed. They may be overshooting though imo.

Yeah, I don't believe it either. Thing is though, I suppose it's possible, and that's all it needs to be, so I can see why the DT is pushing it. Plus, as you say, it explains Dewani being released (though I guess that could have been done on Tongo's say so - he might've specified both the Dewanis should be released unharmed so that his car didn't become a murder scene, for example).

I wonder if THAT was the reason defence went on about MM's not revealing his real address today? It made me wonder if he had something to hide there. Maybe that's defence's intention, to suggest to the judge that his 'secret' home had been set up as a hostage hideout?

Ooh, good catch...

I could be wrong but hadn't Tongo already pointed out the camera to him in the earlier video where they were together when the cleaner came in.

Yes he did, same camera but this is a later time, so he definitely knows its there and, unless he's an idiot, he also knows they will be all over the hotel.

Who is likely to be "up" tomorrow. Do you think the DT will call the prisoner who says he spoke about the kidnap with Tongo and, given the state of evidence so far, is anyone likely to believe him? Is he after parole of some sort? Who knows.

Defence counsel asks if there was a fifth person who’s being protected. The witness says no.

Time: 11:5
Defence tells the witness that Tongo said five meant himself, Dewani, Qwabe, Mngeni and Mbolombo.

Just put these in as I think I missed them when reading the previous pages.

Re the questions about whether Tongo was sitting at the table with SD and Anni -

There is another person there beside SD outside the restaurant. Maybe Tongo walked with them to the restaurant and this caused the confusion. He could have said I'm at the restaurant, and they assumed he was inside.

One of the things that is standing out for me re ransom-robbery, is there's been no mention of any of the men knowing that the money was in Anni's bag. Has it been said that SD removed it himself and put it in the car?

They all said it was in the cubbyhole, or pouch behind the seat. So did they let SD go without checking the money was there?

I'm puzzled about this and still trying to work out what it could mean, possibly a plan for ransom or murder.

Yes, I too have been wondering about this. In his statement he said he gave the money to Anni to put in her handbag and kept R4000 on his person.
As the money Anni had was supposedly for the surprise helicopter ride, how could he then ask her to hand over the money (he had said he gave it her because he couldn't fit it in his pockets) as she would have asked what he wanted it for and would have spoilt the so called surprise. It just doesn't make sense.
So how did get in the back of the front seat or the glove compartment?

I thought it was amusing when Van Zyl told Mbolombo: “I’ll argue at the end of this trial that with you, one never knows where the lies stop or if they will ever stop,”. I thought I was reading about OP for a moment

Hopefully, PT is taking note of that statement just in case it ''might'' apply to SD's testimony.....moo

PH: I proceeded to the Cape Grace hotel and interviewed the accused in this matter. I verified property stolen, cell numbers.
The accused identified the wedding band as that of the deceased. It was an informal interview. I explained the procedure of
identifying the deceased at the state mortuary. at that stage I was in possession of a murder docket with a statement from the officer at the scene
