I agree, it does give some idea what is being said at least, must be frustrating for the tweeters though, trying to convey what is being said as best they can. Sometimes its just one big mess when Judge, Barrister and witness seem to be talking at once. :p LOL

You guys are amazing, pat c, kc, z and yourself. I find that I get so confused I simply skim over the posts whilst not taking in the finer details. Sooo when everyone puts their take on the argument at hand it just makes is so much clearer. Simply a joy to read everyone's comments. Brilliant minds.

As each witness comes and goes, I move from 99% sure this was a botched ransom plot to 100%. I suspect rape became an option and Anni refused at the cost of her life. There is nothing at all that gives me the inclination this was a organised hit. An email where an argument, love and reconciliation is expressed? Or because the day after his wife is killed he mixes up who put what ring where? No way in a million years will the judge convict him on anything with this as the states case. And we still have a witness to Tongo's confession coming up and if he mentions something in his statement that only Tongo would know, then it's game over and this poor bloke can get on with his completely wrecked life in relative peace.

Two strong men couldn't overpower a petite lone woman? Anni refused and it cost her life?!! So if she agreed she would still be alive? SD said Anni was probably shot because she screamed!
Poor Anni, so she brought her death upon herself?!! The lame excuses are just mind boggling.

I agree that the state's case isn't going too well, but I believe they did the right thing in extraditing SD. If SD had gone back to SA when he was first asked, this case wouldn't have brought so much media attention and sensationalism, imo, he brought that on himself.

BTW, there are links in each thread of SD's statement he made last month which I recommend to read. Among your criticisms in your last post to me that I was making things up, SD says he chose SA as the honeymoon destination in his own statement, Anni had no input.
Also, I never said he was a narcissist or that he should be audited in his home country, you've taken comments from somewhere else and attributing them to me.

KC, I re-read SD's statement and you're right, November 5 is the day of the doctor's visit! And Preyen and Sian organising the SA honeymoon destination that SD chose. And on that same day, Anni is sending heartfelt emails to her husband of hurt and threatening to pack and leave! Why Anni couldn't talk to SD face to face is suspicious to me. I agree about the business sounding reply to Anni. She must have been devastated to know she was not loved and was an annoyance to him! I bet anything that his emails to the man he was 'in love' with, sounded nothing like this.

Also, I don't like the idea that when a husband is implicated in the murder of his wife, he has access to his wife's medical records. When a wife is alive, the husband can't ask to see her records and vice versa. This makes me wary about what VZ said were on those records or iow, how the Defence team chose to interpret them. JMO

I do agree with you concerning the medical records. Also, although I didn't participate in the Pistorious trial, I did watch all the videos on the trial and read almost all the comments of members on the forum. It does seem the Judge seems to favour the defence in the Dewani trial as in the O.P. trial. Granted the judge in S.D. trial does seem to interact more, but as you said in your last post about tweets it isn't the same as seeing it live where you can see/hear exactly what's going on.
I still can't get over sending an email to your wife and signing off REGARDS. I feel their relationship was doomed from the start as they seemed to have such conflicting opinions.
It is so upsetting to picture poor Anni in the car with those men knowing she had no way of escaping. Very sad!

On Tuesday, the court heard about emails sent from Anni Hindocha to Dewani, just days before her murder in Cape Town.

Captain Paul Hendrikse, the State's 15th witness, said they recovered her BlackBerry phone and sent it to the United Kingdom in January 2011 to obtain its contents. Two e-mails from the deceased to her murder-accused husband were found.

"I left my home, family and everything to be with you and three days later you say that if you knew marriages were like this, you wouldn't [have] got married. Seriously, do you want me to leave you?" she said in the first e-mail.

"It's very mean of you to tell me things you told me just after marriage.

"Then you should have told me this before. I don't want an insecure man or a man whose feelings doesn't come naturally that you have to force yourself."

Hendrickse, who led the investigation into Hindocha's murder, denied bias against her husband in the Western Cape High Court on Tuesday, Sapa reports.

Francois van Zyl, for Shrien Dewani, asked Captain Paul Hendrikse whether his attitude towards his client and the investigation was fairly impartial. Hendrikse, the 15th State witness, replied yes.

The defence also criticised Hendrikse for not keeping an investigation diary and for failing to timeously follow up on the primer residue results for Qwabe's yellow kitchen glove.

The officer explained that he put all his notes and observations into statements that were available to the defence.

He said it was an "oversight" that they only obtained the primer residue results after the defence requested it from the State.

Proceedings resume.

VZ: Yesterday, I neglected to play three video clips. I discussed it with my learned friends. The state has no objection. We are going to show you 3 clips. The 1st two were taken by CCTV cameras at the Cape Grace, the Friday evening.

The 1st clip shows Shrien and Anni Dewani walking over the bridge outside the Cape Grace. It's a few seconds long.

Real time on 1st clip: 23h20.

The 2nd clip is an aerial view of the couple walking and Shrien holding Anni.

Shrien is fighting back his tears, wiping tears from his cheeks

VZ: You are aware that the accused and the deceased went to Sevruga on the Friday night. PH: That's correct

10:06

SD is said to be fighting back the tears in the courtroom.

1007
VZ: Both clips are on their way back. The point is, that was some hours after, according to the state's case, he plotted to murder his wife...

Another clip shows the couple posing for a photo, they are affectionate, look like typical honeymooners.

1011
The photos are taken in a bar area. Anni takes pictures of SD, then a waiter takes pictures of them both. Anni leans into SD, hand on his shoulder, as she speaks to him. SD then holds her and gives her a kiss.
1012
SD is trying to compose himself in the dock, he is taking deep breaths, wipes away tears, sips water.
Judge to PH: Do you concede that they were kissing and cuddling? PH: yes.

PH: That's correct

VZ: Both clips are on their way back. The point is, that was some hours after, according to the state's case, he plotted to have the woman walking with him, whom he is kissing, killed.

PH: Correct

3rd clip: Saturday 13th November 2010. The couple is seen taking photographs at Sevruga's bar area. Then, sit in the booth opposite the bar counter.

Anni snaps pics of Shrien, then a waiter takes pics of the couple.

Anni is seen leaning in to Shrien, hand on his shoulder, as she speaks to him. Shrien then holds her and gives her a kiss.

( after I watched the CCTV, the waiter taking the pics, as soon as he took it they immediately moved apart. jmo)

PH: the accused, when asked when he had communication with Tongo, he says the Saturday. Even then, he didn't say that he spoke to Tongo on that Friday. These intentions here may seem nice to us, but the investigation proves there was a phone call between M. Dewani and Mr Tongo that night. He never told us about the call, nor in the interview with (journalist) Nick Parker.

Shrien wipes away more tears and sips on a bottle of water. He's now bent over, crying. Shrien taking deep breaths to try fight back tears.

PH: the accused, when asked when he had communication with Tongo, he says the Saturday. Even then, he didn't say that he spoke to Tongo on that Friday. These intentions here may seem nice to us, but the investigation proves there was a phonecall between Mr. Dewani and Mr. Tongo that night. He never told us about the call, nor in the interview with Mr. Nick Parker he never disclosed it.

(yesterday must have gone badly in the DT's opinion, so they brought out the clips and SD the tears, jmo. )

VZ: We;ve extracted BBM messages from that phone (Anni's) for the 4th & 5th of November. (records handed to the court)

VZ: It seems like playful communication between the two. (VZ reads the messages)

BBMs refer to Anni having lunch at Nando's. Shrien says he is hungry. Anni says he should call her if he wants to be picked up.

The BBMs reveal Anni found out that the honeymoon was going to be in SA. ((It was supposed to be a surprise))

Shrien smiles as Van Zyl reads the messages

Hindocha family & Shrien's parents (Prakash & Shila) listen intently.

VZ: This is at the same time that those emails were sent between the two. Don't you think that is just bantering between the 2

PH: Yes.

Traverso: Did you know about those BBMs?

PH: Yes

The state has arranged for 2 witnesses. Requests a postponement until Friday, to lead an expert witness coming from Pretoria

The evidence is not in dispute and a list of common cause facts will be drawn up.

VZ says the defence does not have a report for the witness. Mopp says there is a report in the docket but there is a new aspect the witness will be questioned on.
Mopp says she has been asked to draw up a report and hand it to the state & defence today.

Traverso: Surely you knew this before coming to trial. Why is there no report? The police have gone on tv, on Panorama about the state's case. I'm going to grant you the indulgence but I want to know, why only now?

Mopp: We've been trying to get an expert from the police, who is competent, to talk about primer residue & what happens when a shot is fired.

((This follows Pieter Engelbrecht's testimony. He said he wasn't comfortable testifying about primer residue.))

Traverso:I am not going to argue with you any further. I must just express my great displeasure with the way this case is going

(Mopp's in trouble again)

Anni messaged SD about lunch - "mmm Nandos"

1019
Further messages reveal Anni found out the honeymoon was going to be in South Africa (it was supposed to be a surprise). SD smiles as his lawyer reads the messages.
1018
SD responds to Anni's Nandos message by saying he's hungry. Anni says he should call her if he wants to be picked up.

1021
VZ: Would you agree this is banter between two people who have affection for one another, to avoid the word love? PH: yes

Traverso: Did you know about those BBMs?
PH: Yes.
