#DewaniTrial Traverso: "They may have been amateurs but I don't think they would be so stupid to commit crimes for a few thousand Rand."

~rsbm~

So exactly what does the judge think their motive was then? They did actually kill Anni .. so either they did it for the sake of a few thousand rand (i.e. a contract killing on behalf of Dewani) or they did it for nothing/no reason whatsoever

She said she thinks they did it because they thought there was much more in it for them, so I guess she subscribed to the intention to kidnap, hold Annie hostage theory?

Anni's family 'visibly distressed'.

Hardly surprising.

Why do you say that? The people that were responsible for her death have been caught and are currently serving life behind bars, one has died, and one just had their immunity revoked. Is justice incarcerating an innocent man too? And the other option you left out is a robbery or kidnapping going wrong, which is quite obviously, to me anyway, the only plausible theory here.

Exactly! And I do not understand why an accused cannot be convicted on their own, incriminating testimony either.

And I believe the judge was simply wrong to disallow all testimony with regard to sexuality too, and the German escort.

Tongo had absolutely nothing to gain by saying Dewani was involved. I wonder why the judge thinks he made that story up?

Remember Tongo had asked another driver to drive SD and the driver wasn't available -- I could not understand why a statement was not obtained from that person....there just seems to be a lot of sloppiness on part of the PT ...MOO

To me, it's quite obvious it was a contract killing and just because those who carried out the actual killing are now serving time, doesn't mean that the person who wanted it done should get off scot free.

Anni's ring == why wouldn't they demand that along with the cell phones right away if it was just robbery KWIM?

What? He got years shaved off his sentence for saying it!

BBM - well, in the judge's own words, these men would not have killed for a few thousand rand, so if you accept that 'logic' then why would you accept that it have been a robbery? If they thought they stood to gain more by kidnapping her, then they would've done exactly that .. kidnapped her.

I could be wrong on this but I believe his sentence was only reduced by four or five yrs??

"Obvious" eh? Thus you must put down all the inconsistencies, lies, improbabilities that have just been listed amongst the prosecution witnesses as unlucky mistakes or due to memory loss? Are you being that generous to a far far smaller list of discrepancies in Dewani's account?
