Two police officers should always be present when a statement is being taken. That is normal procedure in Oz, but perhaps they do things differently in SA.

Some of the witness documents including the saddest letter written by Jayde. Her sister Toni found it in a dressing table drawer. The last two lines read:

“I wish I laughed as much as I cried. I wish I smiled as much as I frowned.” Just heartbreaking.

Such a sad letter. Jayde was lonely and desperate for a happy family life which never was to be. CP was/is incapable of such a thing but kept her hanging on by promises. This letter was reminiscent of Allison BC's diary. If only they'd given up wishing and escaped, both men have the same mentality...... wife is deemed as the problem and expendable.

Jayde had such a beautiful smile and looked so happy on her wedding day. Probably thought after 10 yrs in a rocky relationship, marriage would fix it . He has no heart! JMO

No, McLaren did read him his rights:

TP: You indicated to us that you warned Vumazonke of his rights, and you certainly do indicate in your diary that you warned him, but can you tell us what rights you warned him of?
GM: The right to remain silent, and anything he says will be taken down and can be used against him, and his right to legal [counsel]

GM: And if he could not afford the legal services, one would be provided to him

Tears as court is shown photos of Jayde Panayiotou’s body

She was shot three times, in the chest, arm, and head. Bekker said the bullet wound to the head showed she was shot in close proximity to the ground.
The court was shown a close-up of her face. Her head was in a pool of blood.
Christopher showed little emotion. His face occasionally turned red. Sometimes he looked down at his feet.

On Monday, Jayde’s mother Michelle Inggs, her sister Toni and the school teacher’s friend Cherise Swanepoel held each other’s hands and sobbed for close to an hour while looking at picture after picture depicting the last moments of Jayde’s life. They continued to sit through Bekker’s testimony despite being visibly shaken by the visuals.

Panayiotou’s mother, Fanoula Panayiotou, also cried while other members of the Panayiotou family sat with their heads bowed as the pictures – Jayde wearing a hoodie that was pulled over her head – were shown on an overhead screen.

Various images showed the extent of Jayde’s injuries including cuts to her fingers, likely from when her rings were ripped off or the boot slamming shut on her hand.

It's sickening to consider the fear Jayde must have felt from the moment of her abduction and what was going to befall her. I just can't imagine how parents deal with this.

This really takes the cake ... literally. It's CP's 30th birthday today and his family have brought a birthday cake into court. Nothing like having a celebration in the midst of a murder trial. This is truly disgusting.
