Low case count? "As we continue to make adjustments to our internal database for more streamlined tracking of electronically reported test results (both COVID-19 and other disease test results), today's case numbers remain expectedly low as they reflect only results submitted to DHEC by email or fax."

DHEC announces 229 new COVID-19 cases Thursday as reporting delay continues
"Of the 20 deaths reported, one was a pediatric death (17 or younger), five were middle-aged (ages 35-64) and 14 were elderly people (ages 65 and up)."

From the link - electronic lab report (ELR) glitch to be resolved: "In an effort to make improvements to DHEC's internal process for ELR reporting, a technical update to the database resulted in unexpected delays for ELRs being fully included in our daily reports from Sept. 24-Oct 2. The issue has been resolved and testing and case numbers will resume normal reporting beginning tomorrow."

"Percent Positive
The total number of individual test results reported to DHEC yesterday statewide was 1,991 (not including antibody tests) and the percent positive was 32.6%.

The high percent positive reported out today is a result of the delayed electronic lab reports (ELRs) that DHEC is processing, as detailed in yesterday’s news release. A detailed breakdown of the delayed test results per day during the time period affected, Sept. 24-Oct 2., is being compiled and will be provided."

DHEC: 619 new COVID-19 cases, 12 additional deaths announced in SC
"As of Sunday morning, DHEC says 78.22% of inpatient beds in South Carolina are in use while 73.29% of ICU beds are in use.

There are 599 hospitalized patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 or are under investigation for having the virus, DHEC said. Of those, 153 COVID-19 patients are in the ICU.

DHEC is reporting 1,507 ventilators available in the state with 376 of them in use. COVID-19 patients account for 72 of those."

No, South Carolina likely doesn't have the lowest COVID-19 transmission in America
"For those who follow COVID numbers religiously, the claim itself was a red flag. South Carolina is still gaining new COVID cases at the same rate as the national average."

I knew it sounded fishy with our case rate (859 on Thursday) and consistently high percent positive (11.8%).

DHEC: 860 new COVID-19 cases, 21 additional deaths announced in SC
"As of Saturday morning, DHEC says 83.15% of inpatient beds in South Carolina are in use while 73.91% of ICU beds are in use.

There are 728 hospitalized patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 or are under investigation for having the virus, DHEC said. Of those, 179 COVID-19 patients are in the ICU.

DHEC is reporting 1,554 ventilators available in the state with 449 of them in use. COVID-19 patients account for 93 of those."
