I have not seen that before, although I have seen reference to it in comments, and I have searched for it...lol...thanks for sharing. I also notice "on blogger since Sept, 09" although, this may have been written sooner. ETA: it's dated, Oct/09
Seeing her words about "values" is haunting. And how happy she was...it's just heartbreaking it ended like this.

School to Blame for Phoebe Prince's Death?
Prince Family Friend Says School Didn't React to Warnings Months Before Girl Hanged Herself
"But Darby O'Brien, a friend of the Prince family, said on "The Early Show" Wednesday, the charges are appropriate.

"The (district attorney) took a very tough stand, and I think what the community's asking now and a lot of other people is, 'What about the adults? What about the school officials who, you know, run the school? How are we going to take them to task?' Because they're the ones who could have stepped in and stopped it."
So should everyone -- including the educators at Prince's school -- have some share in the blame for the girl's death?

Dr. Jennifer Hartstein, a child and adolescent psychologist, said, "Everybody needs to take some responsibility in this tragedy. The school does have a responsibility. You entrust your child's well-being to them for eight hours a day. And there was -- one of the charges is disruption of a school assembly -- so there was something going on in school. There needed to be more awareness and more attention to that. And because it was missed, we don't know what could have been prevented."

Sayer double talk...now, kids knew...but Teachers didn't? Boy...getting straight answers from this fella is like pulling teeth...imo

""They are young kids and they don't always do the right things, but yes, there were kids who knew. I don't know how many kids knew, based on the report we got. It was common knowledge among some students. I'm not sure it was common knowledge among all, but it certainly was known to many students," Superintendent Sayer said.

There is "a great deal of similarity" between the investigations forged by the district attorney and the school's principal, according to Sayer. He said that the same group of students and specific incidents are referenced in both reports.

Sayer admitted that, not having seen the entire district attorney's report, some information may not be included in the principal's investigation, of no fault of his own.

"It is possible that he missed a couple of things, not because of an error -- that they just weren't reported to him," Sayer said. "It's possible that there were staff members that knew things that they should've reported to him, but they didn't. But we don't know of any instances of that."

"If we find out that there were staff members who knew of these abuses that were taking place and failed to report them, we will have to take disciplinary action," Sayer said.

General statements that unnamed staff members witnessed acts of bullying, he said, are not enough to be investigated by his administration. He invited information on specific allegations that could be investigated.
Maybe they could ask the D.A. who might have seen bullying? Maybe then, he could meet and ask the person? Hmm...seems easy enough. If truth is what's being sought...

Do you think this might have been Phoebe's blog? I noticed some of the other linked bloggers were English students, whoever wrote the blog entries had a beautiful way with their words. thanks for posting.

Yes, it is...I found it through a FB link one of her friends posted, seems like at least one was done as an English class assignment and then reviewed by others in the class, also as part of the assignment.

A different perspective...a local bloggers take...this blogger approves of Gus Sayer, :waitasec: which makes me suspicious, to start. But that's me...;)
" I was particularly impressed with the gentleman running the meeting, Gus Sayer, the superintendant. It is hard enough to run any meeting, but when you have CBS, 22News and at least one more news group hanging on your every word, it is intimidating. After he supported his staff, as expected, he did also say that “we need to learn if we did things improperly, so that something like this doesn’t happen again.” He clearly is open to truly finding a solution as opposed to simply defending his actions and those of his colleagues. In addition, Mr. Sayer has already addressed the school committee and asked for additional funding for various programs that he knows the school will want to put in place, and those funds have been approved. With the economy the way it is presently, that is quite an accomplishment."

Ok, I'm trying to be good...trying.

As a black chick I know that if pheobe was black and people were calling her the N word or a black W**** it would be a different story. The school would have acted quicker IMO. The whole girl "problems" and its just typical is full of it. There are PLENTY of people who date, make up, break up and etc in high school. I am raising my nephew and what happened in South Hadley is not typical at all!!!

Yes, kids get teased of bullied at times, but why is this normal or accepted? some people act like it is a rite of passage or something? School should be about getting an education. You shouldnt have to pull your kid out of school cause they are being bullied. You shouldnt have to alter your life cause people can't raise their kids decently and arent decent people themselves. My GOD!

No, not all kids behave correctly in school, but it seems that the ones that don't should be removed from school and no excuses.

Now for my soap box:

This is what I mean people. Something is wrong with us in our society on our wonderful planet called earth. The inmates are running the asylum! Common courtesy and kindness should be the norm and not the exception!! Is it really so hard to expect teens to be nice to each other or at least leave a person the h*** alone. If you don't like someone fine, great, but harrassment is never the logical next step. It's like we have all regressed in the evolutionary scale. Acting like a fool is rewarded now. I know its hard to prosecute, but law MUST set a legal precident in this case. People have to know that if you continue on then there will be legal action.

Those cowards had PP out numbered, overwhelmed and backed into a corner. So what if PP brought a gun to school and tried to kill them? Then what? She would be in jail and the fault hers. Death or suicide should never be the answer. There is no way that anyone can convince me that those kids didnt talk about Pheobe killing herself. I'm sure they made a joke about it. I know a kid that was teased and even 13 years ago people would joke about what if he killed himself? Those kids wanted Pheobe to hurt. They were jealous of her on some level.

Has any of them even apologized??? I am so angry. Just angry over this. I rarely get this worked up, but statement that people don't understand their little town just smacks of small town rationalizing and bull crud.

Bravo!

and no one has apologized, from my understanding.

As internet records, including craigslist, have been subpoenaed, I wonder if police have spoken to this child for info? If this is legit...it feels and reads authentic to me, though...

"As a student of SH and who knows all the immature kids in involved in what ended with Phoebe's death, I am so pissed at our school's counseling staff for not doing more. I know that the mean treatment and abuse was reported to the school guidance counselors and school pscyh, but because of confidential crap they did nothing (that I know of). Not knowing what else to do, I'm asking people to contact them and demand they break their silence in the protection of someone's mental and physical safety - even if it is too late for Phoebe - they could encourage those involved to speak up and tell the truth for her family. Now they are protecting their jobs. I don't trust them anymore.
Please tell them what you think! Brenda Ewing is the school's Psychologist at bewing @ shschools.com, Sally Menkel, the guidance counselor, sally @ shschools.com, and even Penny Beebe, pbeebe @ shschools.com

The Renaud family think Austin is a prince...ya, right! And girls like Ashley, Sharon and Flannery were known to hate PP. I sometimes saw her being harassed after school, but was afraid to speak out, but I did confide in my school counselor. Hmm, what did they do about it?

Guess it's too late for Phoebe, but hopefully not others

On a personal note, if authentic, kudos to this poster, I feel like they are really trying to help...reaching out. I hope someone listens...

ETA: not sure if this is a repeat...they have all blurred together...;) ETA: I am NOT advocating an email campaign.

I do not know what to make of this...but thought I'd post in case it becomes relevant...it appears to be a pic of someone on the ground...with others surrounding them...

Odd, isn't it? This response was posted in answer to what is it?
Síocháin Loscann
Its an image taken by a person who will live the rest of their life with regret that all that they did was take a picture with their camera phone. Regret that grows everytime a new picture of Phoebe appears.

Regret that might prove unendurable and if so they feel like thats just fine....the way it should be.

I'm glad someone else asked specifically if it was Phoebe. I don't think it is, but it would be good to clear it up.

ETA: Here is the pic:

Thank you, raeann.

She was such a thoughtful girl, wasn't she? Her head was directed toward deeper matters than most kids her age.

So wonderful to see how close she was to her daddy and treasured their nightly talks... and so sad to know how she must have missed him. :( The poor man must be gutted.

My suspicion? It was a beat down of Phoebe. I don't know if it was that day. Strange thing? No one has objected to it being posted. Mods over there seem to be okay with it...that tells me something...we'll see. I really do hope not.

ETA: and that poster seems very legit, to me, from other comments and pics she's posted...

I'm the one that asked if it was Phoebe or not. I got the vibe from the poster's response in the picture thread that it might be. That person, using the name Síocháin Loscann on Facebook, has no info showing, and appears to be a member of just that one Facebook group.

Thanks for piping up, Laurence! :) Interesting info...and thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

I recall reports she was chased around the school, that last day, and just wonder if someone might have caught something with a cell phone...

Thanks, Paladine, for keeping us updated on this with all of your links.
RIP Phoebe, may you be in a place with only goodness and love.

Been lurking a few days so I figured it was time to contribute something. I've wondered the same thing (if somebody phone camera snapped anything from that last day) which is why that picture jumped out at me so quick when I saw it.

In unrelated news the Expel the girls group on Facebook appears to be missing. Temporary Facebook hiccup or did it get deleted? It was getting overrun with trolls so getting deleted may not be a bad thing.
