Southwest Flight Attendant Tries to Boot Hooters Waitress From Plane Over Clothing

I think that is a different topic entirely.
Simply something you will have to teach at home.

The real issue is if the SWA had the right to do this to THIS girl in THAT outfit. (or anyone else not breaking an indecency law)
If some mother with children had some issue she should have been told to shut the hell up and mind her own business...
Or maybe told that rather then teaching her children how one should not dress she was teaching them to be judgemental. Or perhaps she has some chip on her shoulder to match her never ending stretchmarks and wide a$$???

The article did only make reference to employee's having some issues.

I will say this the majority of airline stewardesses or what ever the heck they wish to be called this week are arrogant B*****.
I have only ever met one that is nice to be around.
Since 9/11 the arrogance and sense of authority has only gotten worse ...
Apparently everyone has forgotten to remind the little darlings that regardless of what they call themselves they are still glorified waitresses in the air.
jeez, dislkie flight attendants? I don't see any need to bash a profession. Some of the posters on her may be flight attendants. Nothing wrong with waitresses or flight attendants. it's an honest living. I don't know if your mothers with fat butts and kids coment is directed at me and furthermore I don't care. Step back a little please, i am waving my white flag and wont post anymore on this subject.

She flew into AZ for a doctors appt and was flying right back to CA...She was so traumatized by the whole thing she got right back on the plane wearing the same outfit....LOL

It must be really important for her to go to that doctors appointment if she has to leave CA (with its large network of hospitals and specialists) to go to AZ. I'm thinking of the Mayo clinic (just a guess / assumption)? To have someone do that to you when you're going to a very important doctors appointment when you are having to FLY to like that... I'd be TICKED!!!! You know, people don't wear just wear inappropriate stuff to the doctors office. They usually just don't - so I think this guy was probably just really going out of his way to single her out - for whatever reason.

Are you having a bad day, Am? It was a male flight attendant who spoke to this girl, and I don't think having a dress code makes one a fat judgemental 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬.

A business has a right to enforce a dress code if they choose. Personally I don't think flashing your panties at the world is really appropriate in a public place. But that's just me.

First off TY Nova and Paladin:)

I did mean those of both sexes....
But I should clarify that I harbor NO issue with on the ground waiters or waitresses...
My point was the stewardesses are "glorified waitress's" but tend to act holy than thou.

That being said 2 sisters..
I do see the need to bash a profession that is suppose to be customer service and is not.
Its more like arrogant witch's who some how feel that they are entitled to respect or some cookie when they are merely glorified waitresses.
My friend was a stewardess for 35 years and she would more then agree...
Please also note I said the majority!!!!NOT ALL.

As for the fat butt comment you must have not read every post on the thread...
As someone posted that maybe a mother with children complained..
(as if that would make it OK)
MY comment was directed to what I thought of a mother and what she should have been told if that is in fact what occured.
Why you would think it was towards you is totally beyond me.
But obviously you did care or you would not have commented.

It was not towards you as I stated above.. I do not think I am the one in need of a step back as I am not getting upset over the thread.

and again ... this is not about how teens dress in general but how the airlines treat people.

Actually the article claimed that more then one employee complained he was just the one who said something to her.

There is NO dress code on a flight except those that covered by indecent exposure laws. Clearly this girl was not anywhere near exposing herself.
A private business can do as it wishes but airlines thrive off of federal dollars.. and raping their employees retirement funds with government blessing and then going bankrupt.

Having a dress code has nothing to do with a theoretical mother with children who complained and how I think she should have been handled.
If everyone on a plane was removed then because some nasty person complained needlessly?? The planes would be empty.

This girl was doing nothing illegal nor acting inappropriate. So her harassment was totally unwarranted.
If she wishes to flash her undies its not really illegal.... Furthermore I find polyester and pants that go up to ones waste really tacky as well as t-shirts. I do not however think that someone wearing those items should be harassed because I find them tacky.

I see nothing wrong with this young womans outfit, I think she is pretty.
She's pretty with a fantastic figure. I am very skeptical about this posed photo, though. I feel certain that the way that she was wearing her outfit was in poor taste. I just do not believe the attendant would have approached her otherwise.

That being said, this young lady will mature and realize that you do not have to flaunt everything that you have. She is definitely pretty enough and has a great enough figure to attract attention without looking like a, oh well, a Hooter's waitress, for goodness sake.

P.S. My husband would have been oogling her, I feel certain. He would have elbowed me and said, "Get a load of that gal."

I don't think we can be sure of that nan...
Remember the airline employee who kicked the mom of the plane a few months ago because the one year old was babbling cheerfully???
I could totally see and airline employee doing this without even stretching my imagination.

I saw this on Fox News this morning. I didn't really think her outfit that bad at all. At least she wasn't wearing her Hooters waitress orange shorts and tied up T-shirt.

I agree with Angelmom, somewhat only. I do remember the days when airline and even train travel was done with dignity. A suit was what my great-aunts always wore when we met them at the train station for a visit. I wore a skirt suit when I traveled. It was just done. I have modified my attire for airline travel now. I do not wear shorts to travel. Those planes can get damn cold. Slacks for me. Nice slacks at that. In my opinion, the nicer you appear, the better you are treated. It's ok to be casual, but I wouldn't travel in cutoffs and cheap flip-flops and a T-shirt.

Now as to a dress code. No problem at all with that, BUT the airline needs to advertise that code when you book your flight. When you go online to get a ticket, they could certainly mention a dress code in the list they seem to have. It's unfair to decide a passenger is not dressed properly when no written code is anywhere to be found. Perhaps they should supply unisex jogging type pants and jackets for a passenger to use during the flight. Kind of like the resturants that require a jacket and/or tie have them available. Good business practice. Accomodating a customer and all that.

As for "flight attendants", I have generally a good opinion of the ones I have met. I generally don't ask for much, so I have little extended contact. I have seen a couple of surly attendants, but not at me, but other passengers. I do have a particularly favorite one though. That would be Maurice from Frontier. I had him both ways on a Denver to Portland trip. What a hoot! Cheerful, helpful, accomodating and entertaining.

Where do they train these people? Hitler Youth Camp?

I think I've figured it out...this must be a different Southwest Airlines. Apparently, the one cited in the news article is actually based in Southwest Afghanistan.

I'd love to hear from any flight attendants who post here! I realize they do a difficult job under tight deadlines and I promise you I do everything I can to cooperate.

And perhaps my impression is wrong, which is why I'd love to hear things from an attendants' perspective. But in my experience, airline personnel from ticket agents to attendants have become quite commonly rude and authoritarian even in situations where safety is not an issue. This strikes me as quite odd behavior from a customer-service profession.

To put it more simply, I would NEVER treat a flight attendant (or any other service worker) the way I commonly see flight attendants treat passengers. What gives?!

I'm flying Southwest in a few weeks. I'd better shut up here before I end up on a list.

What nerve this airlines has. I don't care if her skirt WAS very short or if she was showing cleavage. Their job is to fly her to her destination safely. Period.

I don't have a problem with people wearing whatever. I tend to have a European attitude about it -- nothing wrong with nudity and I much prefer it to violence.

I completely agree with Paladin's posts as well.

Oh, Am, have you ever flown Frontier?? They have the best flight attendants. And they don't charge $3 for a tiny bag of chips!!

Damn...so when are they going to stone her? That'll teach her to show up in public without her burka!!!

I haven't flown Southwest in a long, long time. However, when I did fly them, they were really the nicest bunch of airline attendants.

I must say that I agree with you and Nova and all others who commented about how rude and obnoxious most have become since 9/11. Because we can't say anything for fear of being thrown off the plane, we sit there and act thankful that they are "allowing" us to pay for our seats and be there. It does p*ss me off. I feel sorry for my husband because he flies quite a bit.

This one-quart baggy rule is ridiculous, too.

See my post above (last one on page 2). I agree about Frontier. Very good service, especially when you get Maurice. I think he just likes people.
