Found Deceased Spain - Rebecca Muldoon, 35, British, Marbella, 2 Jan 2018

  • #21
So let me see if I have the facts right:

1. The couple were on the run together for several years due to the husband being wanted for crimes committed in the UK.

2. The husband gets arrested in Spain for assaulting Rebecca.

3. Rebecca goes missing while her husband is detained.

4. They found a body matching Rebecca's description on the beach.

5. Husband is arrested a second time.

If he really was with the police when she went missing, is it possible she thought they were finally caught and committed suicide? Or felt suicide was a means of escape from his abuse? Or was she trying to find another means of escape via the sea and had an accident? Hmmmm....

And where are her children?

Rebecca is known to have been deeply unhappy with Muldoon and had tried to leave him last year. She was described as 'vulnerable' after her disappearance.

Rebecca's two children from a previous relationship are now being cared for in the UK by her mum.

I believe her children were collected by family and brought back to the UK once she was reported missing.

I'm not quite sure on your Q 2 + 3. Was she already missing when husband was first detained, or was she missing after he was detained?
The timelines aren't too clear imo.

Thanks, I'm not sure either. This is where the info comes from of his being in custody of police when she went missing:

Officials have confirmed Mr Muldoon, who Rebecca met in the UK and married in the States after moving to Los Angeles briefly before her return to Europe, was in custody when she went missing.

He is believed to be still under formal investigation on suspicion of domestic violence - but was released after the court no-show by his wife and told only that he must attend court for further questioning as and when required. He could not be reached for comment today.

Yes I remember reading that. Just wondered if the authorities only knew she was missing because of the 'no show' on his court appearance. I must go back and re-read all the articles about her leaving the children with a friend to find out when she was last seen.

That might be, I'm not sure. It is not clear to me how long he had been in custody.

This is from August.

She had been living in Vigil de Quiñones in Marbella until she vanished from her home on January 2 this year and did not return.

When Rebecca disappeared, her children, aged eight and 10 at the time, were reportedly left on their own.

[...]

An initial post-mortem examination conducted in Spain found Rebecca's provisional cause of death as asphyxiation by submersion.

A second post-mortem exam carried out in the UK proved inconclusive soon after her repatriation back to the country.

[...]

A full inquest into her death was adjourned to January 29, 2019.
