I been thinking... aside from some documents in belongings next to body there's been no other form of identification. Given the trouble locating the person named on the I'd - fake Id?

That document is likely to have been a passport though I reckon, not impossible but not that easy to fake. Who the heck is he?!

I gather it's not as rare as we imagine. It's just that men are less likely to go to the police than women are because of the additional "shame" factor since men expect to be able to look after themselves.

New info from the IBTimes:

A post-mortem revealed that Allford, who is said have been living homeless in the Spanish city, died of asphyxiation, choking on his vomit after drinking a large amount of alcohol. His body showed no signs of violence.

According the Spanish newspaper Sur, Allford was a known homeless schizophrenic in the area and was found with the trolley he would regularly be seen pushing around. Police also noted the "strong odour given off by the body" when it was discovered, which indicated Allford had been drinking the night before.

I'm not sure now, that lifestyle doesn't seem to sit with being a homeless, alcoholic, schizophrenic. Not that I know anything whatsoever about either lol! We shall see, surely some more info will come out.

Oh man, poor guy

With this new information it looks to me now like, he was very drunk and some "friends" thought it would be fun if they position him the way they did, thinking he'd feel terribly embarrassed when he wakes up. Much like a stag prank gone wrong in fact.

Maybe he wasn't liked in the homeless community?

There's only 3 profiles with that name on fb. Have looked at all 3. Can't find what is being talked about.

Well I'm doubting he's going to be on fb given this new development. I did think perhaps he was a vagrant. Drinking games gone wrong?

He might have been born outside of England/Wales but I don't know how to check other countries. I asked about checking American records just in case he is substeve who has a connection to the US. Anyway, god knows, we might not hear much more if he is a family-less vagrant and there is no involvement from the UK police. Hopefully the media will keep us up to date but I'm not holding out much hope. Sometimes these super weird cases seem to get swept under the carpet!

I've worked with some people with MH issues who have changed their names to that of famous people who they have a fondness of..just wondered if that may be the case as I can't find anything relating to him. He may have been born outside UK but don't think he would be referred to as a British mam. ..

Steve Alford was Indiana's prep player Mr. Basketball in 1983. He played for Bobby Knight at Indiana, medaled at the Olympic Games, and played pro ball.

Alford has coached college ball at Missouri State, The University of New Mexico, and the UCLA Bruins.

Long ago I lived in that galaxy far away, Indiana, where this stuff really, really matters....

If he was born anywhere outside the UK but in a British family, then they migrated back to the UK when he was still a child, or even as an adult, he would still be British, no? But no birth records in the UK.
