There's a few mysteries to this case the are baffling............

Cadaver dogs hit on the master bedroom in the Peterson home, Stacy's car, and near a pond at the airport. Yet, a neighbor reported that he saw DP and an unidentified man loading a blue barrel/container into Peterson's Denali in the late evening of Oct. 28. Thomas Morphey helped DP load a blue rectangular container into DP's Denali. Why didn't the cadaver dogs hit on the Denali? Why did they hit on Stacy's car?

The other mystery is the nightstand in the master bedroom. According to reports, it was there during the first police search, and missing during the second. What happened to that nightstand, and what's the significance of the nightstand?

I really believe that DP set up TM to think he helped move Stacy's body, in order to throw off investigators. (Knowing of Tom's "fragile" mental state, DP knew that Tom would go to the cops with whatever information DP had fed him.)

I think he transported the body in her car and the blue barrel is nothing but a red herring.

Regarding the nightstand, maybe during the struggle the nightstand was damaged. He was able to set it up so that it looked "right" for the first search, but he knew that if they searched again they would see that it was broken, so he got rid of it between searches 1 and 2.

The nightstand actually was from the house Drew and Kathleen shared. After Kathleen's death it was removed from that house to the house Stacy and Drew shared. I have always thought that Drew removed it between searches because he was afraid that either DNA was left there or cadaver dogs would hit on it due to Kathleens' death, not Stacy's. And wouldn't that have been ultra ironic!

YES!

DD, do we know when (per the conversation with her minister) Stacy first KNEW that Drew P murdered Kathleen?

Concerning the blue barrel / container. I have also thought that Stacy was transported in her car either to her eventual "grave" or to another vehicle, due to the Denali never being hit on by the dogs. The blue barrell or container may have held chlorine ..infact there may two. One that Thomas spoke of and the other blue barrell in the garage with the chlorine. Drew may have put sheets, clothing, etc in the one upstairs, filled it with chlorine and left it near a heater vent immediately after Stacy was killed. Then by the time Thomas got there it would have been warm to the touch and heavy. Drew would have gotten rid of both barrels of chlorine at that point...maybe one was already in the Denali but he needed help with the other one. In either case..one barrel went to the site that Stacy is buried to further decomp, the other went a separate way. I don't think that Drew was thinking ahead to throw off police as much as he was just thinking to get the body and any evidence out of his home. I truly believe that Stacy's body left in her car, that was because he thought that her car being gone and her body being in it would serve two purposes..to cover his story for a while and that because Stacy's car already had her smell he did not think of dogs hitting on it other then that being the norm..he forgot about cadaver dogs and their being able to smell the death scent. That was one of his first mistakes. Moving the nightstand was his third...it was obviously missing the next time LE came. His second mistake was taking Cass' call when he was out and about disposing of things at 11pm. And after his second mistake I am at a loss as to just how and what he did to try to cover all this up, other then getting rid of the nightstand.

And actually there may be three containers. One like the one Ric Mimms talks about from the cable company, the next the one both Sharon and Cassandra have seen in the garage and third would be the one that was more rectangular that Thomas helped move.
When you are trying to cover a murder in a home you need to remove the body and then anything that has any trace of the murder itself about it..including DNA and the death scent.

Per the conversation with the minister Stacy knew Drew had murdered Kathleen in the early morning hours of the night it happened..when she found him at 3 am or so in the laundry room in the black clothes..a confession of sorts about the perfect crime insued.

Leila, Do we actually know that the dogs hit on Stacy's car and not Drew's Denali? Unless this came from an official source, I don't know how we could know. I'm wondering if this isn't one of those things that started as a rumor and then became fact.

In terms of the nightstand, if it was somehow involved in the crime or got damaged in the crime, Drew no doubt got rid of it. Again, do we know from an official source that it was there during the first search but missing for the second?

I don't think Drew was in a state of mind to try to throw off investigators. This is a guy who doesn't think too highly of women, especially his wives. They're expendable. If they aren't that important, why would anyone be interested that they're missing? What he tried to do was show that Stacy was alive with the phone call to his cell phone. Then when Morphey helped Drew move the barrel, he wouldn't think it could possibly be Stacy because after all, she just called Drew. This guy was busy covering his tracks, not trying to throw off investigators.

All of these inane sightings and anonymous tips? That is the kind of thing Drew does to deflect attention from him, nothing more elaborate.

Where the dogs hit has never been disclosed by LE, I don't think. It was I believe Sharon who was the source on where the dogs hit or Cass.

The nightstand missing is from Sharon and Cass also..as LE had photographs of the bedroom from the first search and then photos from the second search. In the photos of the second search the nightstand was not there. LE asked both Cass and Sharon to go to the master bedroom and see what was missing or if the furniture had been rearranged. I believe they both have stated at that point in time the nightstand was no longer there.

Yes Delta, it was Sharon who said the dogs 'hit' on Stacy's car. The media said they hit on the M-bedroom and at the garage that's why I had posted the small photo of the dog at the garage door.

False hits.

Moreover, the type of evidence that would favor the defense.

Personally, I would question the dog info just because of where and when the information came to light - easy confusion in the initial investigation, but have a tendency to believe the nightstand information. There are pictures and Cass obviously would have been very familiar with the furniture.

And do we know if these were in fact cadaver dogs..or just dogs that can follow a scent. I do not remember whether or not LE ever mention that it was cadaver dogs there, or if the press just surmised that info. I would have thought they would have used both types of dogs as this was very early on in the case.

Good point. It's so easy to make an early observation, ask a question, then someone pick it up and run with it and it suddenly becomes a fact. I don't think we actually know anything specific about the dogs except that they were there - because we saw them.

This is posted in the Media thread as well. I'm pasting that link and also a quote that DP says.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,327047,00.html

"The ex-cop told the newspaper he would not mind getting legal advice from Chicago attorney Corri Fetman, who is expected to appear in Playboy magazine and has promoted her practice in racy billboard ads, according to the paper.

"If she wants to go out for drinks, give me a call," he told The Herald News."

I honest to god cannot stand this man. What a 🤬🤬🤬...

He says in the article that he can't get a divorce for a year, that he has to wait and see if she "shows up" and then he has to wait for a year. What does that mean? That if she shows up, in her bikini, in Peoria then he can serve papers but has to wait a year? Or does it mean if she doesn't show up (which he is very confident she will not) then he has to wait a year? Anyone here know what the divorce law is in Illinois?

How can you state with certainty they were false hits? What are you basing this on?

The pond combined with Stacy's car.
