I have read the "blue barrel" rumor several times, but I don't know if it's a fact or not.

Illinois State Police have expressed interest in a barrel once at the Peterson home. Searchers focused on that but came up empty Saturday.

Investigators also asked Hudetz if there were any "barrels" at the airfield.

Those are the main mentions in the online media. There's been mention of a barrel on Fox News several times this past week which is what got our attention.

State's Atty. James Glasgow said last week that his office was reviewing the investigation of Savio's death. Savio's family members said they welcome reopening the investigation, even if it includes exhuming her body. The state's attorney's office has discussed that possibility, officials said.

"Are we open to it? Are you kidding?" asked her sister, Anna Marie Doman. "She'd be having a party up there. I know [exhumation] is kind of creepy, but if that's what it takes, that's what it takes."

With 4th wife missing, 3rd wife's death being rechecked, 2nd wife scared of him, it sounds like LE may have a serial wife killer on their hands... perhaps it is time to recheck how wife #1 died, as well. :(

A massive coronary caused by poisoning, maybe?? :behindbar

This just gets worse and worse. I think he is a serial murderer who has gotten away with it for years. Unbelivable!

Sadly, yes... :(

Really? What happened or do you know? This is unbelievable. 1st wife, 3rd wife, 4th wife and possibly the 4th wife's mother.

I think Suzie Q got the info on the first wife off of the Greta site... she is thought to have died of a massive coronary.

To clear up the confusion surrounding wife #1. This was an unsubstianted rumor which was clarified after extensive research by Greta's people that she is still alive and living in California.

I don't know how to link it, but if you go to gretawire you will see what she wrote on this matter. She posted it at 7:58 am this morning.

Do we know when the first wife died? Did she die of the coronary before he married the 2nd wife or were they divorced and she died at a later time? A lot of drugs can bring on a massive coronary (Yes, I watch too much Forensic Files).

She isn't dead. I just read the correction from Greta. It was a rumor...I have linked it below.

Thank you Littledeer! It was driving me crazy. I couldn't find a thing on her.

Thank you LittleDeer! One mystery solved and it is good to know the 1st wife was able to get out alive.

Ah, Greta's rumor was different than the one I was chasing. The one I was chasing indicated that wife #1 had passed away before Drew married wife #2. The one Greta was chasing was wife #1 had passed away day before yesterday. That was the "strange developement" Greta and her people were trying to confirm yesterday.

http://gretawire.foxnews.com/2007/11/08/thursday-how-crazy-can-this-business-get-dont-answer/

(snip)
Incidentally, to answer the question, “how crazy can this business get?” - I need to give you some behind the scenes from yesterday. Early yesterday morning I got acall (which turned out to be FALSE FALSE FALSE information) that Sgt. Drew Peterson’s first wife had coinicidentally died the night before of natural causes. Steph and Cory (OTR Producer Cory Howard) began that investigation (meanwhile they had a ton of other things to do in Illinois.) Their investigation was hampered by the fact that wife # 1 lives (yes, LIVES) in another state. As the day passed, a SECOND person said the wife #1 died the night before. Now we had two sources, but it just did not seem right (so we did not, of course, report it) and we were also fearful that our 2 sources were really one source — that they had both learned the information (false) from the same person.
Well….it was not until about 7pm that we confirmed that wife #1 is ALIVE AND WELL (and that it was just a crazy - and lousy - rumor floating around Bolingbrook, Illinois.)

So now the coroner is backing off on the accidental death determination?

According to the news last night, the coroner did not agree with the findings of the coroner's jury, BUT was powerless to overturn it.

A law was recently passed that now allows the coroner to overrule the findings of the coroner's jury, and he is now using that power.

They said last night on the news that the coroner does not believe the death is accidental and they have reopened the investigation into Kathleen Savio's death.

"November 7, 2007 - The Will County coroner says the cause of the 2004 death of a Bolingbrook police sergeant's former wife should have been ruled "undetermined.""

Actually, it probably should have been ruled a homicide. I don't like this dude. Way too interested in covering his own behind. I wonder how many of the deaths he oversees are guided to his funeral home?

If I recall correctly, the system was changed early this year. I think all jurisdictions should require a Coroner with a medical license and background.

Illinois law PREVENTED the coroner from overruling the determination of "accidental death" by the jury back in 2004.

The law has since CHANGED and now allows him to overrule the jury's ruling, which he has. There is no covering of HIS behind. HE was powerless to overrule the jury's determination at the time! Maybe the jury was paid off to rule "accidental death"....
