I know many dislike Barbara Walters but I have the most respect for that woman. She has blazed many trails and has managed to not burn *many* bridges in the process! She has class and has been welcomed by leaders all over the world....

With that being said, how thick must Star Jones be to have not picked up one good lesson in these last 9 years :banghead:

Seriously, talk about burning bridges...man, Star chose the Golden Gate with that little episode! If she does get back on TV I predict it will be some tabloid thingy...the very thing she disliked so very much :D :D :D

Good post, Lynie. :)

I am in agreement with you, as I also have much respect for Barbara Walters and her considerable accomplishments.

IMO - she was well suited for a career in journalism and certain made her mark - including blazing a path for many other young women in a primarily male dominated field. Major kudos to her for all her hard work! :)

I guess, in the last 4-5 years, I've just tired of Barbara's massive ego getting in the way of bringing entertainment & interview pieces into the public domain. For some reason, I've always felt that she was oddly out-of-place with the other women of 'The View'.

For more years than I can remember, I've enjoyed Barbara's journalistic endeavors, documentaries & special interview programs. However - Barbara's co-hosting and participating in that particular "View" venue of dueling egos just never quite appealed to me. Not comfortable with bitchiness, caustic or crude remarks and rumor-mongering. Not my cup of tea, I guess .. and I really didn't feel it fit Barbara's image either.

I'd love to see "someone fun with true class, quick wit & intelligence" step in to Star's vacated spot. I do remember hearing all the rumors that Gayle King was being considered but never heard if she was even interested. I also remember that Oprah made an appearance on the View (her first & only visit) in that same timeframe that Gayle was being discussed. Could have been a coincidence .. but, maybe not.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

Well shoot, I was hoping for a genuine, full blown cat fight. I'd love to see Star and BaBa WaWa "throw down." How this show ever survived is a mystery. All these women are like a gaggle of gossiping geese.

Did they give any reason for her leaving? I'd just like to have heard how they couched it.

I never did care for Star and I can't hack the irritating voice of the blond girl, so I just don't watch.

I really can't see Rosie fitting into the group discussion - she's quite overbearing imo.

Rumour has it Gayle King (Oprah's friend) will be taking Star's spot.
Wow. What a great opportunity for Gayle. She will fit in just fine with the original type personalities, but I agree that Rosie seems an odd choice. She will provide contrast though, esp with Barbara and Gayle/

Barbara, of course. LOL! She is the show's creator so I guess that makes her the boss. ABC has the real power though. They can pull the plug any time they want. Big mistake for Star to do battle with them.

herhaircut has nothing to do with anything unless u are taking a pot shot at her sexuality..which is not funny..there are a hell of alot of straight women with short hair..and plenty of gay women with long hair..there are more straight women with short hair than there are gay women with short hair by virtue of numbers..rosie has never been a fashion queen type though she was the homecoming queen during highschool..I just really get bugged with gay jokes..it doesnt matter if she is gay and out-she isnt making fun of straights..leave her and all gay people alone-the inuendo is totally inappropriate..there are gay readers here and your kind of comments and the others that I have read about rosie just tell the gay readers what the tone of this forum is..and I dont believe its this tone except for a few..dont send gay people the message your post does-they dont deserve it for one and its ignorance for 2.
This is a gay friendly forum-and its an all friendly forum..enuf about rosies hair and the dyke stuff u are implying-there are manystraight women who have balls and say things..and have ego's..its not a gay hting and rosie isnt gay first-she is who she is and she is also a gay woman who has done tremendous good in the world.

I am straight and ballsy. Just ask the contractors who aren't speaking to me right now. I have short grey hair...no beauty aspects to my job.I also have a lot of friends who are gay and I relish every opportunity to be wth them.

To make celebrity types anymore importent is to disavow everyday that we get up and go to work.It could be another Enron at your door everyday. Just be the best you can be and help when you can.

Newtv I believe the poster was referring to the fact that ABC put a clause in the contract with Roise about her hairstyle and not taking a shot at gay people but the clause in the contract.

Rosie’s Contract: She Can’t Cut Her Hair

Rosie O’Donnell’s new mega contract with ABC has one absolute proviso: the former talk show queen cannot cut her hair.

You may recall there was an uproar toward the end of Rosie’s run as a syndicated talk show host because she chopped off her locks to emulate Culture Club songstress Helen Terry.

I agree. Barbara handled the situation very well.

Yes, she sure did. Star is such a fool! Talk about burning bridges...she should have shut her mouth and just dealt with what was going on around her. She is NOT going to get the best of Barbara Walters...and by yapping like she is, she's probably never going to get another job in the business again.

Sheesh. The post was a joke about who would win in a fight. Making reference to someone's haircut is an automatic "potshot" about sexuality? Only if your looking for it I guess.

I just heard Larry King say Star will be on his show tomorrow. I suppose she'll continue her tirade.

I am sorry to hear that Rosie is her replacement. I just do not like her. She just seems mean, nasty and bitter. I used to love her old talk show, but I guess that wasn't the "real" her.

That is the one gripe I have had about Rosie. She hushed her audience once after a poor reaction to one of her celeb guests like he was something "special" or more important than her audience. Turned me off.

But about the short hair....mine is short, too, and peppered with a little grey. U am neither gay or straight. I guess you call me anti-sexual. Does that count?

One of my favorite movies is one that starred Rosie and Richard Dreyfeus as undercover cops. Don't remember the name of it, but I thought they made an excellent comedy team.

I just saw his ad for the show and he says Star will be taking calls! I wonder if Barbara will call in? - probably not - too much class!

Star continues her rant...

Star Jones fired back on Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show in Los Angeles, PerezHilton.com reports.

"
Barbara didn't have my back
"

Star told KIIS FM: "I'm not trying to be emotional about this. I understand it was a business decision. I understood it was a business decision when I was told then. But then in that same week, I was told they were adding a new co-host and it was Rosie O'Donnell. And that was the same week that she had been so nasty and vicious towards me. Rosie insulted me. She tried to damage me professionally and personally...

"It's a little shocking to me that Barbara feels betrayed. I was really surprised that Barbara feels betrayed. If you watched me yesterday, I said that she was the most amazing mentor and I thanked her for the most amazing opportunity. My departure was orchestrated some time ago. And while I can accept any business decision, it's hard to accept the manner in which it was handled during the last two months. But, if you use words like betrayal, if anyone should be betrayed, it should be me! Barbara didn't have my back...

"It didn't sound right for me when they were saying your ratings have gone down. I said, well wait a minute, I've seen the ratings. The top five shows in the year you're talking about were about me and planning the wedding. It didn't sound right."

Developing...
