"The View is lining up guest hosts for the next few weeks. The View isn't trying out for replacements this summer, that will be done after Rosie O'Donnell makes her debut on the show Sept 5.."

For the future success of "The View" - this makes much more sense. I would imagine O'Donnell would certainly want input as to who the newest member would be and certainly the View producers & ABC execs want (need!) a good "fit" for their forum.

Re-runs for the View begin on Aug. 4th while the show is on a month long hiatus.

Star Jones Reynolds Helps Fans Protest

NEW YORK, July 6, 2006

(CBS)*Ousted co-host of ABC's "The View," Star Jones Reynolds is helping her fans speak out against her exit.

Reynolds posted details on how to contact the president of ABC Daytime, Barbara Walters and another executive producer of the show on her Web site
, starjones.com

According to Entertainment Tonight, Reynolds said she was responding to a request from fans who wanted to write to the network. She thanked fans for their support and said their numerous e-mails and letters have helped her cope with recent events.

As of Thursday evening, the Web site was down, only displaying the word "success."

The Internet has not always been kind to Reynolds. In January, she launched a blog to coincide with the release of her book "Shine: A Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual Journey to Finding Love."

The blog was flooded with negative comments and photos from detractors, despite — or perhaps because of — Reynold's warning that "anything that falls under the category of pure hateration will just be deleted from my blog."

Reynolds pulled the plug on the blog after only a few days online.

I remember Regis doing it this way when Kathie Lee left. I think it's a good way of doing it.

I can't remember if this is how the View did it with Elizabeth.

Thanks 13th for posting more of the article above. If I knew how to do it I would have. :D

I don't believe I'm familiar with the word "hateration". Is it like hate and adoration put together? LOL.

If I remember correctly, I think they did on air auditions for several weeks, till they found the best fit with Elizabeth. I also think this is how they did it with Lisa Ling.

I watched it tonite LP and was happy to see that she was only shown for maybe a total of 4 minutes (?) doing the narration. Same phoney smile at the end of each spot. Can't see her lasting at this - not enough limelight for the Starlet.

Star Jones ain't FOXy: FOX News says today that it has "no interest" in hiring the recently fired TV personality, and the fired "View" co-host hasn't had any conversations with CNN.

Over at "The View," insiders say that the post-Jones era has had a "liberating" effect on the survivors, namely Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and that they might not look to fill Star's spot permanently for some time.

After her high-profile firing two weeks ago from ABC, says "In Touch Weekly", Star has been approached by cablers CNN and FOX News for a hosting job.*

But both networks deny that that's the case. A FOX News spokeswoman, in fact, said the network had "no interest" in hiring her, according to the Associated Press, and CNN said there haven't been any conversations with Jones, though the possibility might exist in the future.

Meanwhile, her current TV gig hosting the HGTV series "House Hunters" in segments taped before her firing has been a boon for HGTV, boosting the ratings for show 36 percent over what it had been averaging this year, even though she actually appears on screen for only a fraction of the show.

HGTV has no immediate plans to use Star again, according to a spokeswoman, but they "wouldn't rule it out."

And elsewhere, the Star-free "View" has become a happier place, according to show insiders, especially for Elisabeth Hasselbeck, according to the New York Post. Hasselbeck "can finally get a word in edgewise, and you can see how she's opened up."

What's more, "Barbara and Joy are joking around a lot more. It's definitely a looser atmosphere now."

It'll certainly be a perk-off next Monday when recent American Idol contestant Kellie "Calamari" Pickler sits in as a guest-host. :woohoo:

I turned off House Hunters once I saw her. I suppose I am in the minority (at least according to HGTV) but I just can't stand the woman.

ABC said it cut Reynolds loose because its research showed her extreme weight loss and highly publicized wedding turned viewers off.

"She became a headstrong diva who lost her way and lost her audience by becoming this self-involved star," said Tom O'Neil, senior editor at In Touch Weekly. "If she taps what made her successful before, she can become successful again."

Heh, I almost feel bad for Star Jones because of this quote. ABC is bascially saying that most people don't relate to Star anymore because she lost alot of weight and therefore isn't in touch with her audience who liked her to begin with because she was fat.

A similar occurrence happened with Howard Stern. He lost alot of fans when he got divorced and started dating a super model. Before the divorce, many men related to Howard because they were married but were loyal to their wives and would not cheat with a younger, possibly more attractive woman. These same guys felt betrayed.

I wouldn't worry - I suspect that more viewers only tuned in out of curiosity and that the ratings will drop right off.:)

I disagree. Her whole personality changed after she lost the weight. She became full of herself (bragging, name dropping) and people just couldn't relate to her anymore.

I hope so. I like the other gal. I can't remember her name, but I hope Star was only a temp for the NY segment.
