State rests rebuttal case- thread #163

The laceration almost reached the spinal column. I believe the slash was straight across the throat inline with "blood atonement".

I've tried to figure it out on my own throat, but I have too many chins to do it. I don't understand how decomp can make the slash look higher up on his neck. To me, it appears to be almost on the jaw line. Maybe an inch, or less below it. I can see the cut going in just above his Adam's apple, since that would be consistent with pinching his neck down hard with his chin resting on his chest. I hope your right. I hope he was so far gone he didn't know what happened.

While knowing I'm going to be attacked for writing, this, I need to unload about Dr Horn. First, i think the evidence clearly shows 1st degree premeditated murder. Unequivocally. And what I'm going to write doesn't change that. But...

I feel the ME was the weakest link in the prosecution's case. His testimony felt off to me. His written report contradicted part of his testimony, but more importantly, he contradicted Flores. They made Flores out to be the "weak link" by saying he was mistaken about hearing Dr Horn say that TA was shot first. But I don't believe that. I think Horn, for whatever reason (and I don't attribute it to any sort of dishonest intent), was wishy-washy and contradictory in his testimony report. I believe Flores and find it strange that he's made out to be the scapegoat here.

I think Horn is overly defensive. I wonder if there is a possibility that the gunshot came first, but that Horn dug in his heels, refusing to acknowledge this due to pride or ego. Something is just off with his part in this trial.

So the jury can argue about which method of attack occurred first if they picked up on the discrepancies. Or not. It shouldn't change the outcome. IMO, whichever way one concludes, it's first degree murder.

One thing you must think about-DR Horn has done six thousand autopsies now how many has detective Flores done?
Dr horn only got defensive when Willmott kept asking him the same question over and over that he had already answered.
If I was Dr Horn I would have gotten defensive to and so would you.
I would tend to believe DR Horn over you me or anyone else that is not a pathologist as we have not made a living going over bodies that have been murdered. HE HAS
The reason Mr Horn says the shot was last is because of the lack of blood in the bullet tract to the cheek and lack of blood in the brain cavity.
If Travis's throat was not cut yet or his heart had quit pumping would be the only reason for the lack of blood.
But you are right about one thing, she is guilty of premeditated murder.

47 minute mark Jodi asked Daryl for gas cans, in MAY, for a trip she was to take to MESA!! Love it!!! Premeditation

He goes on to say that Jodi took photos of him he did not know she was taking, of him sleeping AND IN THE SHOWER. Also, he had dinner with Jonathan Leach, producer for 48 hours, he told someone that interviewed him for the defense team that Jodi wanted publicity from this case, as she wanted the money. Juan sure can take a defense witness and turn them into a prosecution witness in two seconds flat.

Even on redirect at 1:16 he again says she was going to "Arizona" among other places, then Nurmi tries to get him to back off of that, he repeats "Arizona" again.

Jodi Arias Trial day 10 (2 of 3) - YouTube

I posted about this early on when watching the YouTube trial with Darryl Brewer. He states that Jodi was headed for Mesa Arizona. Jodi told Darryl this on the phone on her way to visit him when Juan asked Darryl WHY she wanted the 2 gas cans. PREMEDITATION.

I too, also heard on 48 Hours that Jodi took pics of Darryl in the shower

Thanks for posting the video :)

Regarding wheeling Grandma in 'for effect'....the last jury I served, the DT did the same thing. Only in my case, Grandma was well into her 80's, very feeble and just so sad to see...but it had ZERO effect on any of us. If any of us were empathizing with her, it never, ever entered into deliberations. Far as I could tell, it didn't even color any of the other jurors interpretation of any of the evidence. Nice try, DT, but it's not an effective tool.....

I am glad to hear that.

When I see poor grandma wheeled in, it just makes me even angrier at the killer. She had loving grandparents that took her in, gave her a room in their humble home, and cared for her. And she repays them by staging a break-in and stealing from them? Pffft...:frown:

I'm not sure how much of Dr. G I'm going to be able to handle.... I'm going to want to watch but will probably end up yelling at the live feed and scaring my critters.... I also have doubts about being able to stomach any of the DT's closing. I will NOT miss JM's closing. Not even a minute of it.
I have to figure out how to get a phone alert for the verdict... I can't imagine not hearing it as it's announced.... I'll be scared to death to actually hear it. I don't want to spend days in tears again...bad, bad memories of that other trial. Are any of us ever really going to get over that travesty of justice?

I think many of us had the development of PTSD following the verdict of that
"other trial" in Orlando. I threw multiple things at the TV and had some colorful statements come out of my mouth. My neighbor came over cause she thought I was in an argument with my daughter. She was worried because of all the noise and crashing sounds. :floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

Just thinking to myself-

I know I don't offer much in the way of sophisticated analysis of the evidence and testimony in this case. That is OK. We do what we can.

However, I do frequently note to myself that, if I lost a person I loved in this horrific way, it'd be a comfort to me to know that strangers saw the injustice in it and cared enough about it to follow the case through to culmination, day in and day out.

This horrible thing, this life-changing loss has been noted and mourned by many, and I think we are all here to let the family know it can't happen without good people objecting with all of their hearts.

To this I would add again my undying admiration for Travis's family.

Their unwavering support of their brother[-in-law] as they remain in that courtroom, far from home and obligations, and through the DT's character assassination of their slaughtered loved one, bears silent testimony to the judge and jury that their obligations to discharge justice are not to be taken lightly.

It is their faithful presence which I hope helps to hold accountable the finders of fact, the renderers of verdict and ultimately the requisite penalty in this case.

wednesday - robert geffner for the defence
thursday - DT closing
friday - Juan bringing it home

no deliberations over the weekend as there is no security available

Aren't jury instructions in there someplace, too?

"To All the Supporters of Travis and our Family,

As the time is now near to verdict time our family needs your support more than ever now. You all have been true examples of Christ, very giving , caring, kindhearted, and loving. The support of all of you has been heartfelt and has brought many smiles to our families faces during these hard times. We will be forever grateful !

I know that the most important thing we can all continue doing is getting down on our knees and praying to the Lord that we will have Justice for Travis here on this earth. I know there will be Justice in the life to come in the eternities but I feel that the Lord will also have his hand in bringing Justice here on earth. Our Heavenly father hears our prayers and he will answer them.

The jury will get this case on Monday the 6th and that's why I have a special request from all of you to join us as we pray and fast for the Jury, For our Family, For Travis, and For the Ultimate Justice in this case. My family and I will be fasting and praying on Sunday May 5th. I know from my own personal experience that the Lord has answered my prayers after I fasted, and that's why I know if we all do it on Sunday the 5th , he will see that we all have faith in him and that Justice is what we want and I feel he will deliver as he touches the hearts of the Jurors.

We have all been brought together thru this horrible tragedy, we have all been touched by Travis and his inspiration as he was alive, by the things he did while he was alive, and by the people he helped and served while he was alive, and because of the Death of this amazing man , we all share the love, the loss, the hope, the sorrow, the life, the faith, the gratitude, the strength, the empathy, and the unity, together. May the Lord continued to bless all of you for all the strength and love you have shown our family.

Don't be sad for Travis for he is happy, in a wonderful place doing the Lords work, he continues to teach, learn, serve, laugh, make others laugh, sing, and rejoice in happiness. He is with our Savior Jesus Christ, he is with us in our hearts and minds , and he will be with us as we get the Verdict of Guilty of first degree Murder and have Justice for him! Our family loves you all!! Our Heavenly Father loves you, and Travis loves you!! Justice4Travis!!! "

What a thoughtful and caring observation. Thank you for posting.

Earlier today someone posted a message from one of TA's sisters speaking of their gratitude and explaining how they appreciate the support and how they will be getting through the next difficult days.

Maybe someone can bump it up...please.

Well it's obvious you need me to do an intervention on you so sit back and LISTEN to the advice of an old woman ok?

First off, don't give your right arm away or you won't be able to do this: :seeya:

Secondly, it's really only natural to fantasize about a man who is completely inaccessible to you. Travis Alexander has passed away and you don't get to see all of his trivial failings as a human being, which was what he was...a human being.

He was not a saint, or perfect or an angel he was a human being. He had his personality traits as well. We ALL DO.

Now, on to this statement you've made here which I have bolded: "I'm just angry that I'll never get to meet a wonderful man like Travis."

We need to work on your perception as to why you think you will never meet a wonderful man. There ARE wonderful men out there. (And when you find any I want you to call me immediately :floorlaugh:)

I'm JOKING. But there are wonderful men out there and you are only 33 holy smokes what I would do to go back to my 30's. Heh, heh...I'd be a rich woman.

I've been around the block more times than Girl Scouts selling cookies and I'm here to tell you to GET OFF the dating sites. Go get into life!! Join some kind of club that goes hiking or boating or fishing or something where men with shared interests will be.

Try selling fresh bread at the farmer's market, men LOVE fresh bread.

BBM Is it okay to use the frozen bread dough sold in stores? :blushing:

That makes me think that Geffner's true goal is to try and rehabilitate ALV's public reputation. JMO

:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

And I will send fresh baked Cinnabons!

I wonder if she'll be on the work crew to manufacture license plates?

I hope DMV doesn't mind her daily quota being completed upside down... :drumroll:

Similar to Jodi's dad being in court. While mom sits there writing away, taking her notes and laughing with her friends dad sat there with a look of complete disgust on his face. Bad idea to bring him in and more than likely the reason why he was only there for a very short period of time.

That, as well as her Dad being on dialysis, he probably did not feel well enough to stick around for very long. JMO

Aren't jury instructions in there someplace, too?

The Judge said that the jury instructions would be given on Thursday before the closing arguments are given by either side. I wondered why the instructions would be given before instead of after the closing arguments are given but chalked it up to something they perhaps do in AZ.

Unfortunately the jury has no idea about those "letters". The jury does however know that Jodi has lied under oath and lied directly to them when they asked her questions. I do not see a repeat of that Florida horror show happening this time around.

Was going to post this exact comment...so freaking unfair. :(

We all have our memories of exactly where we were, what we were doing, etc.
I will never forget getting a text message from my grown daughter, who lives over in MD and wasn't even following the trial that closely, but she knew I was and how strongly I felt about what CA did to that precious child. I saved that text for a good while. But I would tear up every time I read it. It just said, "I'm sorry, Mama"

That was all there was to say. :(

baked in?

When someone (for realz) stole my license plates, they
took the screws too. What did the skaters do, put the
screws back in place?...laughable!
