Is the public able to access that info? I am curious. Baez was not a public defender, on her case, as far as I know, right? She still owes him money too, I believe.
Do you catch yourself saying Right? Right? after asking questions now? I sure do.

You're probably right that that info isn't public but ...

Since CA filed for bankruptcy, I wonder if at least the outstanding amounts owed to the defense team would be made known publicly in the bankruptcy documentation???

Yep ... right, right! :giggle:

After seeing Dr. Horn on the stand twice, my money is on him and his version of the order of the attack. The carpet had a 'soaking stain' and contained clearly a lot of blood. With the stabs occurring prior, the blood velocity was already diminished somewhat.
I just wish it was Wednesday....my mind works on this stuff even in my sleep. And I'm exhausted. Plus, now I have days and days of actually having to get some chores done here :)
It figures, I have off till Thursday. I was hoping to have days of all trial.... Oh well...

BBM~ I think she was giving him one last chance to make her his, which didn't work. No Cancun = No Travis and Travis will pursue Mimi still.

She waited until everyone was out, and Travis was cleaning the floors, doing laundry etc... I believe she snuck back in.

Here ya go...

I think as long as you look busy you will be ok at work...

I am getting the server is too busy here at ws... :please:

I am sure this has been discussed before but does anyone have a venture on a reason why Jodi waited so late into the afternoon to commit the murder and risking being caught by the roommate?
:stormingmad:

BBM

From everything we've seen of her, she not only has the memories of her slaughter/butcher/torture murder of Travis, she savors and revels in them.

If you read the transcripts of the police interrogation tapes from Day 2 it is astonishing how many times she asks to see the photos even in the middle of other subjects. Not sure if she wanted them to aid in polishing her story or if she was (forgive me) dying to see her handiwork.

Rewatching her testimony as well. I cannot wait to see her face when that guilty verdict is read.

Before, but they can choose to go again after.
I want Juan to do that!

ITA but BBM~ The last computer activity was 4:54; 1/2 hour before the killing.

My theory is that she was waiting for the roommate to leave so she wouldn't be caught and also because she planned for the murder to take place in the shower so she had to get Travis in the shower. The roommate was there when Jodi arrived. And he apparently came back around 3:00 -- maybe around the time they finished having sex. Jodi took a shower (according to her) and the roommate was still there until around 4:00.

Coincidentally ,4:00 is when the last computer activity was on Travis' computer. My theory is that Jodi somehow got Travis to go downstairs and get on the computer with her around that time so she could monitor when the roommate was leaving. Shortly after she was sure the roommate was gone, she got Travis to go upstairs and shave and then shower. That was her first opportunity to get Travis in the shower when there were no roommates there.

Why oh why do I watch HLN. I must want my blood pressure to rise. Anyone watching now 3.00 p.m. EST? Well they have the judge from the Anna Nicole Smith case, can't remember his name, well he said or as much as said the Judge was too lenient on Juan. He was critical of the way Juan talked to Jodi, and the defense, Nurmi? should have objected more. If he objected anymore Juan should have just threw in the white flag and said do what you want. Didn't they see how Jodi was with Juan. What was he to do with this killer (can't say murderer because she as not been convicted) but she admits she killed him. Was he to handle her with kid gloves? Come on, we are talking about a confessed killer who over killed at that. He (the judge) said something about the judge should have been harder on Juan because, (get this, because Jodi is going to be convicted.( I would like to have his crystal ball, I could win the lottery). How many times have we heard it only takes ONE to hang. The judge on HLN said in essence the defense should get anything the ask for, and Juan should try the case with one hand behind his back, why, again because Jodi is going to be convicted. I hope someone saw this and can address this better then I. Anyway that is my interpretation of the Anna N_ Smith judge. moo

IMO JA wanted him dead and he just would not die quickly enough for her. The throat wound cut off his airway and blood circulation to the brain.

Caution: Graphic:
I have looked at the autopsy photos and report. Regarding the throat wound: IMO she slit his throat from right to left. There is a small "hesitation wound" right upper neck where he probably moved. One incised wound. Very sharp knife. Right side deeper than left. She severed major artery and vein (carotid/jugular) on right side, jugular on left. Arteries pump, veins ooze. When you take your pulse in the neck, that is your carotid artery. She transected his trachea, cutting off air supply. Because of the supporting neck muscles being cut, he would not have been able to support his head. Given the fact that he had been stabbed in the chest, with the knife penetrating the superior vena cava and his lung, he was losing blood internally and he only had one lung working. The severed carotid artery pumped blood outside the body at a rapid rate. He had no chance of recovery at this time. While his brain stem was still intact, he continued to try and breathe and his heart was still beating until there was not enough blood to pump.

I think she intended to make him hurt and make him suffer. Which he did. The gun shot was her insurance that there was no chance at life. At all. The bullet entered his skull and started to tumble, most likely tumbling through his frontal lobe, before descending into his left cheek area. The frontal lobe is responsible in part for decision making, processing, motor, verbal etc. If you take a look at the bullet, you can see the flattened portion of where it struck the frontal bone.

Not only did she premeditate this, she wanted him to suffer. For this reason, I think that is why she used the knife first. She wanted him to experience pain. Sadistic. I had initially thought that she shot him first, but after listening to all the testimony, that scenario would not have accomplished what she had in mind. It would have been too quick.

He did manage to try and protect himself as evidenced by the defensive wounds. When you go through muscle, it is exceedingly painful. The stab wounds to his chest would have him on the ground. First instinct is to splint yourself as a result of a chest injury I.e. tuck. Hence the back stab wounds. The human body instinctively reacts to protect itself, both anatomically and physiologically. Blood vessels react by spasming to try to impede blood loss etc. A whole A&P lesson would be involved, so I won't bore you. The body will do everything to protect breathing and maintain the airway. Notice when you hold your breath while swimming. You can't for very long.

JA cut everything vital to survival. She had planned this out no doubt. The horrific injuries she inflicted were purposeful. So I hope this jury reacts with purpose and sentences her to death. Respectfully, IMO

I did not think it was possible to despise her any more than I already did. I was mistaken.

I know many have not been happy with Judge Sherry. But years down the road when all of JA's appeals are exhausted, we will thank Judge Sherry for what she has allowed in.

If you read the transcripts of the police interrogation tapes from Day 2 it is astonishing how many times she asks to see the photos even in the middle of other subjects. Not sure if (a) she wanted them to aid in polishing her story or if (b) she was (forgive me) dying to see her handiwork.

BBM & Edited

(a) Yes

(b) Über-yes

Venting out loud to myself: Can we please stop comparing the CA case to JA? Different case, different jury.

Reminds me of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
Speaking of doggie doors. I find it amusing, the mental image, had Jodi gotten stuck in the doggie door and could not escape. Explain that one to the cops Ms. Arias.

That of been a hoot.moo

I'm pretty sure its State, Defense then State.

This was asked/answered several times in another thread and I think this is where it ended up.

Thank you! This is exactly why I believe the blood on the carpet was from the chest wound and not the throat wound. The forceful pulsating of the blood leaving the carotid/jugular would have produced serious blood splatter on both walls of the hallway, not just one and all over Jodi and Travis, hence I think she cut his throat in the shower.

The concentration of blood on the carpet leads me to think otherwise. The majority of blood loss from the superior vena cava would have been internally, not externally. He would have had to have been in that position on the carpet for a very long time to have that amount of blood there. Arterial wounds leave that kind of blood pooling.

My question brought over from the last thread...
If you smell smoke, it's just the gears turning in my head. I too am of the opinion that she likely used a hunting knife. Question is...where did she get it? Are DB or MM known hunters? When she was arrested and they found the knives in her rental car, didn't she say she had to return one to MM?
JMO

Someone theorized that she might have gotten the knife from one of the restaurants she's worked at.

Oh my ... you are a glutton for punishment!

Please check back in afterward so we know you've survived! We need you here!

I'm not watching ALL of it .. that would be too much for anyone. I'm watching her murder testimony and cross examination.

Yes, the first infliction was a stab to the heart, then stabs to the back up the hallway, then throat cut at end of hallway, gunshot is the finale in the shower.
