Does the family have to give the money back or do they not get it all at once? TIA. this is really bothering me
Hi Zuri, the money goes DIRECTLY to the family, and if as and when the family has any money left over they are planning to use it to go toward the foundation for Travis' legacy, to continue his good work in his name. Since it is such a large family, and they have been effectively out of work, with bills, car note, mortgages, etc back home, not to mention the travel of the siblings, the aunts, etc that fly there and or drive there, all of their lodging, etc, child care for their children at home, normal household expenses back home, I doubt if there is going to be money left over. The reason I say this is Katie who I trust with all of my heart has said repeatedly, the family is having a very hard time of it, and appreciate any thing anyone sends, even the ten dollar gas cards. I don't want anyone to think there is this huge cash flow of money and Chris is using it for any reason other than what the donor intended. He has said, and I am sure Tricia can clarify, the money is going DIRECTLY to the family. Katie has said here, repeatedly, the money is going DIRECTLY to the family.
God bless all of you who have sent this sweet family money to help them. If I had to leave my job for five months, stay in another city, maintain my home and care for my children, etc I would not have enough of a savings to last very long. Not very long at all!!
I judge people by their actions and this family, all of Travis' friends and that certainly includes Chris and Sky Hughes have shown me by their actions that they are humble people trying to do the best they can by their loved one. Even the children with the lemonade stand touched their hearts. God bless you friend, and may God bless this family during this very difficult time. :blushing::blushing: The reason I am so sure there is no abundance of money is because Katie and Katie DDJ are working tirelessly, with a team of people, to arrange lodging for the family during the verdict watch. She has mentioned she has reached out to many businesses in the community to get some help. This tells me there is no huge pot of money with amount to give back or be misappropriated. So many folks here mention the humble, grateful letters of thanks they have received from Travis' sisters. I think the need is present and ongoing and the money you sent went to the right place and is appreciated!!!
