State rests rebuttal case - thread #170

Is it Thursday or Friday in Australia? I'll see if I can't find something on my end. Just a sec.

It's Thursday night here :)

I've only been inside a courtroom to watch once. My friend was called to testify as a witness because she called an ambulance after seeing someone cause a car accident. It wasn't a pleasant experience for my friend at all, and she was only a minor witness.

My understanding is that our Katie Cool Lady felt a deep connection to this family, having went through what they are going through, due to her sister being murdered and having to sit through the painful trial, etc. She did not know the family before the trial and is NOT PAID to go and be with them. She works and has a full busy, other life and tries to go be with them whenever she can. She IS NOT PAID , and just acting on the goodness of her heart. She is a longtime member here, so she began posting her notes. More and more people got hooked on her wonderful, witty writing and it became something to tune in for , or look for Katie's posts. She deserves to be highly paid, and then some, but she and some of our other members are there, and post here, because they are such good, good people.

There is such a thing as Victim's Advocate that is may be a paid position, and may be a volunteer, it depends. T to the best of my knowledge, this is not the case with Katie or Pasa, or Katie DJJ, the one you often see on Dr. Drew. All the more reason you will see folks gushing with thanks to them, in awe of how they do it, and hold down their jobs, families, other life.
I hope this helps. I just realized I did not answer your basic question, yes they wait in line with everyone else to get in. Sometimes the guard or family can rather wink and get them in, I trust. Other times, they have reported, "I was not able to get in, so I am posting from the hallway". God bless these women!!

Many of Travis' friends have taken turns coming to the trial to stand in unity with his family who are there every minute, of every day of trial.

The court reporters that work for news stations, of course that is their job to observe and opine on air and in print. Other folks in there are authors writing books. Some are just mom and pop from the community who want to go watch the trial. Then there are the Jodi supporters who I do not even know how to comment on, and that is being overly generous of me. :seeya:

Good morning or good evening!

I stopped watching about 7pm last night and was sleeping by 8. I woke up at 11:30 and saw the trial was still going on on HLN. I was like WTH??

Just catching up a little on you tube and last thread.

Looking forward to closing arguments~Juan's! I am tired of hearing the defense's "excuses" for Arias and her (non) PTSD, (no) domestic violence, etc. It's all crap!

She is nothing but a just "woman scorned" who couldn't get who or what she wanted and killed Travis Alexander. She left California with murder in mind. Just another run of the mill murderer.

God Bless the jury to come up with a proper verdict. IMO she is guilty of 1st degree, pre-meditated murder and hope that is what the jury comes up with.

See you all later!

Good Morning all!

Me too Linda, I was asleep by 8! Missed everything. Let the bells ring for Travis finally.

Who was his witness?
I can't wait to see JS face when her client is found guity as all living hell. Omg, I went from "She's not likeable, she's just doing her job" to straight up "Cannot stand her!!".

JM last witness. The blonde lady. I cant remember her name. All the smiles and smirks, along with laughing from attorneys and other court unprofessionals and the circus act that makes up jodis family and friends will come to an end soon.

The new medical term for the day: dura meter! LOL!

If I remember correctly, dura mater translates to hard mother!

ETA: seems my CRS isn't so bad:Word Origin & History

From Dictionary.com:

dura mater
"tough outer membrane surrounding the brain," c.1400, from M.L. dura mater cerebri, lit. "hard mother of the brain," a loan-transl. of Ar. umm al-dimagh as-safiqa, lit. "thick mother of the brain." "In Arabic, the words 'father,' 'mother,' and 'son' are often used to denote relationships between things"

The dura is something I know a lot about from my own health experiences. Don't anyone get confused and think this tough means like a shell or anything. Some people can have a more fibrous 'tougher' membrane but it's still very easily penetrable. The dura is also along your spine too.

Oh and in everyday life people normally just call it the dura

Do we start at 9 am today or 9:30?
Gosh, I'm nervous! This is the first time, lol!

KCL (and the other court observers) are absolutely saintly, I have nothing but respect and thanks for them.

Good morning guys! (For a change, it's actually morning even my time. ;))

Trial Trivia: Today marks five months, to the very day, since Juan addressed this jury with opening arguments.

Hopefully we'll all be here this time next week too - sitting through a penalty phase. :praying:

A question (I'm not able to watch the case, so I read news stories 12 hours late to get updates).

After Horn testified that Travis was stabbed before he was shot, were the photos of the bullet casing sitting on top of his blood shown?

What time did court finish? I had to leave @5pm (Phoenix time)

Justice for Travis is almost here! We may have a verdict on Friday. Let's not be disappointed if there isn't one but it is a possibility..

Travis...you are loved by thousands of people who didn't even have the good fortune of meeting you. Rest in peace, sweet boy.

From your keyboard to God's ears! :please:

During the Prosecution's CIC, the shell casing was discussed & when Jodi was on the stand, it was discussed. I'm not sure of any other time--there may have been other mentions of it.

What time did court finish? I had to leave @5pm (Phoenix time)

hmm i think i'm an hour ahead and i believe it finished close to 8:30ish their time. although i had pushed the live feed back half an hour then accidentally clicked it and the trial was over so i missed the ending.

i see someone else put 6:40 arizona time, so i'd go with that, i always just think it's an hour behind me, i'm in a place without daylight savings time so my time never changes, and theirs doesn't and ack, its confusing lol.

It was around 8:30 AZ time. I'm in OK and it's 2 hours earlier there. :)
