He didn't use the drop cloth. What other purpose would it have been for? There was testimony from JA that Nancy spilled paint on her floor already (despite Nancy saying how careful she was). JA indicated that she and NC had to get the paint up. So in my opinion, it is reasonable to think that NC realized that being careful doesn't mean not spilling paint, and asked BC to pick one up because she was going to be painting again (either at 7:00 am Saturday or some other time). Other than that, this whole "tarp" or "drop cloth" thing means nothing. It was sitting there in the packaging on Saturday or whatever day they took those pictures. It wasn't used in the hiding and/or disposal of Nancy Cooper. So why have we spent so much talking about it (and continue to talk about it)?

BBM..You see that is where I have to disagree..I think it was used..and that packaging was just lying ontop of the scrunched up plastic drop sheet..Thats they way I saw it in the video of that bulging Home Depot bag that contained only those items..

The sheet as I saw in the Lowe's video was contained in a small, flat package that had blue writing on it..and I have purchased such an item..and once removed from that package you cant fold it to get back inside that packaging.. It's a shame Brad wasnt a clean freak..and didnt seem to know how to dispose of things..so there it was in the garage for it to get documented...

BTW..I think that drop sheet was put on the floor or whatever area he used to transport Nancy..to protect whatevers....why he didnt discard it...we'll never know??

IMO, the observation of squeezing through the doors was silly to mention.

You could see something on the shoes in the HT video? Could you even tell what color those shoes were? Or what brand? So what exactly did you see on them?

No couldnt see the brand..however did note they were black canvas deck shoe type with white rubber banding that came up to meet the canvas.

I agree with the drop cloth NOT being suspicious ON ITS OWN - as they were doing painting on Wallsburg Court in order to get the house ready for sale. It would make sense to buy some supplies.

HOWEVER....

I do find it suspicious that the running late on Friday was attributed to spending time with or helping Nancy and the kids and not the Lowes trip. And driving to Lowes, buying something, then on to work took TIME.

Being evasive about the trip, making himself look like doting husband and not saying what really took the time is an unnecessary diversion / untruth. If he did it FOR HER - i.e. "I picked up a drop cloth so Nancy could continue painting our house to ready it for sale" - I would buy that. however, I believe at that time he was telling police they were in the process of reconciling?

Evasive. And usually when folks lie or evade telling the truth about SIMPLE things, there's bigger things hiding behind them.

And the other thing - if you always tell the truth - it's easy to remember. Much conflicting data - as one lie almost always leads to another and that is what trips people up - they simply can't remember the complexity of the ruse they have created.

Yes! He told police they hadn't discussed divorce in 2+ months and were working things out.

I think it only indicates that Brad was in a hurry..BUT why would he be in a hurry is my question:waitasec:

BBM To the above. It sounds as though you may have personal experience at the time in question with those very doors. Are they documented to be slow in opening? The timing of his trips indicate (to me) that he was in a hurry. That is my personal opinion. I am sure the jurors will make their own.

I'm talking about automatic doors in general. Have you ever walked up on some where it didn't set off the sensor right away, so you had to stop for it to open? I have many many times.

I know, but once inside, his pace sure slowed down.
Kinda contradictory.

Im sorry..but IF I was doing painting or any other work on someone else's house..I would not necessarily be purchasing things to do the job..I would give a list of things needed and that person would have to purchase them..as it is already known..Nancy did not have money to waste..she already was unable to pay her own bills at this point??..Brad held the purse-strings and I doubt he would spend money for expenses for someone else's work to be done!! JMOO

JA agreed to reimburse for supplies. That has already been established through testimony in this trial. BC also purchased other painting supplies for NC. That is not speculation.

Simple shoes retail for $55.....not something you toss in the trash (unless they are evidence from a murder)

But this is his actions Friday morning. And again, he wasn't hiding this purchase. He disposed of neither the receipt nor the drop cloth.

Brad sure was helpful with JA's and/or Nancy's painting! Making himself late to work to stop in at Lowe's. But he couldn't be arsed to get the money his wife needed...to the point where she was livid by Fri @ 6pm. Did Brad get Nancy's money Sat morning? Nope. Did Brad get Nancy's money in the afternoon? Nope.

So you think he used this dropcloth to dispose of her body, then took the time to bring it home, fold it up, then put it in the garage and place the wrapper bag on top of it?

I think he slowed only to collect himself..but he sure did do some wierd wanderings..course as not being the usual shopper..he may have not known where things were??

I'm not sure why wearing 2 different shoes 17 minutes apart is a big deal. It's not like he disposed of the body during those 17 minutes. So if he had something on his shoes, it would have been there for the first trip already. I'm also not convinced those shoes disappeared.

Its pretty clear the board is pro-he-did-it, so its nice to have your counter-perspective. But every time there is damaging evidence you seem to discard it, sometimes with decent reasons, and like I said I appreciate the counter-arguments.

But this is huge. Its a big deal because those shoes have gone missing on the same day his wife went missing. Is it just a coincidence he lost a pair of shoes that day? And during those 17 minutes he might have been disposing of the shoes (and other articles of clothing). But it doesn't matter, we don't need to see a video tape of Brad dumping shoes down a sewer drain to know he disposed of them. The prosecution would not be going down this path if the shoes had been found. Missing shoes = disposed shoes, or they would have been cataloged as evidence from the get go. Either the shoes were disposed of, or Brad hid them. Either way, it is one more piece of the puzzle, and it looks very damning.

My only caveat is I was surprised how this evidence was almost downplayed by the way the questions were asked and the answers given. I would have expected stronger answers from the detective about the shoes.

Weird wanderings? Please explain.

I've got to think we will hear a lot more about those shoes (and other key evidence) when the next detective testifies.
