I am a NC taxpayer and I am overjoyed and relieved that he is being prosecuted. I am, however, outraged that Jason Young's lack of cooperation with law enforcement resulted in such a vast use of resources. Jason Young is the one who is directly responsible for this waste of resources.

Ditto on being an NC taxpayer, and agreed completely on who is single-handedly responsible for a vast expense to all of us.

Jason Young had a constitutional right to silence just as you do. Your outrage is misplaced.

Also, don't forget the ME testified the first blow to the face was possibly made by a hand or a fist.

ITA, but the prosecutor has to take blame as well, they have the evidence but did not present to the first jury in a way they could make an informed decision. Alot of the evidence was not introduced in the first trial, they seem to be doing better in that regard, what is missing is some passion for a young mother whose life was brutally taken by her philandering husband.

Michelle was attacked with a blunt object.

My comments pertained to real evidence in this case, not other cases or meaningless statistics.

JMO

You surmised that "it sounds like the perp was a woman". For you to make this determination, you are drawing on some knowledge OUTSIDE this case because you have formulated an opinion on how women kill.

I contend that women do not kill via force, or blunt object (also not noted as the weapon of choice) I provided data to support my assertion that this was not female on female murder.

You may not like the statistics because they do not support your belief, but it does not make them any less relevant.

Please tell me what led you to your conclusion that it was a woman who killed her.

Thank you.

Agent Holley back on stand.

Talking about checking the water sprinkler at Hampton Inn,

And just as *possibly* made with a baseball bat. IMO

I've formed an opinion based on evidence in this case. I'm not interested in statistics.

Good point, I hope that the pros can or will point out that he never tried to call his wife at work just to say hey I'm on the road or something. He never even tried... How would JY know MY was not there at work... if he were innocent of the crime. Did pros team make any points like that in the first trial?

MY had had an appt w/her OB/GYN that morning -- Seems to me, a good dad who is interested in the health of his unborn son's mother and the health of his son, would give her a call since he hadn't yet heard from her. He was calling everybody else he knew that morning.... gee, that's odd...

Maybe he already knew about how both of them were doing.

They weren't doing.

Paternity test for Rylan? Confused.

I don't think anyone would think Michelle would pull her own hair out by the roots. Sounds like it started with hair pulling which indicates, to me, a girl fight and maybe a male stepped in to kill her off so as not to be identified. MOO

<modsnip>< Where exactly is the evidence that there was a girl fight in that house? Michelle was asleep when she was attacked, there was an attempted strangulation and she pried the killers hands from her neck, resulting in scratches made by her on her own neck. She was then beaten to death with a very heavy, blunt object, over 30 hits to her face and head. Either her hair came out when she was prying the killers hands off her neck or the killer pulled it out when he was relentlesly beating her, possibly he was yanking her around by her hair as he was beating her.

Also, don't forget the ME testified the first blow to the face was possibly made by a hand or a fist.
The ME testified he did not know the order the blows were delivered, and when asked if any of the injuries could have been made by a hand he said the strangulation attempt and possibly the mouth injury.

Why did jason go to his mothers after leaving Virginia?

He didn't wanna go home -- the Brevard trip took enuff time so that all heyell would break at 5108 in Raleigh, so he would go elsewhere.

ETA: He was planning to pick up some furniture there to take back to Raleigh at some future date, so this was his excuse to go there.

Here is one thing we know for certain. The murderer of Michelle Young chose to leave Cassidy Young as a possible witness. He spent some amount of time with her during the commission of the crime. He drugged her with adult strength medicine, medicine that Jason Young as a pharma salesman would know (established by Young's former employer, he was professionally required to know this medicine).

In short, Jason Young spared Cassidy Young's life that awful morning. It is not much of a stretch to presume he wanted her to be found and tended to as quickly as possible after he'd returned to Virginia. As terrible as it is to say this, that Cassidy Young is an 8-year-old girl today and not buried next to her mother is just one more brick in the wall that makes up the case against Jason Young.

Why would Jason Young, if he is the murderer choose to leave a witness behind? His own daughter who allegedly told everyone it was daddy? Sorry makes no sense to me. Unless he was disguised but then again, she would recognize his voice.

I understand. Hair-pulling is very painful. Sounds as though Michelle fought back and her attacker lost grip on her hair.

JMO

Michelle was hit in bed, probably asleep on her back. She was so brutally hit, her lip was split and her teeth extracted. I'm quite sure when she awoke she fought back.

This wasn't a fight between two women...ie:brawl....this was a brutal, horrendous attack. Go back and review the medical examiner's report. Please notice her crushed jaw, her MANY fractures of her skull....so many in fact, they ran together. Her scalp literally gaped open.

Yes, she fought back, but to no avail as she was no match for someone Slayer's size, not to mention a weapon such as a bat or pipe....again review medical examiner report...ie: oval shaped marks from blows on her body. Please notice her hands....so bruised from defensive wounds he couldn't count the number of bruises as they all ran together.

Slayer also attempted a strangulation but poor Michelle was still alive so he finished her off in a raged filled overkill.

Imagine looking in the eyes of your husband, the father of your children and knowing he is attacking you. Imagine looking in those wild eyes filled with hatred as you take your last breath.......welcome to the last minutes of Michelle Fisher Young.

Where is the evidence Michelle was asleep when attacked?

Your speculation about how her hair came to be in her hand is just that as is other posters' speculation a woman may have been her assailant.

So what evidence that has been presented did you use to base your opinion on the killer being a woman? Do you have any opinion on what woman you would suspect????

I don't believe her husband attacked her and will continue to hold the opinion that at least one of her assailants was a woman.

There is no conclusive evidence that Michelle was asleep when attacked. There has been testimony the treadmill was turned on.

Bureau of Justice Statistics:

Homicide offenders and victims, by sex, 1980–2008
Victim/offender relationship Percent
Total 100%
Male offender/male victim 67.8%
Male offender/female victim 21.0
Female offender/male victim 9.0
Female offender/female victim 2.2
Note: Percentages are based on the 63.1% of homicides from 1980 through 2008 for which the victim/offender relationships were known.

Women offenders kill by Gun, Arson or Poison in over 70% of the cases. No other methods were noted - i.e. no other methods occur in significant percentages.

So - of 100 female murder victims, 2.2 were killed by women, and it is likely that a majority of them were killed by the three methods above. (No statistics were ready available for same sex murders and method.)

Women do not kill by force (defined as hands, feet or fists)

I wonder what percentage of eye witness identification is correct.

Has anyone watched In Session today? I could have sworn that I saw Beth Karas out in front of the courthouse this afternoon! I rolled my window down at the red light and tried to hear what she was saying into the camera, but couldn't. When I went back, she was gone. I thought I saw her sitting in the courtroom in a grey colored sweater. Was that her? The only thing I could locate online was Amanda Lamb. I don't think it was her I saw, although they are both blonde.
