This Mock Juror is still on the fence, but sliding over to guilt. The knock-off shoe cross didn't do it for me as a reasonable explanation, because what are the chances of a random killer wearing a knock-off brand size as JY wears out of 195!? TBH, I thought the cross was the best way to muffle the damage, but it rang, to me, as desperate.

I mean, I guess I could say, well, maybe someone was framing him, but that's too bushy haired stranger and silly.

IDK, but if I were on the jury, it wouldn't take a heck of a lot to swing me to Guilty. Still waiting to hear the defense's case-in-chief.

Did you happen to hear the testimony about the gas purchases both credit card and cash within 12 hours Nov 2 thru Nov 3rd 1PM..He drove alot that night..twice the miles ( 169 each way)..Over 50 gals purchased..Wonder why? he needed so much gas??

Then there's the coinkidink of Hampton Camera being off line between midnight and 654AM?? plenty of time to leave, murder and get back??

Then the phone calls to mommy goes from 1-6 a day and sudden 28 calls on Nov 3rd...

Far too many quinkidinks for me!!

I'm going to be the voice of dissent on the phone calls thing. To me, I don't care how many times he called his Mom. I call my Mom often, and my Dad often, and if I'm driving on the road, or to their house, that's going increase exponentially I think. I'm also the type to get frustrated if I start to drop calls (which I still think is *possible*) and I'll call repeatedly like 8 times before it goes through.

I'd like to see a comparison of phone calls while he's on a normal road trip, to this road trip I think, before I place simply making phone calls into the guilt category.

The PT needs to hammer home to the jury just how rare those shoes were, and reiterate that Jason OWNED a pair. No disputing the fact that he purchased them, as we have seen the records of that. All we have are his flimsy excuses about the shoes being donated.

  • #265
Thinking about this more, the shoe thing is really stuck in my brain. What are the chances of a bushy haired stranger wearing a knock-off of JY's very rare size 12 shoe?

IMO, he's toast. The shoes are kind of the smoking gun, for me.

Of course I want to hear what the defense have to say when it's their turn, but the shoe testimony buried JY.

All just IMO, of course. I wonder what the real jury is thinking.

I just thought of something to add..Jason's phone was off btween midnight and 730 AM..What husband would do that with a pregnant wife at home with 2 year old..and MY likely didnt even know which hotel he was in since he didnt have a reservation for Hampton either..

Its not so much the number but the usualness of it all..how come 1-6 usual contacts then 28 on the day of MY being found murdered??? and not even going home to check for himself..

I agree,Wolfpack. I know a lot of folks who like to talk on their phone while driving. I am one of those. Dropped calls irritate me too so I would recall to try to connect. So, the phone calls are not an indicator of guilt for me. But, I don't think it is necessary to have them to point to suspicion.

The HP epert was very good. I somehow missed his testimony last time. Did he add any more definitive info this time? It seems that the Prosecution very clearly got their point across. The defense has a lot to do to explain away this evidence.

Jeff Ashton on TT discussing case.

Damn, I forgot, and took the dogs for their walk as soon as judge began discussing lunch. Did I miss anything?

Agreed. There are only 2 things I have listed right now in my "Guilty" category, and this hush puppy testimony is one of them.

Jason talking about he learned he was going to be a Father for the second time.

Typical Michelle fashion, CY walked in the den wearing
" I'm going to be a big sister" shirt.

And then Michelle's friend at work saying 'it didn't have the *effect* she thought it would. :(

Great, now I have the song that was a theme for TMNT in my head but with the words, Teenage, Mutant, Ninja, Gothkillers.

Just the judge saying they were on schedule and would continue with 1.5 for lunch. He says he felt the jury needed that longer break. But if they start running behind they may need to go to shorter lunch. That was all you missed.

I have a few more than two..The biggest ones are the hushpuppies, the 2 year old witnessing what happen to her mommy, the dog locked away from upstairs as there was no paw prints in the blood, whomever did this knew the house well..removed all garbage including diaper removal of Cassey, Nothing but personal items stolen (wedding rings) and we all know he loves wedding rings!! the amt of gas purchased (over 50 gal that night/morning) the missing clothes he was seen wearing when left Hampton..

Man oh man..IF I put some stranger on the other side of the sheet Just how can you compare applications of these facts to someone targeting Michelle??

I keep recalling something that I have heard many times during trials..and that is "The absence if evidence (DNA/Prints/blood trail downstairs) is in of itself Evidence"..Random killer would not bother caring for child, penning up dog, clearing out garbage, and leaving Car and electronics behind..All good items for a burglar to steal!!

Just thinking outloud and connecting dots :rocker:

The total gas mileage is:

Raleigh to Hillsville 170 miles
Hillsville to Raleigh 170 miles
Raleigh to Hillsville 170 miles
Hillsville to Clintwood 145 miles
Clintwood to Brevard 183 miles
___________________________________

Jason would have to drive 838 miles

Then, Brevard to Raleigh 278 miles ( his bro in law drove Jason's SUV)

You also included the gas that the family stopped for in Burlington, NC on the way back to Raleigh
in the SAME SUV Jason left in........the one that had no evidence connecting him to the crime scene.

1116 miles total

Does it really matter at this point..why would Gracie input a gas purchase at the 527 AM showing 20.00 and 15 purchase if it didnt happen:waitasec:..How could she have known to do that at the hour during that night and that LE would be coming to ask her about this person a day or so later:waitasec:...Pleeze..It is what it is..and someone made that purchase at that time stamp.. The company went out of business shortly after this whole incident..so dont believe accounting of balancing is even possible..:maddening:

You know what, this is a really good point I hadn't considered. If Gracie wanted to fabricate, she'd have had to go back and look at what purchases were on the list of register transactions to see what fit, and just cross her fingers that it fit into the timeline as brilliantly as it did. She'd either have to have used ESP to know the customer's volatile temperament, or she fabricated that too on the off chance she might get it right. Does anyone believe her capable of all that Machiavellian foresight, perception, and maneuvering, able to create such a story based on a few little numbers on a register receipt?

At the very least, the incident happened. I'm finding it easier to believe that Gracie has difficulty verbalizing proportion and measurement, than I am believing that a 5 foot tall man cursed her out at 5:30 in the morning.

Not easily explained at all"

Cammy, below I am bringing over some questions I posed in a comment to your explanation of shoes. Could you give me your opinion on how they could be answered.

Where where are the shoes JY was wearing in CB and HI videos. He bought a pair before the NTO almost the exact shoe as seen in the videos. Those round toed brown toed shoes were not found with his belongings. Why buy a new pair of shoes after the murder that look exactly like the ones in HI and CB video and it just happens those shoes have never been located.
