Raleigh, N.C. — Testimony began Wednesday in the murder trial of a Raleigh man accused of killing his wife nearly five years ago with his sister-in-law detailing the couple's troubled marriage as well as how she discovered the body.

Responded to the 911 call at Birchleaf.

Got a brief synopsis , deceased person. Young female, lots of blood.

Fire truck already there.

Water hose WAS running.

Tried to enter the house in the back, locked. Used his tie to turn handle.

Entered the house through the garage. Used his tie again.

Purse on the floor. House looked to be in decent condition, not ransacked.

Searched house to make sure it was secure.

Blood smear on bathroom wall.

No on in house except deceased Michelle.

Called the house in safe, then called EMS in.
They checked vital signs, informed him there was nothing they could do.
They all exited the house.
His job was to wrap the area with tape and start a crime scene log.

Taped off area with a tire impression, 10 to 12 ft up the driveway.

Michelle was face down, left leg was bent back, still on bed /tangled in sheets.

Took safety precautions, made mental notes.

C's bathroom. Bloody barefoot impressions, hand level smears/child.

Didn't see/make note of any blood on stairs/bannister.
