Hey team!
I worked all day and just read your discussion on today. Tell me overall what was top notch for the day??

Since the print was near his closet, then finding his DNA on swab from the sheetrock near his closet is not unusual. I don't think this evidence is of much impact here.

It does point out, however, that no one else's print was there....

Just like the Cooper trial...big build up about possible bombshell forensic evidence and it ends up peetering out.

Well, we knew from the SWs there was no bombshell PE, and I don't recall any build up about it....but I think just like in the BC trial, the computer searches will be pretty damning CE. I wonder if ALL of the computer searches will be mentioned.

I missed most of the testimony today, but read on WRAL that a witness testified that a clump of hair in MY's hand was not JY's. Really? Whose hair was it? I find that really bizarre. Does anyone know anything more about this?

Hi, Prancy -- It's great to have you on this case!

Yes, very aware from SWs the FE was very weak.
I was talking about introducing all the evidence and the jury thinking they will see something that actually ties JLY to the crime. At the end of the day, they get nothing compelling.

I will be suprised if the computer evidence offers anything near as damning as in the Cooper case.

I missed most of the testimony yesterday. Is there anything in particular I should go back and catch?

I'm going to rewatch MM. I missed the cross of her too.

I sure hope so...so far I have not been impressed with the prosecution. They seem to be passing over key information that, if the jury is asleep, they wouldn't notice how important it is.

I remember from the search warrants, which had extensive probable cause sections, there are a lot of rather incriminating emails. Primarily between JY and his older sister. There were also some odd searches conducted on his computer to do with head trauma, anatomy of a knockout, and some such stuff. Such a coincidence such searches would be found on his computer.

I remember the SW's, too, RC. Apparently his sister is cut from the same cloth as JY (as is probably our favorite so far, MM). The docs make very interesting reading -- SW's, to show probable cause, list a lot of info -- as do arrest warrants. I recommend reading them to those WS'ers who have not.

I am amazed the state said they may rest by Friday.

Yeah, JTF, we're having to wade through these teasing details -- but we understand why, eh?

Like any other heavy-duty trial, the ADA's have to present all of it, thus producing the what's-the-point-of-all-this-worthless-evidence comments from some folks (familiar??); but, as some of us agreed in the BC and other similar circumstantial cases, it has to be done or the you-never-looked-for-anyone-else-but-so&so comments. Yes, further adventures ahead.

The timing and context of those internet searches will be interesting. I imagine Fiona will testify about the life insurance and will. Linda Fisher will offer a lot when she is called. The FBI matched his HP shoe. Spivey will tie it all together in the end and also bring out the missing clothes and shoes....the most compelling evidence, IMO.

JTF, are you saying Spivey will produce the missing clothes, or bring out theinfo that they are still missing? Wasn't sure how to take this!

Wow, state rests by Friday... I sure hope they have a witness that is going to tie all of this together for the Jury, because as of right now it seems like a bunch of random separate incidences. I don't like the calmness of this. We are putting it all together, but we need the jury to see how influential these pieces of evidence are when compiled....

Those clothes are still missing, along with JLY shoes.

Hmmm....maybe BC's clothes and shoes ran off with JLY's clothes & shoes and are sharing a common landfill destiny somewhere.

I meant he will show the jury the hotel video and what he was wearing. He will then explain the pullover with the. Chest stripe was never recovered from his luggage.

If you notice, lots of circumstantial cases appear to be random bits of data and incidences. They often have a L.E. type, be it a detective or someone in the case who testifies last or near last, to sort of tie it together.

Then, in closing arguments, that's when the state's attorneys tie it all together, explaining the important physical evidence (if it exists), the behavioral data, technical/computer stuff and they often talk about the coincidences of a mountain of circumstantial things pointing to the defendant.

I would advise doing that on an empty stomach...or get some Pepto or Alka Selzter before you watch.

This case seems sedate because the defense team has objected a mere fraction of the number of times defense attorneys have in other high profile cases. We don't hear incessant whining and the greek chorus of "not fairrr" that we've been subjected to before. We've not witnessed the defense team stomping their feet, threatening to or going to the circuit court, wasting court time asking for the same things over and over that were ruled on previously, and they've generally been respectful of the judge (or at least appeared to be).

There are no long sidebars and the jury is not sent back often to marinate while the attorneys battle it out in front of the cameras. That occurs outside of court hours and the camera is not capturing any of those sessions with the judge.

I bet the rulings are fairly consistent across cases; the difference is the pace and mostly people's perceptions.

That is true. I have never honestly followed a case like this before, this was just so intriguing that I started and couldn't stop. I wasnt sure how much they could "tie it together" without it seeming leading, or suggestive. Tell me more about that?

Hmmm could be a great AL trash novel. <choke>
