As a resident of NC I feel I was not adequately represented in this trial...

I'm sorry, but the state missed their chance to grill this 🤬🤬🤬.

55 min x-exam

1 min rebuttal rebuttal

Most prosecutors would die for the opportunity to question a defendant such as JLY. I can't believe what a let down this was. IMO, Boz would have creamed JLY. MOO MOO

all i got from that pros is "um" "um" and some more "um"s.

I am not disappointed with Ms. Holt's cross of this guy. I think she did a very good job in a very quick time without appearing to be a bully. She got his dander up, the jury saw how easy that was, they also saw his rapid change in demeanor and animation when denying things. She hit home that he never bothered to help with the investigation and that he actually did everything he could to avoid doing so. She also proved how much he loved Michelle, while messing around with anyone who would have him, while supposedly working on his marriage. Short sweet and to the point, I liked it.

So was the rest of the state's case strong enough for guilt beyond a reasonable doubt?

  • #466
We still have rebuttal. Show the jury he lied to their faces.

Yes, that's how I see it, shuze, since she didn't press on, like she could have. She was making a list - I hope we will hear about it during closing -- and he won't be able to come back with a ready answer to that. I hope it's enuff, but all it takes is one...

Isn't that something ... Jason testifying. I sure didn't see that coming! He seemed really nervous, which isn't surprising given the situation.

Me too on the adequate part. I really cannot believe he wasn't asked about the clothes and really questioned hard about the shoes.

Was that really a juvenile medicine? If it was,why the warning not to operate heavy machinery or drive? Was I mishearing something?

  • #471
Why the silence now? What's going on?

  • #472
That's it? That's *all* she's gonna ask him about? Seriously?

I guess they didn't expect it either ... and so much emphasis on him following the advice of his lawyer! He can't be faulted for that.

Rebuttal case begins now.

he has never denied being a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 monger and he has never denied being told not to speak to anyone. she didn't ask him anything about the trip, the hotel, the murder, nothing.

Looks like HC is talking to LF... He's been close to her in this courtroom many days.

Thanks RC for making me feel better about it. But most of the time a defendant doesn't testify and this was a golden ticket. I would have thought they would have taken more time.

You may be right and maybe I just need to be more objective. However, at this moment I do not think BH did a good job with the cross. There was so much more she could have addressed...I think that's my biggest hangup.

She never asked him about his shoes, his clothes, the camera being unplugged then later moved. She missed 100 different opportunities and maybe 200 more questions, at a minimum.

I'm sorry, but she sucked.

They may get their conviction, but it is in no part due to this x-exam.

She simply did not give him a chance to repeat his lies. I don't blame her, I wouldn't give him that chance either.
