Hackers can try it too, but the truth is the truth - encryption is popular because it takes forever to undo. This is true for the layperson OR FBI. That is the bottom line - you can't force it to happen any faster. It has nothing to do with political will or hope - it has everything to do with encryption keys. It may happen one day, but it takes a lot of time, patience and money. Accessing the pentagon through a network is a different story than cracking an encryption key for a hard drive.
As a person in the IT field, I am insulted at the accusations that if only they wanted to help, or cared for the kids, they would have cracked it. Technology doesn't work that way - you cannot will it to give up information like you can a person. Josh knew damn well what he was doing was wrong, and he took extreme steps to cover it up. Nobody can predict or read the mind of a psychopath.
Susan was my friend, and it hurts to know that she's gone. I've been avoiding these forums since yesterday because of the hurtful things being said. The police only have so much power - everybody has rights, even if you suspect them of a crime. They knew, especially after Casey Anthony, they would only ever get one shot to get Josh, and they wanted to nail him to the wall. Look at Steven in the

case - trying to throw out warrants. Everything had to be done by the book and VERY carefully, or no charge would stick and he couldn't be taken to trial again. Imagine THAT outrage! Screw up the case and try him, and he's let off on a technicality?
Susan is with her sons again, and that monster can't hurt them. I find solace in that.
