Steven Powell was involved in disappearance

Years ago some rental car companies started puting GPS on their vehicles to ensure that 1) if they were stolen they could be found, 2) if the renter advised he was only going to use the vehicle within the State lines and they go outside of state boundaries. I wonder if the rental agency that Josh rented the car of 800+ miles knew where he went.

I asked this same question awhile back. Every rental car I have rented in the last few years has always had this installed. Can hardly wait to hear the details if the police thought to request this info.

There was less evidence against Scott Peterson and they had no trouble getting a conviction against him. Death penalty, no less. I believe there was enough circumstantial evidence--which is perfectly good evidence when there is enough to tell the story--to have gotten an arrest and conviction against JP.
I beg to differ. I think there was more evidence against Scott Peterson. He was having numerous affairs and Scott told Amber Frey that he had "lost" his wife before Laci went missing. And LE arrested Scott. JP was never named a suspect! Then there was that pic of Scott and Amber at the Christmas party that took place while Laci was home.

I think WVPD screwed this case up. Why didn't they track JP's movements after he rented the car?

I totally agree with you, gwenabob. It would have at least kept him in jail and away from the boys.

I still think the 'volcano' on the [sp]..org sight has a hidden meaning. I hope that WA LE tear up the entire powell yard.

I was waiting for this news release...not necessarily MP, but one of them. I already suspected, almost knew 100% the whole family have been investigated. Now it's in writing.

West Valley police contacted Minneapolis police about Susan Powell
Crime » Could Powell brother know what happened to missing sister-in-law?

IMO Police Chief Buzz Nielson is throwing out this "revelation" to cover his butt. Making it look like they were actually working on Susan's disappearance. We still don't have any details about the contact between WVPD and Minne. LE. Time will tell.

Josh was having an "affair" of sorts--with his father. And don't forget Charlie told people more than once that his mother was dead.

Having an affair does not make one a murderer. If that were the only incriminating evidence against Scott, it would not have been enough for an arrest. It was all the rest of it. The lying about where he had been the day Laci went missing (check), the driving long distances without credible explanation (check), the refusal to fully cooperate with LE (check), long-term selfishness towards his wife (check), the immediate exit and attempted sale of the marital house (and Scott even tried to sell his wife's car!) (check), the lame explanation as to where the missing wife might be (check), the constant inexplicable cleaning after the disappearance by men who for the most part expected their wives to do the housework (check), the running away to be with enabling parents (check), the wife who was in the dark for the most part about the true nature of the beast who killed her (check), spoiled, self-indulgent sociopath (check). Josh and Scott are like twins separated at birth! I could go on and on.

Great points Gwenabob! It has been so long since I read about the Laci P. case, I forgot about the similarities. I can see what you are saying about Josh and Scott being like twins. And I think you are right when you stated that JP was having an "affair of sorts" with his father. My husband's brother told me that his mother broke up his marriage. I wondered how that was possible unless my BIL allowed my MIL to interfere so much that BIL took her side. (Affair with his own mother, not sexual, but mentally) Anyway, I don't think I am making much sense at this late hour, but I can totally see what you mean by affair.

If Michael was involved that makes so much sense to me . . . hence the 90%+ of the money left in Josh's will. Josh knew that his Dad couldn't get any money while in jail but probably felt comfortable that Michael would give his Dad the money once SP is out of jail.

Josh's whole family may have been involved in Susan's disappearance/cover up but all of that could be proven by cell pings/calls, gps on the rental, debit card purchases (ie: gas receipts/food), etc.

This makes me so angry!! 2 lives could have been saved, I think. Someone messed this up from the get go. Boy Josh really thought he was something, telling LE that he didn't answer his cell phone cause the battery was low and he didn't have a charger and the LE sees it plugged into the cig lighter. What nerve. Poor Susan. Lead them to you baby so you can be placed next to your precious sons.

The crazy cousins are at it, again. Excuse me while I clean the puke from my computer.

Powell cousin: Search warrants show there wasn’t evidence to arrest Josh Powell

Court » Nathan Leach is first family member to voice support of Josh Powell following release of search warrants.

The crazy cousin should remember it was Josh and his father that put that stupid site about Susan up there for the world to read, not anyone else. And now they wonder why people are so angry? For the love of Jude....I swear, these people are farking clueless. Trial by social media? Yep, who tried, convicted, and executed Susan's reputation by using a website? One clue, it wasn't the Cox family....

JMO, IMO, and :moo:, plus all other disclaimers.

They must have some suspicions about Alena; otherwise they wouldn't have seized her phone. I am actually a bit surprised that they were investigating Michael. I wonder if they have any new evidence with the most recent seizures.

Of course we do not know, but did they ever supoena the cell phone pings on Steven Powell's phone?

They seized Alina's phone because she refused to allow LE to look at it when Josh decided to kill those boys and himself. I think she knows a lot more about his plans for that day than she has ever shared. As far as Susan's disappearance, I'm pretty sure Alina knows more about that also.

And Michael can forget ever holding public office, the voters will remember his family name.

Actually, Michael could probably get elected in WVC.

I want to know if there was any follow up of SP's movements during those two days! Were there ever investigations into cell phone pings, debit card pur chases (ie: gas receipts, food, etc on the way towards Boise?) Did SP withdraw money to fund a road trip? Did Josh? What was the weather like during those days as the drive over the Blues can be very trecherous (sic?). That is a full day drive for both and they would have had to meet up and turn around to come back the following day. Where were the boys during those two days? If Josh and SP were conniving together - they would have had to call each other to arrange meet up times and place.

IIRC, JP bought TWO cell phones..not just one. Now whether he purchased them at the same time, IDK. I thought he bought them at W-Mart or wherever he had purchased the new bedspread. Now, I don't know if he bought one in SL/WVC and one in N Utah...or both in N UT.

I'm beginning to belive this is/was a family affair: ie: her disappearance. :moo:

That is a very good question.

The daycare called Jen; and Terrica, JP's mother, who was/is living with Jen called LE because at that point in time, all the family was missing.

The plot thickens. wow. I think we all suspected they all helped, looks like evidence is starting to point in that direction.
