Steven Powell was involved in disappearance

I will say, I found it a bit suspicious or strange-- being the normal time for the children to be dropped off was between 6:30 - 7:00, she(childcare worker) then calls SP's cell, and checks (calls) for them both at work, goes to the house, and then calls Jen/Terrica, then returns to their home, and then calls Mr. Cox...and it is 10 AM before LE is called in a possible CO2 situation?

To clarify the Powell family seemed privy to a lot of criminal activity if not actively helping hide and dispose of Susan. I would't be shocked if JP's sister knew about the murder-suicide plot on Sunday.
They don't seem to have a functional family dynamics and are into keeping family secrets to the death. They are hardwired wrong through years of abuse.

I'm hoping the excellent skills of all of you here can you help me find something. I've searched...in vain. I am hoping you can help me find this.

I remember a recent news story (recent being sometime in the last 4-6 months) about a woman who came forward, claiming to have seen both Josh AND Steve Powell in the Topaz Mountain area in the summer or fall of 2009. She claims that they were rude/angry about her noticing them or trying to speak to them, from what I can remember.

Can anyone help find the source for this? I did a search and this blog is the only thing I came up with, but I've never read this particular blog entry before today and I know it's not where I first saw it:

In the woman's account, she says Steve Powell talked about leaving around Thanksgiving 2009 for a camping trip in Utah with his son, Josh Powell.

The co-worker thought the camping trip was odd. She saw Powell a week or two later and he reported that the trip was cold but fun.

I never saw anything that said Steven Powell was in Utah the day Susan went missing. Earlier today I saw something that said he was on vacation around Thanksgiving, which would be in late November. Then he was OFF work the 8th and 9th of December after Susan disappeared. He kept in contact with work and was very much involved with the office.

Perhaps he met Josh in Utah PRIOR to Susan going missing and helping to pick a location to take Susan?

I dunno, but he KNOWS much more than he's saying.

Poor Susan and her sweet little boys.

Fran, I didn't see anything stating that either. The tweets and articles came out last night and I posted them here.

I read a couple of hours ago via a Ben Winslow tweet, that Ann B wants to hire a PI to nail down the timeline with SP? Good luck with that. The Powells in my book are cowards. Like little boys running away from punching someone then telling momma "he punched me". I can't explain it without saying how I really feel about the creeps.

Maybe in a few days the details of SP trip to Utah will be sorted out. On a side note, I think it is unprofessional for an attorney to tweet about a client's cases. Is this something that a lot of attorneys are doing now?

I have zero doubt that the 800+ miles Josh drove in the rental car has something to do with meeting up with his father.
I am 99% suspicious that all the phone calls with his father up to her disappearance were plotting her demise and discard.
I feel 100% sure Steven Powell will NEVER talk.

I think this case has reached an end unless LE can come up with any circumstantial evidence against SP to prove involvement such as ATM receipts, surveillance video along his route...and even then...they will be hard pressed to make charges stick.
The only hope for a closing end here is that some hiker or spelunker happens upon Susan's remains one day.
Unless, the charred evidence found yet unidentified, was already the end of the road.
One thing we know for 110% sure is that Josh murdered Susan that night..NO DOUBT.

SuziQ....we did not search in the Topaz Mountain area, so we are not the ones you're referencing. We searched south east and east of there and north of SLC. I have an idea who you mean and I will see if I can get the info.

The siting I referenced in that post happened prior to Susan going missing and was in the canyon above Tooele. I'm still curious if josh ever took the boys in the canyons above Tooele, as are some other posters.

SuziQ an update; the people I know who were out there focused on other areas and NOT near Topaz.

Thank you for the correction. And sorry for the confusion.

I think she's in Tooele county as well. I'm not sure about the canyons as they probably were snowed in that night.

IF SP took two weeks of vacation "around" Thanksgiving, his time off could have possibly overlapped with Sunday, Dec. 6, the day/evening when SP was last seen alive; the night of the 'blizzard camping trip.'

Thanksgiving was Thursday, Nov. 26 in 2009.

We have reports of him also 'calling in sick' for Tues. and Wed., Dec. 8 & 9; not sure how that lines up with vacation time he had taken.

Dec. 8 is the day when JP bailed on his police interview. They had his vehicle in custody at that time. He took off and later rented a car on that date, returning after traveling over 800 miles.

Hopefully this will all be cleared up soon. Very interesting IMO.

The big question: Was the 7th supposed to be the last day of his two week vacation...was he intended to be off on the 7th anyway.

Also, was telecommuting or travel part of his regular job and if so, how did he "clock in?" In other words, did he login as proof of "working" but no one at the office, client or work sites actually saw him?

I am trying to remember WHO took josh to get the rental car. There was something about josh at a parking lot when he was stopped with the van, by LE, and then someone picked him up. Didn't Peterson take him to drop the car back to the rental office and that's when his hands were all red?

Encrypted drive is a challenge, I know many who would try or may have knowledge of how to. LE could make copies of that drive if their stumped and make it public. They may not want the contents public but what's the choice here if it were cracked.

Just my impression of glossing over post here, SP had motive and opportunity.
