Support Thread: Gerus and Bones (K9's)

As a foster mom for YTNR (yorkierescue.com) I had the pleasure recently to meet a retired Undercover Narcotics LE officer and his wife as I did their home inspection before they were approved to adopt one of our little ones.

The wife had mentioned that her husband had been in with the K9 unit during his career in LE. At one point during our conversation that day, Bob (I'll call him) stood up and asked if he could show me something. He stepped out and returned with a framed photo of his beloved K9 whom had worked along side of him until his retirement. Not only did his "girl" retire with him but, after she passed away, she was cremated and he has her ashes next to her picture on his dresser. It was such an honor to talk with him about his "girl"!

Who would think this big burley man would go from German Shepards to Yorkies...

PS...Yeh, for Deputy Forgey and his brilliant testimony today and for all the work you and Gerus & Bones have done!:cheer:

Just the person I want to talk to. I have a question for you. We were talking about Yorkies on another thread because the Anthonys have 2 yorkies I believe. Here is our question.

IF the child's body was buried in the yard, would the yorkies tend to react by sniffing and digging and whining in response?

I would think so, but have never had a yorkie. TIA

This thread just brings tears to my eyes, I just love, adore and admire these dogs and their handlers with all my heart.

I have been thinking of this all day and guess this is the thread I should put it under.

The dogs that hit in the back yard were smelling for human deomposition.

Even if Caylee drowned in the pool {which I do not believe it for one second} and she was taken out and placed on the ground her little body had NO time to decompose/rot.

Her body in my opinion was laid there when Casey borrowed the shovel off of her neighbor with the thought of burying her there until she could come up with a better idea. Little Caylee was starting to decompose in the Florida heat, she has to do something.
Those TWO dogs both hit,,,it is a no brainer.

This is what I was assuming to be the case, but I know Dr. Bass (of Body Farm fame) says flies smell decomp moments after death and begin to arrive. Did testimony today clarify how soon after death dogs hit on decomp? Maybe there's already discussion covering this elsewhere and feel free to point me to it.

he's a BEAST too! gahhh he's so cute ♥

i still can't get over the DT putting this guy on the stand and just making a total @ss out of what he does.
here, this guy takes in these puppies... makes them a part of his family.. trains them to do amazing things.. and baez just totally down plays it and shoots it down in 10 seconds.
it takes a special person to do what they are doing.. and what's sad. well, maybe not... i'm glad they are.. but they are more of a voice for caylee than her own flesh and blood.

ETA: under missjames- i thought i saw his mouth quiver a bit while talking about the dogs he used to have/train... almost like when one talks about a loved on they've lost.
evidently, these dogs meant a great deal to him... and i'll say it again - it pi$$es me off to no end that they are making a mockery of dgs and handlers.

Wow, I thought I saw that too, but then thought I just imagined it. I like this guy even more now!

Cause Yorkies think they are German Shepards. LOL Good for him to adopt a yorkie and give it a home. Yorkie lover here (i have two) But I love all dogs.

I have seen a FHP officer work with a GS. Very interesting. I love to watch them work.

Yeah and Kudos to Gerus and Bones.

Our neighbour was a Cop and he had three canine dogs that he would essentially raise from home over years and years. All 3 were poisoned - I think everyone here knows what kind of people we share this world with. I have the utmost respect for both the officers AND their canine bffs.

Thank you Gerus and Bones for all that you have done. Boof boof! You are remarkable and very likely the SA's BEST witnesses!!!!

Wish there was a dog bone smiley to send to these two......

I hope it's okay to bring his over from the trial thread.
I don't want anyone to miss it!

My dogs are gathered around the computer with me eagerly awaiting to hear their fellow sniffers testify. It is their expert opinion that dogs can absolutely testify and they are so frushstrated that JB discriminated against them in a court of law. Their attorney, Mr. Mouthdog, may be filing a cease and desist order. Dr. Snuffaluffagus has agreed to be their character witness. In addition, they feel that their sniffers are equal to the charming, esteemed, HeWhoIsNotAChemist Dr. Vass, due to their large olfactories which have been employed in this manner for generations.

I, Lady of 3dogs, can testify to the fact that my dogs can sniff out an empty pizza box and tear it to shreds in a heartbeat. They don't have to put their heads in a bag and eat raw hamburger to achieve it either. Even though I am not a chemist, I can spell iron and know the symbol is FE. My dogs, who are not chemist, have never been to, nor will they ever go to Dope Manor with Yo Hand Vandersloot. Objection overruled. That's hearsay. I laid the Predicate. (Ok maybe his name wasn't Predicate, but he moved to another state and died in a car crash so whatever.) Sorry that may have been out of scope.
AT this time we would like to put into evidence exhibit 3DL, which will prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that squirrels run away from my dogs in terror and would not be caught dead under the frame of any car.

And yes, my dogs believe that their esteemed colleagues will comport themselves in a professional manner on the stand and state "it smells like there's been a dead body in the damn car". No, they are not chemist either.

We rest our canine case. What sayeth the idiot bloggers?

PS: This is what happens when you listen to this case for 3 yrs. Quick, Nursebeeme, get a double dose of meds ready.

I am not sure about all Yorkies, but my two would have. My female is a better breed than the male (pet store bought vs breeder bought)and she is defiantly a hunter. She would stay on it.

OMG! I saw this in passing yesterday but didn't read it. It's genius! I love the I laid the predicate part.

I am watching the cross right now. JB said you "you don't have no reports (yeesh) for the no finds" and says you have no idea if evidence was ever found later on the no alerts. And Forgey says two turned out to be animals because LE dug anyway despite no alert because of this case!! Which showed: 1. Not only can he not spell Iorn, JB uses double negatives. 2. The dogs were correct that there were no human remains. 3. The dogs do not alert on animals such as squirrels. 4. JB's "client" whose daughter died tragically in an "accident" caused numerous unnecessary searches by claiming Nanny! :floorlaugh::floorlaugh: THEN he says your dog didn't alert on Suburban Drive and Forgey tells him he had to restrain the dog from the remains site! Which I clearly remember him telling JB at the Frye hearing!!! JB needs to just :truce:

Anyway, GREAT JOB GERUS! Can't wait to hear about Bones tomorrow!

OMG! I just got to the next part where JB tries to impeach Forgey who had JUST said the same thing he said in his deposition! Then tried to cut him off and HHJP said "let him finish the answer!" OMG

ETA: Talking about disarticulating small bones made me think of the graphic SA has showing the scattering of poor Caylee's bones. :( The jury will see that at some point.

Yes, but have you noticed that NEITHER Bones, nor Gerus have a financial interest in this case? :waitasec:
