Support Thread: Gerus and Bones (K9's)

Gerus looked like he/she did a perfect job imo, when searching ica's car.

I think one or two of his Deputys comments should be given in the states closing arguments. Followed by Cindy A.'s 911 call---
"I found my daughter's car today, and it smells like there has been a dead body in the car,"...."my granddaughter's been gone 31 days".

Just the person I want to talk to. I have a question for you. We were talking about Yorkies on another thread because the Anthonys have 2 yorkies I believe. Here is our question.

IF the child's body was buried in the yard, would the yorkies tend to react by sniffing and digging and whining in response?

I would think so, but have never had a yorkie. TIA

Since the Yorkshire Terrier breed originally was bred for in the 19th century specifically for hunting out rats in clothing mills, it is in their nature to be very inquisitive.

With that said, I can only speak for "my" Yorkies who happen to be great foragers while outdoors...they will look for something as little as a bug to lizards and even a friendly family cat.

Last year, when our backyard became home to a few gophers, I had to literally pull my Yorkies noses out of the gopher holes. They have even dug up small areas during Lizard season when eggs were deposited in the soil.

So, I guess I would not be surprised if the Anthony's Yorkies would be interested in a specific area that might have had remains buried there.

I hope that information was helpful...

I hope it's okay to bring his over from the trial thread.
I don't want anyone to miss it!

My dogs are gathered around the computer with me eagerly awaiting to hear their fellow sniffers testify. It is their expert opinion that dogs can absolutely testify and they are so frushstrated that JB discriminated against them in a court of law. Their attorney, Mr. Mouthdog, may be filing a cease and desist order. Dr. Snuffaluffagus has agreed to be their character witness. In addition, they feel that their sniffers are equal to the charming, esteemed, HeWhoIsNotAChemist Dr. Vass, due to their large olfactories which have been employed in this manner for generations.

I, Lady of 3dogs, can testify to the fact that my dogs can sniff out an empty pizza box and tear it to shreds in a heartbeat. They don't have to put their heads in a bag and eat raw hamburger to achieve it either. Even though I am not a chemist, I can spell iron and know the symbol is FE. My dogs, who are not chemist, have never been to, nor will they ever go to Dope Manor with Yo Hand Vandersloot. Objection overruled. That's hearsay. I laid the Predicate. (Ok maybe his name wasn't Predicate, but he moved to another state and died in a car crash so whatever.) Sorry that may have been out of scope.
AT this time we would like to put into evidence exhibit 3DL, which will prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that squirrels run away from my dogs in terror and would not be caught dead under the frame of any car.

And yes, my dogs believe that their esteemed colleagues will comport themselves in a professional manner on the stand and state "it smells like there's been a dead body in the damn car". No, they are not chemist either.

We rest our canine case. What sayeth the idiot bloggers?

PS: This is what happens when you listen to this case for 3 yrs. Quick, Nursebeeme, get a double dose of meds ready.

This may be off topic but a story worth sharing. (Maybe since my husband and I had 2 Yorkies, Ben and Bailey, it will save me. All 3 of them are waiting for me at "Rainbow Bridge" as we speak.):angel::angel:

My husband's brother-in-law was president of a Lion's Club in the Phoenix, AZ area. Their philanthropic project was Guide Dogs for the blind. The club was having their election weekend several years ago. We lived in Laughlin, NV at the time. The brother-in-law thought it would be fun for the club to come to Laughlin for a fun weekend so he contacted us. We were able to obtain complimentary rooms and meals at one of the casinos and we also arranged for some prizes from several other casinos for contests the Lions would be holding during their weekend.

The guys agreed to meet for breakfast on their first morning after arriving. One of the members is blind and had a gorgeous black lab named Arrow. After breakfast this group wanted to take a walk down "casino row" to get some fresh air and walk off their breakfast. They wandered around the casino for quite some time trying to find the exit, but they had no luck. After a while the blind guy said, "Wait…I've got an idea!" :waitasec: He then said, "Arrow, OUT!" Arrow led all 30 of them straight to the exit. :woohoo:

A message for Gerus and Bones from my place:

Woof, woof, sniff, sniff, Gerus and Bones.
Grrrl. Yip.
From the Yorkie and the Kid

I'm reliably informed that this translates to:

Good work, well done, Gerus and Bones.
Go pee on that atty's leg.
From Yorkie and the Kid.

If they get killed in the line of duty, they get a full officer burial. AND the charges are the same as if a human police officer were killed.

That is true strawberry as is the same with the mounted command. It is also a felony should anyone try to hurt, shoot them etc.
They are considered officers. I really wished they would have said something about that yesterday.

I thought the video the SA showed of the dog handler and the dog was VERY impressive, and I'm willing to bet the jury felt the same way. The dog made a beeline to the body and the body was clearly visible on the video. I have to say that as a lay-person and an animal lover -- out of all the testimony about the trunk, the dog hitting on the trunk was the most convincing piece of evidence (to me) that there was a dead body there.

I watch some in the morning and early afternoon. Break for work and come home and finish on the DVR. My family is starting to think i'm crazy...anyways.

I enjoyed lastnight and this morning watching all the testimony about these dogs and the handlers. Very informative, educational and just cool to watch. I never knew how smart and good these dogs are at the job.

Something I noticed and was wondering if anyone else had.
During the testimony form Deputy Forgey. LBD entered the stack of photos into evidence. JB asks to see them and LBD walks them over to the DT. When the camera got on LBD at the DT table it looked as if she snatched the pictures quite PO'd and JB had a smirk on his face.

Looked to me like there is truly no love lost here...

I'm so happy to see all of the GSD parents and lovers posting on this thread.
