Support Thread: Jeff Ashton and Prosecution Team

LISTEN CAREFULLY, turn it up, at the beginning Casey whispers to Baez "MAKE HIM STOP" and he replies "I CAN'T"

This is the BIGGEST wake-up call Casey has had yet, IMO.

Maybe, as she sits alone in her cell tonite, she will decide that it is time to stop all of this BS she is putting everyone through.

We can only hope.

This is very telling! Casey doesn't want the truth told, doesn't want to be exposed!

We've seen her anger before, and I wonder if this is how she's used to reacting to something she doesn't want to hear?

It makes me wonder if George and Cindy were used to not confronting Casey, exposing her lies, because they knew she would react with hostility and they were afraid of her?

I honestly think that Casey's emotional tears today were not real. I didn't see any real tears, just Casey making a grimace and covering her face with her hand. JB hands her a tissue and she dabs at her eyes, but there's no evidence of tears or any fluid on her cheeks.

I was reminded of the day of the grand jury indictment and Casey arrested - October 14th. JB and Casey held a press conference and at that time Casey acted as if she were crying, but no one saw any tears.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of her attorneys (AL?) advised her to act emotional at times. Who knows........maybe when JB leaned over and said something to Casey, he was giving her the cue to start crying.

I hear you. I wanted to say "Make it Stop". There was no crying! She was dabbing at her eyes, hoping to pull out a drop. But no doubt she was more angry than anything else. There was no difference in her performance today than the press conference. Of course, that's just my opinion.

the look that kc gave to jb...as she was about to scream out.... then jb said something....like *get it under control*...she calmed down for a few seconds and then lyon took ahold of her arm...then the hiding of her face started...with....maybe tears... i think came from anger....her asking lyon to make him stop....lyon saying *its almost over*......i was up on the edge of my seat....waiting....for something to go down....

i even thought before she entered the court room....she was giving the guards a hard time about not wanting to come out......then the comment jb gave her on not ironing her shirt.....oh .....my.....

Several people walked out of the courtroom while Mr. Ashton was speaking?

Does anyone know who it was? tia

In the video of GA and CA leaving the courtroom, there's several people with them - two women and a man, who form a protective barricade around Cindy, who's leaning up against a wall, while waiting for the elevator.

I don't know who they are......can anyone else identify them?

BBM -no he din't?? Did he really? I didn't think irons or ironing boards were allowed in the jail system ;)

Do you think JB would advise her to plea? He would have to forego his minute of fame (or embarassment as we call it) in the courtroom. Today was nothing compared to what JA will do at trial.

I think JB is in this for the long haul. He wants to make a name for himself as a criminal defense attorney with a high profile case. To take a plea, denies him his moment in the spotlight in the courtroom on national television.

Prepared some substance? Why not name the substance if you already know what it is?

Wait, you just got through saying it was a substance that knocked her out. The tape would be easy to apply if she was sedated or unconscious. Now you are saying restraining her arms to apply the tape in the case of full consciousness with no substance to knock her out?

See, these two different scenarios are given because the prosecutors don't really know exactly what happened. They don't know that she was drugged before death. The tape may have even been applied shortly after death.

I think we are not going to see any bombshell doc dump with exact cause of death. No chloroform or any sedating drug found at the swamp crime scene or on the remains. I think that what we already have is pretty much it.

I think LE and the prosecution know more, but don't want to give away to the defense a major chunk of their case just yet. The defense and public are not going to be privy to all that the prosecution has until this goes to trial.

I'm pretty sure the general consensus on the gatorade bottle is that the amount of chloroform detected was an insignificant trace, unfortunately :(

Is that what was reported by someone who tested it or is it just people like us guessing?

Considering AL's comments regarding female prosecutors, LBD might just be waiting for the trial, so she can mop the floor with her and be done with it.... :innocent:

What did the Queen of the Death Penalty have to say about female Pros's?

I don't think there is an offer on the table.

The only plea offer that I remember was back in July-August 2008. At that time the prosecution offered her plea negotiations, but there was a time limit on this offer. It was to expire at a certain time on a certain date. The defense was given three weeks (IIRC) to respond to this offer, and JB rejected it immediately after the offer was made and let the deadline for further response to pass.

"Make him stop" sounds like some little kid expecting an adult to jump in every time the kid doesn't like something that is going on. What did she really think that Baez or Lyon could do...jump right up there and object! She has a rude awakening coming when the trial starts. Someone better sit down with her and explain how this goes....she won't be a Princess at the trial and no one is going to treat her like one either. She doesn't have a clue what she is going to look like at the trial or what people will be calling her under their breath.

I hope Casey does show her anger at the trial. I hope she sits there with her lips pinched and her eyes in slits so the jury can see what she is really all about. The defense is going to try to get her to look all pitiful poor me during the trial. I hope plenty happens to raise her hackles.

Honestly, so many are saying she better take a plea...she may not have that option anymore. I hope that if JB tells em he want's to talk plea, JA or LKB say...here's a classic for you and a tribute to KC..."Are You F'ing Kidding Me?"

When I hear other people say "maybe she'll realize she should take a plea", it makes me feel like they think the prosecutors are hoping they won't have to go back to KC with their tail between their legs begging...please, please will you take a deal cause you hold all the cards KC. Scary feeling.

I think Jeffs words were powerful, but not the way he delivered them. Reading the words from a sheet of paper made it far less emotive than it could have been....IMO

And then there was his little error in referring to the killer as 'him' before correcting himself.

Bear in mind that I can't stand the man....haven't liked him since I saw the arrogant attitude, eye-rolling and jocular mood at earlier hearings.

Because of that, I don't believe for a second that he give a rats about justice for Caylee. I see him no differently than I do JB... two men trying to win their case for their own sakes, rather than finding justice for a murdered child.

Personally I thing LBD would have done a much better job. I'm hoping at trial we'll hear more from her than JA.

This is all just my personal opinion...not trying to stir the pot by having a different view of the man as a professional, to the majority here. So please don't attack me for exercising my right to my opinion. It's a big world and not everyone see's things the same way.

I respect your opinion..
And really, I do see your point, because in so many ways, this case is not about justice for Caylee, it is about winning a case, from both sides.
I don't feel Caylee will get true justice until the killer steps to the pearly gates..Then and only then will true justice prevail.
I feel like I am wanting true justice for little Caylee, however, I also feel her mother is 100% guilty of her death..What makes that so sad is that at 2 years old, Caylee only knew the meaning of love, she wouldn't want her mother to go through what I wish for her, so in my own way, I am failing her.
Makes me really sad to even think that way..

Casey's comments asking Jose to "make him stop" today, reminded me of Cindy's raising her hand, in the middle of the gag order hearing, asking Judge Strickland a question. Both incidents clearly show two people who feel the rules do not aply to them. Don't know if you remember Cindy raising her hand in court, I have never seen anyone do that in a court proceeding before. It boggles my mind that adults don't know this behavior is wrong. A child in a court room would know to not raise their hand and ask the Judge a question, in the midle of a procedding.

But, these people are special...I wonder where they got that idea from ? Maybe Casey feels a little less special tonight.

I respectfully disagree. IMO Ashton today proved to be very powerful and effective. If you don't think so, just look at the reaction he got from everyone...IMO everything changed in that courtroom when he spoke. G&C left, KC flipped, the courtroom seemed stunned, riveted, and even the Wonderful Andrea Lyon seemed thrown off her game after he was done. She made her way back to the podium, stammered, apologized for things she'd said about jurors, etc. Even she was affected. The room was shaken up, and even the hearing ended weird. It wasn't like normal when people stand around and chit chat. Everyone seemed shaken up. Whether or not he was reading didn't seem to matter. Maybe if he wasn't reading, the room would have exploded.

Just my big hairy opinion, of course.

What did the Queen of the Death Penalty have to say about female Pros's?

The best article about her was on WFTV but has since been taken down.... In a nutshell she made very disparaging remarks about female prosecutors during a seminar in 2008- she said 'they all wear those little ties and have strap-ons at home'- and worse- the videos are still on You tube. This is the same conference where she describes jurors as killers. It is enlightening

I've seen/ heard today on the threads many folks wanting for the truth to be told... wanting to know for sure that the State has the right person locked away. Mr. Ashton came as close to the truth as I think we're going to get...for now...and I thank him for that. Those who are worried that Casey may be wrongly convicted can only hope that she speaks and reveals what happened to Caylee. She's the only person who can. What does her silence say? If she wants Mr. Ashton to stop, then tell what truly happened and be done with this. The State is seeking justice for a little girl who died at the hands of another. Yes, everything leads to Casey...but for those who believe otherwise...then who? Casey is the one who has left many guessing. Not the As, not the State, not LE...Casey. She alone controls her fate. JMHO

I wouldn't be that surprised if they take a plea on the check fraud cases, but the murder case is another story. At this point, I believe the only deal the state would give them is LWOP, and that's a stretch. Most likely Baez and Co. would not be willing to plea to LWOP. I personally think that the state has offered them enough already. I will be disappointed if Casey is given an offer (of anything less than LWOP). IMO, LWOP would be a much harsher sentence for her than the DP. The states case is strong, we saw a glimpse of that today. They have no reason to bargain with the defense at this point.
