I don't want anyone to lie.

Gorsuch replaced a strong conservative in Scalia. The status quo remain.

This appointment will change the balance of the Court and that's why I say it has the democrats running scared. JMO

The president gets to pick the judges, based on his party, and platform. I would prefer to have Constitutional judges, who are basing opinions on the constitution. We don't need people who want to re-write the constitution or do some sort of hyperbole byzantine interpretation of the constitution, which is happening more and more at the district court level. The balance has become unbalanced. Time for a change.

So you are saying that women are doomed and no matter who is confirmed Roe v Wade will be overturned? Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post.

Chuck Shumer said this about Kavanaugh.

Schumer: I’m going to fight the Kavanaugh nomination 'with everything I’ve got'

No, because I don't know for a fact that Roe v Wade will be over turned, no matter who is next appointed to the bench.

I offend 99% of everyone I know, and probably here too, by not believing that Roe v Wade, gay rights or ANY other "social justice" issue is what matters most now.

I'm far more concerned about what damage an anti-environment SC can do (I like my planet); about the immediate elimination of "Obama Care" (a case is already in the pipeline, ready to be heard); about a permanent allocation of tax money going to the 1%, at the expense of the rest of us; about MAjOR voter suppression laws being ruled constitutional; about the inevitable dismantling of the RIGHT of federal agencies to regulate anything ( the court is being stacked with Federalist/Koch brothers funded justices most particulay towards this end).

Conway: Kavanaugh probe 'not meant to be a fishing expedition' - CNNPolitics

Kellyanne Conway, counselor to President Donald Trump, said Sunday that the FBI investigation into sexual assault and misconduct allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh "will be limited in scope, it's meant to last one week, and ... it's not meant to be a fishing expedition."

Two sources with knowledge of the situation told CNN that Senate Republicans were working with White House counsel Don McGahn, who was "trying to make it as narrow as possible."

Absolutely correct. For any conservative nominee at this point in time, using Lindsey Graham’s words, “You're looking for a fair process? You came to the wrong town at the wrong time.”
Fair? Merrick Garland travesty.

I have seen absolutely nothing so far that makes me feel that Kavanaugh should not be confirmed.

I will not entertain any unsubstantiated claims at this point. They are only a distraction. JMO

The question was hypothetical, but I'm inferring from your reply that no, it wouldn't matter to you if it could be proven that K perjured himself, and I'm guessing still further, that you would never accept the proof that he had done so, no matter how ironclad.

i just googled boofs

oh my

if you think you know what it means explore --- its worse than you thought!!!

I am sorry guys this is just funny - what is the world coming to

Devil's Triangle Wikipedia page changes definition during Kavanaugh hearing

Devil's Triangle Wikipedia page changes definition during Kavanaugh hearing

he gets more charming with each passing minute

It took me a few minutes yesterday to recall what boof or boofed meant. It evolved from butt @uck to boo foo and then shortened to boof. I had never heard the term devils triangle before the hearing.

I'm sure that's more than you wanted to know but couldn't help myself......

That's not what I said. I hope you don't think I'm stupid.

I find gang rape allegations to be too out there. Multiple gang rape over multiple parties, yet the parties continued and no one was charged or arrested. Doesn't sound all that believable to me.

Here is an article from Minnespolias, MN . I think most people can agree that Minnesota is very liberal.

This is from 2018. Can you imagine about sex crimes back in the day if they have a dearth of officers and training in it today?

Sure, MN is not the place of this case. But as a state that is the leader in areas of education, ( ACT and SAT scores), medical (Mayo clinic) , domestic violence ( started the law that abusers are arrested), I think it is a good indication of the state of the rest of the union.

Police undertrained and overwhelmed by rape cases in Minnesota

The GOP Wants Us To Think Being Accused Is As Bad As Being Assaulted | HuffPost

It does seem that Kavanaugh and his family have gone through a difficult time, facing public scorn and even death threats. No people should be made to fear for their safety because they are in the public eye.

But the idea that Kavanaugh has suffered anywhere near what Blasey has allegedly suffered or perhaps even more so is ludicrous. He may resent the way the confirmation process is going. He may be outraged that he isn’t facing a smooth path from one of the nation’s second-highest courts to the nation’s highest court.

But make no mistake: None of that rises to the level of destroying his life. He is not a victim, and what he has gone through is nowhere near on par with Blasey’s experiences. Graham’s equating the two experiences on live television and Kavanaugh’s harping on his personal pain eclipses the very real and severe toll violence exacts on those who suffer it. It gives abusers a way out: insisting on their own suffering to hide what they’ve done to their victims.

Well, you and I both know how the addict/alcoholic plays the victim. Nothing is the their fault, it's everyone else's fault..... So to see and hear BK playing the victim is no surprise to me. In fact, just watching his demeanor and replies tells me he's still that teenage boy, just in an older body with a heavier wallet. The look on his wife's face tells me she's put up with this embarrassing behavior of his in private and now it's oozing it's ugly head into their public life. I actually feel sorry for her. I bet she has some stories to tell if she had the courage to do so.

I'm curious. To those who think K should be confirmed:

Would you still support his confirmation if it can be proven that he perjured himself during this nomination process?

Would it matter to you what he perjured himself about, if it could be proven?

For example, would you give him a pass for lying about year book related questions- Renate, Devil's Triangle, Ralphing, etc.

Would you give him a pass for lying about his drinking (including legal age to drink, drinking to excess, blacking out, etc)?

Would you give him a pass about always respecting girls/women & never acting inappropriately towards them physically or sexually (not referring to assault here)?

Would you give him a pass if it could be proven he liked about knowing the Dem docs he used were stolen?

Would you give him a.pass if he lied about ANY matter of substance relating to his WH duties under president Bush?

ugh those are only a few

he is really corrupt

Carmela - as always was exquisite when asking about him talking to Trumps lawyer about Mueller

I don't know what people see in him - he is really sleepy -- there is nothing impressive about him as evidenced here

This is an awesome example of what i slowly caught on to in these things - watch the way she does it !! Starts wide - the person knows they are lying (!) and then cant figure out a way out and he was dumb!!

IMO for those focusing on abortion - I hope everyone is perfectly healthy - this dude will reinstate pre existing conditions - just pause and ask yourself how things are gonna be for everyone when that comes back on line.

That in and of itself ought to give many pause -- unless one is rich and has no plans to need medical care for the rest of their lives we all are in for bad things .

So it's extremely important to stop another conservative from being on the Supreme Court for the reasons you listed.

I think I have made myself abundantly clear in all my posts over the past few days. In summary:

1. A right wing judge WILL be appointed to the SC, and Dems have never believed otherwise.

2. I don't like any of the nominees on the short list, neither do Dem Senators. Many on the short list are actually even MORE radically right than K. Knocking out K would actually increase the odds
of getting one of those righter-thans on the SC.

3. I love the law. I believe in our judiciary system, and I believe that democracy ends when citizens lose faith in our institutions, but especially in the judiciary. For me, maintaining the legitimacy of the SC is more important than ANY nominee, either repub or dem nominated.

4. My opposition to K is based on my belief that he is a partisan, has engaged in dirty tricks, and has perjured himself-- all this before anyone ever heard Dr. Ford's name.

5. Any other trump nominee would cause real damage to the nation, imo, but NOT to the SC itself.

His behavior at the hearing is unacceptable. Hillary was grilled for hours re Benghazi. She has been vilified for decades. Never once have we seen her break down in tears and yelling. The lack of his decorum and dignity is startling.

Howard Dean was deemed too emotional for letting out a “whoop”. Edmund Muskie was deemed unfit because he cried.

Someone in a position such as SC needs to have all of their cylinders firing, not in meltdown

For folks who did not have time to see the hearings here is a nice 14 minute summation of what he stands for and does

Trump blasts NBC story, says FBI should interview 'whoever they deem appropriate' in Kavanaugh probe

Trump blasts NBC story, says FBI should interview 'whoever they deem appropriate' in Kavanaugh probe
MSNBC, with 2 high level sources, reports Sunday that the WH has not changed it's original order to FBI that limits scope. Trump is a pathological liar. There is a link up thread to the WaPo article that documents over 5000 lies since he took office. A used car salesman or carnival barker has more credibility than this president, as shown by dozens of polls that state only 30% think that he is honest or trustworthy. Most people will believe NBC/MSNBC, etc over Trump or his enablers. Sad.

Sen. Chuck Grassley asks FBI to probe false allegation against Kavanaugh

Chuck Grassley asks FBI to probe false allegation against Brett Kavanaugh

Chairman Charles E. Grassley said the committee had to waste resources tracking down the claim by the man, who said Judge Kavanaugh raped one of his friends back in the 1980s. The man said he and another friend went to beat Judge Kavanaugh up — then said he recognized him recently when television showed Judge Kavanaugh after he was nominated to the high court.

Mr. Grassley didn’t name the man, but after reporters tracked him down he recanted.

“Such acts are not only unfair; they are potentially illegal. It is illegal to make materially false, fictitious or fraudulent statements to congressional investigators. It is illegal to obstruct committee investigations,” Mr. Grassley wrote in a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions and FBI Director Christopher A. Wray.
Good to investigate. What about 2 men who claimed to have assaulted Dr Ford?

It was about additional issues beyond the restraining order and not related to the ex.

I missed this what is it about??
