Why are they wasting time with this guy? There are plenty of others that have the qualifications.

So a person can accuse someone of a heinous crime from 36 years ago, tarnish their reputation, be investigated by the FBI and then just walk away?

Yep, someone can beg for the FBI to investigate their allegation of being sexually assaulted 36 years ago, be denied that chance to have their allegations corroborated, because their alleged assailant refuses to allow the FBI to investigate, testify in front of the Senate Committee staged as a she said (professor) versus a he said (judge up for the supreme Court flanked by a president of the US who trashes her & who praises her assailant), no other witnessess allowed, including a second accuser who the judge has personally tried to discredit before he said - under oath - that he has even heard about such ridiculous, untrue allegations.

So no, if Ford lies to the FBI she can be jailed. And if K. lies to the FBI he will be disbarred and removed from his current bench, the SC off limits forever. No do overs. Same , if K has been caught red handed committing perjury, and/or trying to tamper with witnesses.

Well, he certainly isn't doing himself any favors by hanging around, imo.
IMO, he thinks he deserves it, it is what he has been working toward and aiming for, for years. He thinks no one will do it better than he, and he wants to make sure certain issues are put the way they should be instead of the way they are now. He has an agenda. Period. A scary agenda.

Just imagine how Judge Kavanaugh is feeling.

I honestly don't care how he is feeling. I'd like to think he is feeling remorse for his complicity in damaging yet one more pillar of our democracy, and for being willing to put his own ambition over further trashing of the SC's legitimacy, but I don't think he's capable of either the insight to acknowledge the harm he's caused, nor the integrity to care.

"A Republican consultant told a network newscaster that his job was to make sure Hillary Clinton is discredited before the 1996 campaign. Each day anti-Hillary talking points go out to talk-show hosts. The rumor machine is cranking out bogus stories about her face (lifted), her sex life (either nonexistent or all too active) and her marriage (a sham). Many of the stories are attributed to the Secret Service in an attempt to give the tales credibility."

Yep...

True but it's a start. I expect we will hear more one way or the other. IMO

I think sending an anonymous unsigned allegation could do great harm to the credible allegations. Could have been sent from anyone, disgruntled person, or completely unknown crazy person for publicity in the current circus.

I'm also not liking the third accuser who has no direct allegation with Kavanaugh. I'll watch her interview, but there needs to be some serious coorboration (filed police report naming him?) to what she's alleging, and insinuating. Avenatti was a bit sketchy in his interview with Chris Cuomo tonight. I was not convinced.

Just imagine how Judge Kavanaugh is feeling.

I'd rather not, tbh. I can't imagine the rationalizing he must be doing in order to misrepresent the truth as much as he has in those hearings and elsewhere.

As far as I can tell FBI can not determine that someone is "innocent of all charges"-they don't reach conclusions.

Actually, they can. The Senate would rather they not. Basically what the Senate is getting this time around is a gold-plated transcription service.

It could do great harm for sure if it isn't true. I think people start out testing the waters to see if they get a response and if they do they become brave enough with time to reveal their identity.
I'm not sure about Swetnick. I could see such a thing happening.
I hope they all get their chance to speak to the FBI. IMO

23 page transcript of Senate Judiciary Committee, September 26, interview with Kavanaugh. Troubling details from "Jane Doe"

https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/09.26.18 BMK Interview Transcript (Redacted).pdf

.... We plan to discuss two allegations today. The first allegation
comes from Ms. Julie Swetnick, a woman represented by
Michael Avenatti. The second is from someone who goes by
"Jane Doe." She submitted a letter to a senator's office
last week. Judge Kavanaugh, you previously answered a few
questions about Ms. Swetnick's allegations when her
attorney, Mr. Avenatti, made some general statements on
Twitter. Now that we have Ms. Swetnick's declaration, we
would like to follow up with a few additional questions.

TY for posting this transcript Spell.

I have to say I don't think either of these cases are credible. But that's just moo.

If this case is not the time for a very thorough FBI investigation, then what ever will be? And could someone remind me again, what is the reason for the big hurry?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.bu...gh-trump-should-nominate-someone-else-2018-10

Republican Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska gave an impassioned speech Wednesday night on the Senate floor about sexual assault and the #MeToo movement.

Sasse also dropped a bombshell about where he stood on Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court, saying he had pushed for a different candidate before Trump chose Kavanaugh.

"I urged the president to nominate a different individual," Sasse said. "I urged the president to nominate a woman."

He recounted the experiences of two friends he said were raped, saying the #MeToo movement had been "complicated" but also a "very good thing."

And then Sasse turned back to Trump. "We all know that the president cannot lead us through this time," he said.

Some undecided GOP senators on Kavanaugh call FBI report 'reassuring' and 'thorough'

The investigation — which lasted less than a week — involved conversations with a small fraction of dozens of individuals who came forward to offer potential information about the allegations, with one current and two former FBI officials confirming to NBC News that agents had not been permitted to speak with many of them. A source briefed on the background investigation told NBC News on Thursday that the FBI contacted 10 people and interviewed nine of them.

Swing senators praise FBI's Kavanaugh probe, indicating possible support

And Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., who originally requested the FBI re-open its investigation into the claims leveled against Kavanaugh by Christine Blasey Ford, agreed.

“No new corroborative information came out of it,” Flake said on Capitol Hill Thursday. “Thus far, we’ve see no new credible corroboration—no new corroboration at all.”

Brett Kavanaugh and the FBI report on allegations against him: Here's what we know now

>>snip

The White House did not outline what was in the report and said privacy laws prevented the information from becoming public. Spokesman Raj Shah confirmed that the FBI did comprehensive interviews with nine witnesses, but did not provide names.

Six people have separately confirmed that they were interviewed by the FBI:

  • Deborah Ramirez, who alleged that Kavanaugh exposed himself to her at a dorm party while they were freshmen at Yale University
  • Mark Judge, a high school classmate of Kavanaugh's who Christine Blasey Ford alleges was in the room when Kavanaugh assaulted her at a gathering when they were both teenagers
  • Leland Keyser, a friend of Ford's who Ford says was present at the gathering where she was allegedly attacked
  • Patrick "P.J. Smyth, who Ford alleges was also at the party where she was attacked
  • Tim Gaudette, a Kavanaugh high school classmate who hosted a party in 1982 that was attended by some of the same people Ford alleges were present the night she was attacked
  • Chris Garrett, a Kavanaugh classmate who was attended Gaudette's 1982 party
Shah said, "I can't outline the details of the background investigation," but indicated that nothing in the documents disqualified Kavanaugh.

>>snip

But at least five senators on both sides of the aisle are still undecided about how they will vote on Kavanaugh. Republicans Jeff Flake of Arizona, Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska have not set how they will vote. Neither have Democrats Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota and Joe Manchin of West Virginia.
