I still go back and forth about judging people for activities in high school. But Kavanaugh has denied the allegations.

Dr. Ford? If the FBI investigation did not verify this, that doesn't mean it didn't happen. But, it can't be corroborated.
It's not just about the allegations, it's about the way he presented himself at the hearing. IMO

He made the decision to attack the Clinton's, he made the decision to be sarcastic and obnoxious. Bad decisions. I don't want him making decisions on the Supreme Court.

You can't find something you refuse to look for.
Sometimes you look, as with the FBI investigation, and you still can find anything. Maybe it just didn't happen as CF said it did.

"you still can find anything"? Lots of corroboration — just little "new" corroboration due to the limited scope, as Flake clearly stated. Quote linked upthread.

That Justice Stevens has said, on the record, that Kavanaugh's partisan & intemperate display was disqualifying & that K shouldn't be confirmed is absolutely astonishing.

Stevens is a life long republican. He praised K in a book he wrote in 2010, and supported K's nomination up until K went off the rails.

More astonishing: no seated or ex SC justice has EVER weighed in during a confirmation process. Ever. Much less explicitly said to Senators that they take the fact
that he has done so into consideration.

I was pretty sure before that most if not all current SC justices save one) are dismayed & alarmed by what's happening. Now I'm positive.

Allegations aside, there are other good reasons he should not be on the Supreme Court. A Supreme Court justice should be beyond reproach. I disagree with many of Gorsuch’s views but nobody can poke holes in his who he is as a person. The same cannot be said for Brett Kavanaugh.

Many details of the allegations have been supported by evidence — including Kavanaugh's contradictory testimony. Meaning much of Ford's testimony corroborates that Kavanaugh has not told the truth.

I'm not directing this at you specifically, @mickey2942. Just jumping off your post!

This shouldn't be a difficult concept to understand.

1. Set aside the sexual assault from the equation (hypothetically).

2. Now, look at the he said/she said list — testimony, interviews, documents, etc.

3. Then, compare and contrast those lists to the evidence from everyone who has come forward with witness testimony, Kavanaugh's own documentation, etc.

4. Watch Kavanaugh's willful misstatements blossom like mold on a wet turd.

I'm just confused as to why this concept is so slippery to grasp. Everything is right there. Legally, the concept is really clear-cut. It's just been so convoluted by the political process.

All my own opinion, of course.

Even the most minimal of actual investigations include interviewing the accuser and the accused. How basic is that? And how telling that the FBI wasn't even allowed to do that, much less to interview the DOZENS of witnesses who requested to be interviewed by the FBI, and who could have helped collaborate both F's and Ramirez's allegations.

Maybe it wasn't corroborated - does that mean it can't be?

The American Bar Association had concerns about Kavanaugh 12 years ago. Republicans dismissed those, too.

Late Thursday evening, the ABA called for an FBI investigation into sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh before the Senate Judiciary Committee voted on his Supreme Court nomination. The warning was all the more remarkable, because just hours earlier, Kavanaugh and his Republican defenders had cited the ABA’s previously glowing endorsement of the nominee — “the gold standard,” as one leading Republican put it.

Flash back to the mid-2000s and another fight in the Senate over Kavanaugh’s nomination to a federal court:

The FBI report is 1,000 pages long. How realistic is it that this report can be read in its entirety before tomorrow's vote takes place?

IMO Kavanaugh should not be a Supreme Court Justice; he clearly demonstrated during the hearing that he is not non-partisan, he very clearly holds grudges against the Clinton's, and his behavior at the hearing was inexcusable...he was belligerent, disrespectful to those interviewing him and to the process by asking his interviewers questions as a means to NOT answer the question asked of him.

I mean, how much more evidence will it take for Kavanaugh to realize he really isn't wanted, is unfit for the job and should just walk away, despite the rampant partisan politicking?

‘Unfathomable’: More than 2,400 law professors sign letter opposing Kavanaugh’s confirmation

Can you imagine his first day/week/month? The other justices will likely snub and shun him. Brett’s not going to have anyone to eat lunch with. He really will stain the Court’s image.

I hope they treat him the way he treated the Dem senators on the judiciary committee (as Matt Damon showed on SNL). He’s a non-credible, vile, partisan, entitled punk. (Yeah, I don’t like him one bit.)
